1 G od, the nations have come into your inheritance. They have defiled your holy temple. They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

Ó Deus, as nações invadiram a tua herança, profanaram o teu santo templo, reduziram Jerusalém a ruínas.

2 T hey have given the dead bodies of your servants to be food for the birds of the sky, the flesh of your saints to the animals of the earth.

Deram os cadáveres dos teus servos às aves do céu por alimento, a carne dos teus fiéis, aos animais selvagens.

3 T heir blood they have shed like water around Jerusalem. There was no one to bury them.

Derramaram o sangue deles como água ao redor de Jerusalém, e não há ninguém para sepultá-los.

4 W e have become a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and derision to those who are around us.

Somos objeto de zombaria para os nossos vizinhos, de riso e menosprezo para os que vivem ao nosso redor.

5 H ow long, Yahweh? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?

Até quando, Senhor ? Ficarás irado para sempre? Arderá o teu ciúme como o fogo?

6 P our out your wrath on the nations that don’t know you; on the kingdoms that don’t call on your name;

Derrama a tua ira sobre as nações que não te reconhecem, sobre os reinos que não invocam o teu nome,

7 F or they have devoured Jacob, and destroyed his homeland.

pois devoraram Jacó, deixando em ruínas a sua terra.

8 D on’t hold the iniquities of our forefathers against us. Let your tender mercies speedily meet us, for we are in desperate need.

Não cobres de nós as maldades dos nossos antepassados; venha depressa ao nosso encontro a tua misericórdia, pois estamos totalmente desanimados!

9 H elp us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake.

Ajuda-nos, ó Deus, nosso Salvador, para a glória do teu nome; livra-nos e perdoa os nossos pecados, por amor do teu nome.

10 W hy should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, that vengeance for your servants’ blood is being poured out.

Por que as nações haverão de dizer: “Onde está o Deus deles?” Diante dos nossos olhos, mostra às nações a tua vingança pelo sangue dos teus servos.

11 L et the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to death.

Cheguem à tua presença os gemidos dos prisioneiros. Pela força do teu braço preserva os condenados à morte.

12 P ay back to our neighbors seven times into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached you, Lord.

Retribui sete vezes mais aos nossos vizinhos as afrontas com que te insultaram, Senhor!

13 S o we, your people and sheep of your pasture, will give you thanks forever. We will praise you forever, to all generations.

Então nós, o teu povo, as ovelhas das tuas pastagens, para sempre te louvaremos; de geração em geração cantaremos os teus louvores.
