1 ¶ And Israel took his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.

Israël partit, avec tout ce qui lui appartenait. Il arriva à Beer Schéba, et il offrit des sacrifices au Dieu de son père Isaac.

2 A nd God spoke unto Israel in visions of the night and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

Dieu parla à Israël dans une vision pendant la nuit, et il dit: Jacob! Jacob! Israël répondit: Me voici!

3 A nd he said, I am the God, the God of thy father; fear not to go down into Egypt; for there I will make of thee a great people.

Et Dieu dit: Je suis le Dieu, le Dieu de ton père. Ne crains point de descendre en Égypte, car là je te ferai devenir une grande nation.

4 I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again; and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.

Moi-même je descendrai avec toi en Égypte, et moi-même je t'en ferai remonter; et Joseph te fermera les yeux.

5 ¶ And Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel took Jacob their father and their little ones and their wives in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

Jacob quitta Beer Schéba; et les fils d'Israël mirent Jacob, leur père, avec leurs enfants et leurs femmes, sur les chars que Pharaon avait envoyés pour les transporter.

6 A nd they took their cattle and their goods which they had gotten in the land of Canaan and came into Egypt, Jacob and all his seed with him,

Ils prirent aussi leurs troupeaux et les biens qu'ils avaient acquis dans le pays de Canaan. Et Jacob se rendit en Égypte, avec toute sa famille.

7 h is sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and all his seed he brought with him into Egypt.

Il emmena avec lui en Égypte ses fils et les fils de ses fils, ses filles et les filles de ses fils, et toute sa famille.

8 A nd these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.

Voici les noms des fils d'Israël, qui vinrent en Égypte. Jacob et ses fils. Premier-né de Jacob: Ruben.

9 A nd the sons of Reuben: Enoch, Phallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

Fils de Ruben: Hénoc, Pallu, Hetsron et Carmi.

10 A nd the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Saul the son of a Canaanite woman.

Fils de Siméon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin et Tsochar; et Saul, fils de la Cananéenne.

11 A nd the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Fils de Lévi: Guerschon, Kehath et Merari.

12 A nd the sons of Judah: Er and Onan and Shelah and Pharez and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

Fils de Juda: Er, Onan, Schéla, Pérets et Zarach; mais Er et Onan moururent au pays de Canaan. Les fils de Pérets furent Hetsron et Hamul.

13 A nd the sons of Issachar: Tola, Phuvah, Job, and Shimron.

Fils d'Issacar: Thola, Puva, Job et Schimron.

14 A nd the sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

Fils de Zabulon: Séred, Élon et Jahleel.

15 T hese are the sons of Leah, whom she bore unto Jacob in Padanaram, with his daughter Dinah; all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.

Ce sont là les fils que Léa enfanta à Jacob à Paddan Aram, avec sa fille Dina. Ses fils et ses filles formaient en tout trente-trois personnes.

16 A nd the sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.

Fils de Gad: Tsiphjon, Haggi, Schuni, Etsbon, Éri, Arodi et Areéli.

17 A nd the sons of Asher: Jimnah, Ishuah, Isui, Beriah, and Serah, their sister. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.

Fils d'Aser: Jimna, Jischva, Jischvi et Beria; et Sérach, leur soeur. Et les fils de Beria: Héber et Malkiel.

18 T hese are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she gave birth unto Jacob: sixteen souls.

Ce sont là les fils de Zilpa, que Laban avait donnée à Léa, sa fille; et elle les enfanta à Jacob. En tout, seize personnes.

19 T he sons of Rachel, Jacob’s wife: Joseph and Benjamin.

Fils de Rachel, femme de Jacob: Joseph et Benjamin.

20 A nd unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On gave birth unto him.

Il naquit à Joseph, au pays d'Égypte, Manassé et Éphraïm, que lui enfanta Asnath, fille de Poti Phéra, prêtre d'On.

21 A nd the sons of Benjamin were Belah, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

Fils de Benjamin: Béla, Béker, Aschbel, Guéra, Naaman, Éhi, Rosch, Muppim, Huppim et Ard.

22 T hese are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob, in all, fourteen souls.

Ce sont là les fils de Rachel, qui naquirent à Jacob. En tout, quatorze personnes.

23 A nd the sons of Dan: Hushim.

Fils de Dan: Huschim.

24 A nd the sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.

Fils de Nephthali: Jathtseel, Guni, Jetser et Schillem.

25 T hese are the sons of Bilhah, who Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she gave birth to these unto Jacob; in all seven souls.

Ce sont là les fils de Bilha, que Laban avait donnée à Rachel, sa fille; et elle les enfanta à Jacob. En tout, sept personnes.

26 A ll the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were sixty-six;

Les personnes qui vinrent avec Jacob en Égypte, et qui étaient issues de lui, étaient au nombre de soixante-six en tout, sans compter les femmes des fils de Jacob.

27 a nd the sons of Joseph, who were born him in Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, who came into Egypt, were seventy.

Et Joseph avait deux fils qui lui étaient nés en Égypte. Le total des personnes de la famille de Jacob qui vinrent en Égypte était de soixante-dix.

28 ¶ And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

Jacob envoya Juda devant lui vers Joseph, pour l'informer qu'il se rendait en Gosen.

29 A nd Joseph made ready his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and manifested himself unto him; and he fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while.

Joseph attela son char et y monta, pour aller en Gosen, à la rencontre d'Israël, son père. Dès qu'il le vit, il se jeta à son cou, et pleura longtemps sur son cou.

30 T hen Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die since I have seen thy face because thou art yet alive.

Israël dit à Joseph: Que je meure maintenant, puisque j'ai vu ton visage et que tu vis encore!

31 A nd Joseph said unto his brethren and unto his father’s house, I will go up and tell Pharaoh and say unto him, My brethren and my father’s house, who were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;

Joseph dit à ses frères et à la famille de son père: Je vais avertir Pharaon, et je lui dirai: Mes frères et la famille de mon père, qui étaient au pays de Canaan, sont arrivés auprès de moi.

32 a nd the men are pastors of sheep, for their trade has been to feed livestock; and they have brought their sheep and their cows and all that they have.

Ces hommes sont bergers, car ils élèvent des troupeaux; ils ont amené leurs brebis et leurs boeufs, et tout ce qui leur appartient.

33 A nd it shall come to pass when Pharaoh shall call you and shall say, What is your occupation?

Et quand Pharaon vous appellera, et dira:

34 T hen ye shall say, Thy slaves’ trade has been about livestock from our youth even until now, both we and also our fathers, that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every pastor of sheep is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

Quelle est votre occupation? vous répondrez: Tes serviteurs ont élevé des troupeaux, depuis notre jeunesse jusqu'à présent, nous et nos pères. De cette manière, vous habiterez dans le pays de Gosen, car tous les bergers sont en abomination aux Égyptiens.
