1 U nless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.

Se não for o Senhor o construtor da casa, será inútil trabalhar na construção. Se não é o Senhor que vigia a cidade, será inútil a sentinela montar guarda.

2 I t is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

Será inútil levantar cedo e dormir tarde, trabalhando arduamente por alimento. O Senhor concede o sono àqueles a quem ele ama.

Os filhos são herança do Senhor, uma recompensa que ele dá.

Como flechas nas mãos do guerreiro são os filhos nascidos na juventude.
