1 A nd as was coming out of the temple '> area], one of His disciples said to Him, Look, Teacher! Notice the sort and quality of these stones and buildings!

Saliendo Jesús del templo, le dijo uno de sus discípulos: Maestro, mira qué piedras, y qué edificios.

2 A nd Jesus replied to him, You see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be loosened and torn down.

Jesús, respondiendo, le dijo: ¿Ves estos grandes edificios? No quedará piedra sobre piedra, que no sea derribada. Señales antes del fin (Mt. 24. 3-28; Lc. 21. 7-24; 17. 22-24)

3 A nd as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple '> enclosure], Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately,

Y se sentó en el monte de los Olivos, frente al templo. Y Pedro, Jacobo, Juan y Andrés le preguntaron aparte:

4 T ell us when is this to take place and what will be the sign when these things, all, are about to be accomplished?

Dinos, ¿cuándo serán estas cosas? ¿Y qué señal habrá cuando todas estas cosas hayan de cumplirse?

5 A nd Jesus began to tell them, Be careful and watchful that no one misleads you.

Jesús, respondiéndoles, comenzó a decir: Mirad que nadie os engañe;

6 M any will come in '> appropriating to themselves] the name which belongs to Me '> basing their claims on the use of My name], saying, I am! And they will mislead many.

porque vendrán muchos en mi nombre, diciendo: Yo soy el Cristo; y engañarán a muchos.

7 A nd when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not get alarmed (troubled and frightened); it is necessary take place, but the end is not yet.

Mas cuando oigáis de guerras y de rumores de guerras, no os turbéis, porque es necesario que suceda así; pero aún no es el fin.

8 F or nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines and calamities. This is but the beginning of the intolerable anguish and suffering '> birth pangs].

Porque se levantará nación contra nación, y reino contra reino; y habrá terremotos en muchos lugares, y habrá hambres y alborotos; principios de dolores son estos.

9 B ut look to yourselves; for they will turn you over to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake as a testimony to them.

Pero mirad por vosotros mismos; porque os entregarán a los concilios, y en las sinagogas os azotarán; y delante de gobernadores y de reyes os llevarán por causa de mí, para testimonio a ellos.

10 A nd the good news (the Gospel) must first be preached to all nations.

Y es necesario que el evangelio sea predicado antes a todas las naciones.

11 N ow when they take you and put you under arrest, do not be anxious beforehand about what you are to say nor meditate about it; but say whatever is given you in that hour and at the moment, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

Pero cuando os trajeren para entregaros, no os preocupéis por lo que habéis de decir, ni lo penséis, sino lo que os fuere dado en aquella hora, eso hablad; porque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino el Espíritu Santo.

12 A nd brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; and children will take a stand against their parents and them put to death.

Y el hermano entregará a la muerte al hermano, y el padre al hijo; y se levantarán los hijos contra los padres, y los matarán.

13 A nd you will be hated and detested by everybody for My name’s sake, but he who patiently perseveres and endures to the end will be saved ( made a partaker of the salvation by Christ, and delivered from spiritual death).

Y seréis aborrecidos de todos por causa de mi nombre; mas el que persevere hasta el fin, éste será salvo.

14 B ut when you see the abomination of desolation mentioned by Daniel the prophet standing where it ought not to be— let the one who reads take notice and consider and understand and heed —then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

Pero cuando veáis la abominación desoladora de que habló el profeta Daniel, puesta donde no debe estar (el que lee, entienda), entonces los que estén en Judea huyan a los montes.

15 L et him who is on the housetop not go down into the house nor go inside to take anything out of his house;

El que esté en la azotea, no descienda a la casa, ni entre para tomar algo de su casa;

16 A nd let him who is in the field not turn back again to get his mantle (cloak).

y el que esté en el campo, no vuelva atrás a tomar su capa.

17 A nd alas for those who are pregnant and for those who have nursing babies in those days!

Mas!! ay de las que estén encintas, y de las que críen en aquellos días!

