1 H ear this word that Yahweh has spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:

Ouçam esta palavra que o Senhor falou contra vocês, ó israelitas; contra toda esta família que tirei do Egito:

2 “ You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins.”

“Escolhi apenas vocês de todas as famílias da terra; por isso eu os castigarei por todas as suas maldades”.

3 D o two walk together, unless they have agreed?

Duas pessoas andarão juntas se não estiverem de acordo ?

4 W ill a lion roar in the thicket, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?

O leão ruge na floresta se não apanhou presa alguma? O leão novo ruge em sua toca se nada caçou?

5 C an a bird fall in a trap on the earth, where no snare is set for him? Does a snare spring up from the ground, when there is nothing to catch?

Cai o pássaro numa armadilha que não foi armada? Será que a armadilha se desarma se nada foi apanhado?

6 D oes the trumpet alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and Yahweh hasn’t done it?

Quando a trombeta toca na cidade, o povo não treme? Ocorre alguma desgraça na cidade sem que o Senhor a tenha mandado?

7 S urely the Lord Yahweh will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.

Certamente o Senhor, o Soberano, não faz coisa alguma sem revelar o seu plano aos seus servos, os profetas.

8 T he lion has roared. Who will not fear? The Lord Yahweh has spoken. Who can but prophesy?

O leão rugiu, quem não temerá? O Senhor, o Soberano, falou, quem não profetizará?

9 P roclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, “Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see what unrest is in her, and what oppression is among them.”

Proclamem nos palácios de Asdode e do Egito: “Reúnam-se nos montes de Samaria para verem o grande tumulto que há ali, e a opressão no meio do seu povo”.

10 “ Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says Yahweh, “Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.”

“Eles não sabem agir com retidão”, declara o Senhor, “eles, que acumulam em seus palácios o que roubaram e saquearam”.

11 T herefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “An adversary will overrun the land; and he will pull down your strongholds, and your fortresses will be plundered.”

Portanto, assim diz o Senhor, o Soberano: “Um inimigo cercará o país. Ele derrubará as suas fortalezas e saqueará os seus palácios”.

12 Y ahweh says: “As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.”

Assim diz o Senhor: “Assim como o pastor livra a ovelha, arrancando da boca do leão só dois ossos da perna ou um pedaço da orelha, assim serão arrancados os israelitas de Samaria, com a ponta de uma cama e um pedaço de sofá.

13 “ Listen, and testify against the house of Jacob,” says the Lord Yahweh, the God of Armies.

“Ouçam isto e testemunhem contra a descendência de Jacó”, declara o Senhor, o Soberano, o Deus dos Exércitos.

14 “ For in the day that I visit the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel; and the horns of the altar will be cut off, and fall to the ground.

“No dia em que eu castigar Israel por causa dos seus pecados, destruirei os altares de Betel; as pontas do altar serão cortadas e cairão no chão.

15 I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory will perish, and the great houses will have an end,” says Yahweh.

Derrubarei a casa de inverno junto com a casa de verão; as casas enfeitadas de marfim serão destruídas, e as mansões desaparecerão”, declara o Senhor.
