1 N ow in the ninth year of his reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, camped against it and built a siege wall all around it.

І сталося дев'ятого року його царювання, десятого місяця, десятого дня місяця, прийшов Навуходоносор, цар вавилонський, він та все військо його, на Єрусалим, і розтаборився проти нього, і побудували проти нього вала навколо.

2 S o the city was under siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

І було місто в облозі аж до одинадцятого року царя Седекії.

3 O n the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land.

Дев'ятого дня місяця настав сильний голод у місті, і не було хліба для народу Краю.

4 T hen the city was broken into, and all the men of war fled by night by way of the gate between the two walls beside the king’s garden, though the Chaldeans were all around the city. And they went by way of the Arabah.

І пробитий був пролім у мурі міста, і всі вояки повтікали вночі дорогою брами між двома мурами, що при царському садку, бо халдеї були при місті навколо. А цар утік дорогою в степ.

5 B ut the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho and all his army was scattered from him.

А халдейське військо погналося за царем, та й догнали його в єрихонських степах, а все його військо розпорошилося від нього.

6 T hen they captured the king and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and he passed sentence on him.

І схопили царя, і відвели його до вавилонського царя до Рівли, і там його той засудив.

7 T hey slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, then put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him with bronze fetters and brought him to Babylon. Jerusalem Burned and Plundered

А синів Седекії зарізали на його очах, а очі Седекії він вибрав, і скував його двома мідяними кайданами, та й відвів його до Вавилону...

8 N ow on the seventh day of the fifth month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.

А п'ятого місяця, сьомого дня місяця, це дев'ятнадцятий рік царя Навуходоносора, вавилонського царя, прийшов до Єрусалиму Невузар'адан, начальник царської сторожі, слуга вавилонського царя.

9 H e burned the house of the Lord, the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem; even every great house he burned with fire.

І він спалив дім Господній та дім царевий, і всі доми в Єрусалимі, і кожен великий дім спалив огнем.

10 S o all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

І мури навколо Єрусалиму порозбивало все халдейське військо, що було з начальником царської сторожі.

11 T hen the rest of the people who were left in the city and the deserters who had deserted to the king of Babylon and the rest of the people, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away into exile.

А решту народу, що позостався в місті, і тих, що перебігли до вавилонського царя, і решту простого люду повиганяв Невузар'адан, начальник царської сторожі.

12 B ut the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and plowmen.

А з бідноти Краю начальник царської сторожі позоставив декого за винярів та за рільників.

13 N ow the bronze pillars which were in the house of the Lord, and the stands and the bronze sea which were in the house of the Lord, the Chaldeans broke in pieces and carried the bronze to Babylon.

А мідяні стовпи, що в Господньому домі, і підстави, і мідяне море, що в Господньому домі, халдеї поламали, і віднесли їхню мідь до Вавилону.

14 T hey took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the spoons, and all the bronze vessels which were used in temple service.

І горнята, і лопатки, і ножі, і ложки, і ввесь мідяний посуд, що вживається при службі, позабирали.

15 T he captain of the guard also took away the firepans and the basins, what was fine gold and what was fine silver.

І кадильниці, і чаші, усе, що було золоте забрав золото, а що було срібне срібло взяв начальник царської сторожі.

16 T he two pillars, the one sea, and the stands which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord — the bronze of all these vessels was beyond weight.

Два стовпи, одне море та ті підстави, що Соломон поробив був для Господнього дому, не було й ваги для всіх цих речей!

17 T he height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a bronze capital was on it; the height of the capital was three cubits, with a network and pomegranates on the capital all around, all of bronze. And the second pillar was like these with network.

Вісімнадцять ліктів високість одного стовпа й одна мідяна маковиця, а високість маковиці три лікті, та мережка, і гранатові яблука на маковиці навколо, усе мідь. І для другого стовпа з мережкою так само.

18 T hen the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest and Zephaniah the second priest, with the three officers of the temple.

І начальник царської сторожі взяв Сераю, первосвященика, і Цефанію, другого священика, та трьох сторожів порога.

19 F rom the city he took one official who was overseer of the men of war, and five of the king’s advisers who were found in the city; and the scribe of the captain of the army who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the city.

А з міста взяв він одного євнуха, що був начальником над військовими, та п'ять чоловіка з тих, що бачать цареве обличчя, що були знайдені в місті, і писаря, зверхника військових відділів, що записував народ Краю до військових відділів, і шістдесят чоловіка з народу Краю, що знаходилися в місті.

20 N ebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.

І позабирав їх Невузар'адан, начальник царської сторожі, і відвів їх до вавилонсього царя, до Рівли.

21 T hen the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was led away into exile from its land. Gedaliah Made Governor

І вдарив їх вавилонський цар, і повбивав їх у Рівлі, у гаматовому краї. І пішов Юда на вигнання з своєї землі.

22 N ow as for the people who were left in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, he appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan over them.

А народ, що позостався в Юдиному краї, якого позоставив Навуходоносор, вавилонський цар, то настановив над ним Ґедалію, сина Ахікама, Шафанового сина.

23 W hen all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, namely, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

І почули всі військові зверхники, вони та люди, що вавилонський цар настановив Ґедалію, то поприходили до Ґедалії до Міцпи і Ізмаїл, син Нетаніїн, і Йоханан, син Кареахів, і Серая, син нетофатянина Танхумета, і Яазанія, син маахатянина, вони та їхні люди.

24 G edaliah swore to them and their men and said to them, “Do not be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans; live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.”

І присягнув Ґедалія їм та їхнім людям, і сказав їм: Не бійтеся бути підданими халдейцям, осядьте в Краї та служіть вавилонському цареві, і буде вам добре!

25 B ut it came about in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal family, came with ten men and struck Gedaliah down so that he died along with the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah.

І сталося сьомого місяця, прийшов Ізмаїл, син Нетанії, Елішамового сина, з царського насіння, та десять мужів із ним, і вдарили вони Ґедалію, і він помер, і юдеїв, і халдеїв, що були з ними в Міцпі.

26 T hen all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces arose and went to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.

І знявся ввесь народ, від малого й аж до великого, та зверхники військ, і пішов до Єгипту, бо боявся халдеїв.

27 N ow it came about in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he became king, released Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison;

І сталося тридцятого й сьомого року неволі Єгояхіна, Юдиного царя, дванадцятого місяця, двадцять сьомого дня місяця, Евіл-Меродах, цар вавилонський, у році свого зацарювання, змилувався над Єгояхіном, Юдиним царем, і вивів його з дому ув'язнення.

28 a nd he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon.

І він говорив із ним ласкаво, і поставив трона його понад трона царів, що були з ним у Вавилоні.

29 J ehoiachin changed his prison clothes and had his meals in the king’s presence regularly all the days of his life;

І змінив в'язничну одежу його, і він завжди їв хліб перед ним по всі дні свого життя.

30 a nd for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, a portion for each day, all the days of his life.

А їжа його, їжа стала, видавалася йому від царя, щоденне щоденно, по всі дні його життя.
