1 ¶ In thee, O LORD, have I waited; let me not be forever put to shame.

Éternel! je cherche en toi mon refuge: Que jamais je ne sois confondu!

2 D eliver me in thy righteousness and cause me to escape; incline thine ear unto me and save me.

Dans ta justice, sauve-moi et délivre-moi! Incline vers moi ton oreille, et secours-moi!

3 B e thou my strong habitation unto which I may continually resort; thou hast given a commandment that I should be saved because thou art my rock and my fortress.

Sois pour moi un rocher qui me serve d'asile, Où je puisse toujours me retirer! Tu as résolu de me sauver, Car tu es mon rocher et ma forteresse.

4 D eliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the perverse and violent man.

Mon Dieu, délivre-moi de la main du méchant, De la main de l'homme inique et violent!

5 F or thou art my hope, O Lord GOD; thou art my security from my youth.

Car tu es mon espérance, Seigneur Éternel! En toi je me confie dès ma jeunesse.

6 B y thee have I been sustained from the womb; thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels; my praise has been continually of thee.

Dès le ventre de ma mère je m'appuie sur toi; C'est toi qui m'as fait sortir du sein maternel; tu es sans cesse l'objet de mes louanges.

7 I am as a wonder unto many, but thou art my strong refuge.

Je suis pour plusieurs comme un prodige, Et toi, tu es mon puissant refuge.

8 L et my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy glory all the day.

Que ma bouche soit remplie de tes louanges, Que chaque jour elle te glorifie!

9 D o not cast me off in the time of old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails.

Ne me rejette pas au temps de la vieillesse; Quand mes forces s'en vont, ne m'abandonne pas!

10 F or my enemies speak against me, and those that lay in wait for my soul take counsel together,

Car mes ennemis parlent de moi, Et ceux qui guettent ma vie se consultent entre eux,

11 s aying, God has forsaken him; persecute and take him for there is no one to deliver him.

Disant: Dieu l'abandonne; Poursuivez, saisissez-le; il n'y a personne pour le délivrer.

12 O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste for my help.

O Dieu, ne t'éloigne pas de moi! Mon Dieu, viens en hâte à mon secours!

13 L et them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.

Qu'ils soient confus, anéantis, ceux qui en veulent à ma vie! Qu'ils soient couverts de honte et d'opprobre, ceux qui cherchent ma perte!

14 ¶ But I will continually wait and will add upon all thy praise.

Et moi, j'espérerai toujours, Je te louerai de plus en plus.

15 M y mouth shall show forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day, for I know not the numbers thereof.

Ma bouche publiera ta justice, ton salut, chaque jour, Car j'ignore quelles en sont les bornes.

16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

Je dirai tes oeuvres puissantes, Seigneur Éternel! Je rappellerai ta justice, la tienne seule.

17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth and until now; I shall manifest thy wondrous works.

O Dieu! tu m'as instruit dès ma jeunesse, Et jusqu'à présent j'annonce tes merveilles.

18 N ow also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not until I have showed the strength of thy arm unto the next generation and thy power to every one that is to come,

Ne m'abandonne pas, ô Dieu! même dans la blanche vieillesse, Afin que j'annonce ta force à la génération présente, Ta puissance à la génération future!

19 a nd thy righteousness, O God, unto excellence because thou hast done great things; O God, who is like unto thee!

Ta justice, ô Dieu! atteint jusqu'au ciel; Tu as accompli de grandes choses: ô Dieu! qui est semblable à toi?

20 T hou who hast caused me to see great and sore troubles, shalt return and quicken me and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

Tu nous as fait éprouver bien des détresses et des malheurs; Mais tu nous redonneras la vie, Tu nous feras remonter des abîmes de la terre.

21 T hou shalt increase my greatness and comfort me on every side.

Relève ma grandeur, Console-moi de nouveau!

22 I will also praise thee with an instrument of the psaltery, O my God; unto thee will I sing thy truth with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.

Et je te louerai au son du luth, je chanterai ta fidélité, mon Dieu, Je te célébrerai avec la harpe, Saint d'Israël!

23 M y lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing praises unto thee and my soul, which thou hast ransomed.

En te célébrant, j'aurai la joie sur les lèvres, La joie dans mon âme que tu as délivrée;

24 I n the same manner my tongue shall talk of thy righteousness every day, for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

Ma langue chaque jour publiera ta justice, Car ceux qui cherchent ma perte sont honteux et confus.
