1 W hen He had come back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that He was at home.

Коли ж Він по кількох днях прийшов знов до Капернауму, то чутка пішла, що Він удома.

2 A nd many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them.

І зібралось багато, аж вони не вміщалися навіть при дверях. А Він їм виголошував слово.

3 A nd they came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four men.

І прийшли ось до Нього, несучи розслабленого, якого несли четверо.

4 B eing unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic was lying.

А що через народ до Нього наблизитися не могли, то стелю розкрили, де Він був, і пробравши, звісили ложе, що на ньому лежав розслаблений.

5 A nd Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, “ Son, your sins are forgiven.”

А Ісус, віру їхню побачивши, каже розслабленому: Відпускаються, сину, гріхи тобі!

6 B ut some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts,

Там же сиділи дехто з книжників, і в серцях своїх думали:

7 “ Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Чого Він говорить отак? Зневажає Він Бога... Хто може прощати гріхи, окрім Бога Самого?

8 I mmediately Jesus, aware in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, said to them, “Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts?

І зараз Ісус відчув Духом Своїм, що вони так міркують собі, і сказав їм: Що таке ви в серцях своїх думаєте?

9 W hich is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven’; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk’?

Що легше: сказати розслабленому: Гріхи відпускаються тобі, чи сказати: Уставай, візьми ложе своє та й ходи?

10 B ut so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” —He said to the paralytic,

Але щоб ви знали, що Син Людський має владу прощати гріхи на землі, каже розслабленому:

11 “ I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home.”

Тобі Я наказую: Уставай, візьми ложе своє, та й іди у свій дім!

12 A nd he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, “ We have never seen anything like this.”

І той устав, і негайно взяв ложе, і вийшов перед усіма, так що всі дивувались і славили Бога, й казали: Ніколи такого не бачили ми!

13 A nd He went out again by the seashore; and all the people were coming to Him, and He was teaching them. Levi (Matthew) Called

І вийшов над море Він знов. А ввесь натовп до Нього приходив, і Він їх навчав.

14 A s He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting in the tax booth, and He said to him, “ Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.

А коли Він проходив, то побачив Левія Алфієвого, що сидів на митниці, і каже йому: Іди за Мною! Той устав, і пішов услід за Ним.

15 A nd it happened that He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners were dining with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many of them, and they were following Him.

Коли ж Він сидів при столі в його домі, то багато митників і грішників сиділи з Ісусом та з учнями Його; бо було їх багато, і вони ходили за Ним.

16 W hen the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, “ Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?”

Як побачили ж книжники та фарисеї, що Він їсть із грішниками та з митниками, то сказали до учнів Його: Чому то Він їсть із митниками та з грішниками?

17 A nd hearing this, Jesus said to them, “ It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

А Ісус, як почув, промовляє до них: Лікаря не потребують здорові, а слабі. Я не прийшов кликати праведних, але грішників на покаяння.

18 J ohn’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they came and said to Him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”

А учні Іванові та фарисейські постили. І приходять вони, та й говорять до Нього: Чому учні Іванові та фарисейські постять, а учні Твої не постять?

19 A nd Jesus said to them, “While the bridegroom is with them, the attendants of the bridegroom cannot fast, can they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

Ісус же промовив до них: Хіба постити можуть гості весільні, поки з ними ще є молодий? Доки мають вони молодого з собою, то постити не можуть.

20 B ut the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

Але прийдуть ті дні, коли заберуть молодого від них, то й постити будуть вони за тих днів.

21 “ No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; otherwise the patch pulls away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear results.

І не пришиває ніхто до старої одежі латки з сукна сирового, а як ні, то край латки нової одірветься там від старого, і дірка стане ще гірша.

22 N o one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the skins as well; but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins.” Question of the Sabbath

І ніхто не вливає вина молодого в старі бурдюки, а то попрориває вино бурдюки, і вино й бурдюки пропадуть, а вливають вино молоде до нових бурдюків.

23 A nd it happened that He was passing through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples began to make their way along while picking the heads of grain.

І сталось, як Він переходив ланами в суботу, Його учні дорогою йшли, та й стали колосся зривати.

24 T he Pharisees were saying to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

Фарисеї ж казали Йому: Подивись, чому роблять у суботу вони, чого не годиться?

25 A nd He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions became hungry;

А Він їм відказав: Чи ж ви не читали ніколи, що зробив був Давид, як потребу він мав та сам зголоднів був і ті, що були з ним?

26 h ow he entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests, and he also gave it to those who were with him?”

Як він увійшов був до Божого дому за первосвященика Авіятара, і спожив хліби показні, яких їсти не можна було, тільки священикам, і дав він і тим, хто був із ним?

27 J esus said to them, “ The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

І сказав Він до них: Субота постала для чоловіка, а не чоловік для суботи,

28 S o the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

а тому то Син Людський Господь і суботі.
