Бо Господь ось, Господь Саваот візьме з Єрусалиму й з Юдеї підпору й опору: усяку підпору від хліба, і всяку підпору води,

2 T he mighty man and the warrior, The judge and the prophet, The diviner and the elder,

лицаря та вояка, суддю та пророка, і чарівника та старого,

3 T he captain of fifty and the honorable man, The counselor and the expert artisan, And the skillful enchanter.

п'ятдесятника та родовитого, і радника, і в мистецтві премудрого, і в закляттях умілого,

4 A nd I will make mere lads their princes, And capricious children will rule over them,

і за правителів дам юнаків, і дітваки запанують над ними!

5 A nd the people will be oppressed, Each one by another, and each one by his neighbor; The youth will storm against the elder And the inferior against the honorable.

І буде чавити народ один одного, і кожен свого ближнього! Повстане хлопчак на старого, а легковажений на поважаного...

6 W hen a man lays hold of his brother in his father’s house, saying, “You have a cloak, you shall be our ruler, And these ruins will be under your charge,”

Бо схопить брат брата свого в домі батька свого та й скаже: Ти маєш одежу, то будь нашим правителем, і під рукою твоєю хай буде руїна оця!

7 H e will protest on that day, saying, “I will not be your healer, For in my house there is neither bread nor cloak; You should not appoint me ruler of the people.”

Того дня він підійме свій голос та й скаже: Не буду я рани обв'язувати вам, бо в домі моєму немає ні хліба, ні одягу, не настановляйте мене за правителя люду!

8 F or Jerusalem has stumbled and Judah has fallen, Because their speech and their actions are against the Lord, To rebel against His glorious presence.

Бо рухнув Єрусалим, і впала Юдея, бо їхній язик та їхній чин проти Господа, щоб упертими бути очам Його слави...

9 T he expression of their faces bears witness against them, And they display their sin like Sodom; They do not even conceal it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves.

Проти них свідчить вираз лиця їхнього, а гріх свій вони виявляють, немов той Содом, не перечать. Горе їхній душі, бо вчинили вони собі зло!

10 S ay to the righteous that it will go well with them, For they will eat the fruit of their actions.

Скажіте про праведного: Буде добре йому, бо вони споживуть плід учинків своїх.

11 W oe to the wicked! It will go badly with him, For what he deserves will be done to him.

Та горе безбожному, зле, бо йому буде зроблений чин його рук!

12 O My people! Their oppressors are children, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray And confuse the direction of your paths. God Will Judge

Народ Мій, дітиська його утискають, а жінки мають гору над ним... Народе ти Мій, твої провідники вчинили блудячим тебе, і дорогу стежок твоїх сплутали!

13 T he Lord arises to contend, And stands to judge the people.

Господь став на прю, і стоїть, щоб судити народи.

14 T he Lord enters into judgment with the elders and princes of His people, “It is you who have devoured the vineyard; The plunder of the poor is in your houses.

Господь іде на суд, щоб судитись з старшими народу Свого та з вождями його: Ви виноградника знищили, грабунок з убогого в ваших домах!

15 “ What do you mean by crushing My people And grinding the face of the poor?” Declares the Lord God of hosts. Judah’s Women Denounced

Що це сталося вам, що народ Мій ви гнобите та утискаєте вбогих? Так говорить Господь, Бог Саваот.

16 M oreover, the Lord said, “Because the daughters of Zion are proud And walk with heads held high and seductive eyes, And go along with mincing steps And tinkle the bangles on their feet,

І промовив Господь: Зате, що дочки Сіонські загорділи, і ходять витягненошиї, і моргають очима, і все ходять дрібними крочками, і дзвонять спряжками на ногах своїх,

17 T herefore the Lord will afflict the scalp of the daughters of Zion with scabs, And the Lord will make their foreheads bare.”

тому вчинить Господь тім'я Сіонських дочок паршивим, і їхній сором обнажить Господь!...

18 I n that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, headbands, crescent ornaments,

Того дня поскидає Господь окрасу спряжок на їхніх ногах, і чільця, і місяці,

19 d angling earrings, bracelets, veils,

сережки, нараменники, і серпанки,

20 h eaddresses, ankle chains, sashes, perfume boxes, amulets,

і завої, і ланцюжки на ногах, і пояски, і пляшечки з пахощами, і чарівничі привіски,

21 f inger rings, nose rings,

персні, і сережки носові,

22 f estal robes, outer tunics, cloaks, money purses,

чудові убрання, і окриття, і намітки та торби,

23 h and mirrors, undergarments, turbans and veils.

дзеркала й льняні хитони та турбани, і прозорі покривала.

24 N ow it will come about that instead of sweet perfume there will be putrefaction; Instead of a belt, a rope; Instead of well-set hair, a plucked-out scalp; Instead of fine clothes, a donning of sackcloth; And branding instead of beauty.

І станеться, замість бальзаму сморід буде, і замість пояса шнур, а замість мистецько укладених кучерів лисина, і замість хитона цінного верета з паском, а замість краси спаленина!

25 Y our men will fall by the sword And your mighty ones in battle.

Попадають мужі твої від меча, а лицарство твоє на війні,

26 A nd her gates will lament and mourn, And deserted she will sit on the ground.

і будуть стогнати та плакати ворота її, і буде спустошена, й сяде на землю Сіонська дочка...