18 P ray that it may not occur in winter,

Orad, pues, que vuestra huida no sea en invierno;

19 F or at that time there will be such affliction (oppression and tribulation) as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created until this particular time—and positively never will be.

porque aquellos días serán de tribulación cual nunca ha habido desde el principio de la creación que Dios creó, hasta este tiempo, ni la habrá.

20 A nd unless the Lord had shortened the days, no human being would be saved (rescued); but for the sake of the elect, His chosen ones (those whom He picked out for Himself), He has shortened the days.

Y si el Señor no hubiese acortado aquellos días, nadie sería salvo; mas por causa de los escogidos que él escogió, acortó aquellos días.

21 A nd then if anyone says to you, See, here is the Christ (the Messiah)! or, Look, there He is! do not believe it.

Entonces si alguno os dijere: Mirad, aquí está el Cristo; o, mirad, allí está, no le creáis.

22 F alse Christs (Messiahs) and false prophets will arise and show signs and miracles to deceive and lead astray, if possible, even the elect (those God has chosen out for Himself).

Porque se levantarán falsos Cristos y falsos profetas, y harán señales y prodigios, para engañar, si fuese posible, aun a los escogidos.

23 B ut look to yourselves and be on your guard; I have told you everything beforehand.

Mas vosotros mirad; os lo he dicho todo antes. La venida del Hijo del Hombre (Mt. 24. 29-35, 42-44; Lc. 21. 25-36)

24 B ut in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

Pero en aquellos días, después de aquella tribulación, el sol se oscurecerá, y la luna no dará su resplandor,

25 A nd the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

y las estrellas caerán del cielo, y las potencias que están en los cielos serán conmovidas.

26 A nd then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great (kingly) power and glory (majesty and splendor).

Entonces verán al Hijo del Hombre, que vendrá en las nubes con gran poder y gloria.

27 A nd then He will send out the angels and will gather together His elect (those He has picked out for Himself) from the four winds, from the farthest bounds of the earth to the farthest bounds of heaven.

Y entonces enviará sus ángeles, y juntará a sus escogidos de los cuatro vientos, desde el extremo de la tierra hasta el extremo del cielo.

28 N ow learn a lesson from the fig tree: as soon as its branch becomes tender and it puts forth its leaves, you recognize and know that summer is near.

De la higuera aprended la parábola: Cuando ya su rama está tierna, y brotan las hojas, sabéis que el verano está cerca.

29 S o also, when you see these things happening, you may recognize and know that He is near, at door.

Así también vosotros, cuando veáis que suceden estas cosas, conoced que está cerca, a las puertas.

30 S urely I say to you, this generation ( the whole multitude of people living at that one time) positively will not perish or pass away before all these things take place.

De cierto os digo, que no pasará esta generación hasta que todo esto acontezca.

31 H eaven and earth will perish and pass away, but My words will not perish or pass away.

El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.

32 B ut of that day or that hour not a person knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Pero de aquel día y de la hora nadie sabe, ni aun los ángeles que están en el cielo, ni el Hijo, sino el Padre.

33 B e on your guard, and watch and pray; for you do not know when the time will come.

Mirad, velad y orad; porque no sabéis cuándo será el tiempo.

34 I t is like a man '> already] going on a journey; when he leaves home, he puts his servants in charge, each with his particular task, and he gives orders to the doorkeeper to be constantly alert and on the watch.

Es como el hombre que yéndose lejos, dejó su casa, y dio autoridad a sus siervos, y a cada uno su obra, y al portero mandó que velase.

35 T herefore watch (give strict attention, be cautious and alert), for you do not know when the Master of the house is coming—in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrowing, or in the morning—

Velad, pues, porque no sabéis cuándo vendrá el señor de la casa; si al anochecer, o a la medianoche, o al canto del gallo, o a la mañana;

36 l est He come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you asleep.

para que cuando venga de repente, no os halle durmiendo.

37 A nd what I say to you I say to everybody: Watch (give strict attention, be cautious, active, and alert)!

Y lo que a vosotros digo, a todos lo digo: Velad.
