O Lord, remember David and all of his suffering.

2 I l jura à l'Éternel, Il fit ce voeu au puissant de Jacob:

Remember how he swore to the Lord, and how he made a promise to the Powerful One of Jacob:

3 J e n'entrerai pas dans la tente où j'habite, Je ne monterai pas sur le lit où je repose,

“For sure I will not go into my house or lie on my bed,

4 J e ne donnerai ni sommeil à mes yeux, Ni assoupissement à mes paupières.

or let sleep come and close my eyes,

5 J usqu'à ce que j'aie trouvé un lieu pour l'Éternel, Une demeure pour le puissant de Jacob.

until I find a place for the Lord, a house of worship for the Powerful One of Jacob.”

6 V oici, nous en entendîmes parler à Éphrata, Nous la trouvâmes dans les champs de Jaar...

7 A llons à sa demeure, Prosternons-nous devant son marchepied!...

Let us go into the House of God. Let us worship at His feet.

8 L ève-toi, Éternel, viens à ton lieu de repos, Toi et l'arche de ta majesté!

Rise up, O Lord. Go to the place where You can rest, You and the special box of the Way of Worship which is Your strength.

9 Q ue tes sacrificateurs soient revêtus de justice, Et que tes fidèles poussent des cris de joie!

Let Your religious leaders be dressed with what is right and good. And let those who belong to You sing for joy.

10 A cause de David, ton serviteur, Ne repousse pas ton oint!

Because of David Your servant, do not turn away from Your chosen one.

11 L 'Éternel a juré la vérité à David, Il n'en reviendra pas; Je mettrai sur ton trône un fruit de tes entrailles.

The Lord has made a sure promise to David that He will never break: “I will set upon your throne your own children.

12 S i tes fils observent mon alliance Et mes préceptes que je leur enseigne, Leurs fils aussi pour toujours Seront assis sur ton trône.

If your sons will keep My Law and My Word which I will teach them, then their sons will sit upon your throne forever.”

13 O ui, l'Éternel a choisi Sion, Il l'a désirée pour sa demeure:

For the Lord has chosen Zion. He has wanted it for a place to live:

14 C 'est mon lieu de repos à toujours; J'y habiterai, car je l'ai désirée.

“This is the place where I can rest forever. Here I will live, for I have wanted it.

15 J e bénirai sa nourriture, Je rassasierai de pain ses indigents;

I will give her many good things. I will give her poor people much bread.

16 J e revêtirai de salut ses sacrificateurs, Et ses fidèles pousseront des cris de joie.

I will dress her religious leaders with saving power. And those in her that belong to Me will sing for joy.

17 L à j'élèverai la puissance de David, Je préparerai une lampe à mon oint,

There I will make the horn of David grow and will make a lamp ready for My chosen one.

18 J e revêtirai de honte ses ennemis, Et sur lui brillera sa couronne.

I will dress those who hate him with shame. But the crown on him will shine.”
