1 A bram went up out of Egypt—he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him—into the South.

Saiu, pois, Abrão do Egito e foi para o Neguebe, com sua mulher e com tudo o que possuía, e Ló foi com ele.

2 A bram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.

Abrão tinha enriquecido muito, tanto em gado como em prata e ouro.

3 H e went on his journeys from the South even to Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

Ele partiu do Neguebe em direção a Betel, indo de um lugar a outro, até que chegou ao lugar entre Betel e Ai onde já havia armado acampamento anteriormente

4 t o the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on Yahweh’s name.

e onde, pela primeira vez, tinha construído um altar. Ali Abrão invocou o nome do Senhor.

5 L ot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.

Ló, que acompanhava Abrão, também possuía rebanhos e tendas.

6 T he land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their substance was great, so that they could not live together.

E não podiam morar os dois juntos na mesma região, porque possuíam tantos bens que a terra não podia sustentá-los.

7 T here was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time.

Por isso surgiu uma desavença entre os pastores dos rebanhos de Abrão e os de Ló. Nessa época os cananeus e os ferezeus habitavam aquela terra.

8 A bram said to Lot, “Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.

Então Abrão disse a Ló: “Não haja desavença entre mim e você, ou entre os seus pastores e os meus; afinal somos irmãos!

9 I sn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”

Aí está a terra inteira diante de você. Vamos separar-nos. Se você for para a esquerda, irei para a direita; se for para a direita, irei para a esquerda”.

10 L ot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

Olhou então Ló e viu todo o vale do Jordão, todo ele bem irrigado, até Zoar; era como o jardim do Senhor, como a terra do Egito. Isto se deu antes de o Senhor destruir Sodoma e Gomorra.

11 S o Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves the one from the other.

Ló escolheu todo o vale do Jordão e partiu em direção ao leste. Assim os dois se separaram:

12 A bram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

Abrão ficou na terra de Canaã, mas Ló mudou seu acampamento para um lugar próximo a Sodoma, entre as cidades do vale.

13 N ow the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against Yahweh.

Ora, os homens de Sodoma eram extremamente perversos e pecadores contra o Senhor. A Promessa de Deus a Abrão

14 Y ahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, “Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,

Disse o Senhor a Abrão, depois que Ló separou-se dele: “De onde você está, olhe para o norte, para o sul, para o leste e para o oeste:

15 f or all the land which you see, I will give to you, and to your offspring forever.

toda a terra que você está vendo darei a você e à sua descendência para sempre.

16 I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be numbered.

Tornarei a sua descendência tão numerosa como o pó da terra. Se for possível contar o pó da terra, também se poderá contar a sua descendência.

17 A rise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you.”

Percorra esta terra de alto a baixo, de um lado a outro, porque eu a darei a você”.

18 A bram moved his tent, and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to Yahweh.

Então Abrão mudou seu acampamento e passou a viver próximo aos carvalhos de Manre, em Hebrom, onde construiu um altar dedicado ao Senhor.
