1 ¶ Do not keep silence, O God; do not hold thy peace, and do not be still, O God.

(83: 1) Cantique. Psaume d'Asaph. (83: 2) O Dieu, ne reste pas dans le silence! Ne te tais pas, et ne te repose pas, ô Dieu!

2 F or, behold, thine enemies make a tumult, and those that hate thee have lifted up their head.

(83: 3) Car voici, tes ennemis s'agitent, Ceux qui te haïssent lèvent la tête.

3 T hey have taken prudent counsel in secret against thy people and consulted against thy hidden ones.

(83: 4) Ils forment contre ton peuple des projets pleins de ruse, Et ils délibèrent contre ceux que tu protèges.

4 T hey have said, Come and let us cut them off from being a people that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

(83: 5) Venez, disent-ils, exterminons-les du milieu des nations, Et qu'on ne se souvienne plus du nom d'Israël!

5 T herefore they have consulted together with one consent; they are confederate against thee:

(83: 6) Ils se concertent tous d'un même coeur, Ils font une alliance contre toi;

6 T he tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; of Moab and the Hagarenes;

(83: 7) Les tentes d'Édom et les Ismaélites, Moab et les Hagaréniens,

7 G ebal and Ammon and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;

(83: 8) Guebal, Ammon, Amalek, Les Philistins avec les habitants de Tyr;

8 A ssur also is joined with them: they are an arm unto the sons of Lot. Selah.

(83: 9) L'Assyrie aussi se joint à eux, Elle prête son bras aux enfants de Lot. Pause.

9 ¶ Do unto them as unto the Midianites, as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison,

(83: 10) Traite-les comme Madian, Comme Sisera, comme Jabin au torrent de Kison!

10 w ho perished at Endor; they became as dung for the earth.

(83: 11) Ils ont été détruits à En Dor, Ils sont devenus du fumier pour la terre.

11 M ake them and their captains like Oreb and like Zeeb; all their princes as Zebah and as Zalmunna:

(83: 12) Traite leurs chefs comme Oreb et Zeeb, Et tous leurs princes comme Zébach et Tsalmunna!

12 W ho have said, Let us inherit for ourselves the habitations of God.

(83: 13) Car ils disent: Emparons-nous Des demeures de Dieu!

13 O my God, make them like a whirlwind, as the stubble before the wind.

(83: 14) Mon Dieu! rends-les semblables au tourbillon, Au chaume qu'emporte le vent,

14 A s the fire burns a wood and as the flame sets the mountains on fire

(83: 15) Au feu qui brûle la forêt, A la flamme qui embrase les montagnes!

15 s o persecute them with thy tempest and make them afraid with thy whirlwind.

(83: 16) Poursuis-les ainsi de ta tempête, Et fais-les trembler par ton ouragan!

16 F ill their faces with shame that they may seek thy name, O LORD.

(83: 17) Couvre leur face d'ignominie, Afin qu'ils cherchent ton nom, ô Éternel!

17 L et them be confounded and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and perish

(83: 18) Qu'ils soient confus et épouvantés pour toujours, Qu'ils soient honteux et qu'ils périssent!

18 T hat they may know that thou, whose name alone is LORD, art the most high over all the earth.

(83: 19) Qu'ils sachent que toi seul, dont le nom est l'Éternel, Tu es le Très Haut sur toute la terre!
