1 A tëherë u ngrit gjithë asambleja dhe e çuan te Pilati.

Then the whole assembly of them got up and conducted before Pilate.

2 D he filluan ta paditin duke thënë: “Këtë ne e gjetëm që përmbyste kombin tonë dhe ndalonte t’i jepeshin taksa Cezarit, duke u vetëquajtur një mbret, Krishti.”

And they began to accuse Him, asserting, We found this Man perverting (misleading, corrupting, and turning away) our nation and forbidding to pay tribute to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), a King!

3 A tëherë Pilati e pyeti duke thënë: “A je ti mbreti i Judenjve?.” Dhe Jezusi iu përgjigj dhe tha: “Ti po thua.”

So Pilate asked Him, Are You the King of the Jews? And He answered him, '> It is just as] you say.

4 P ilati u tha atëherë krerëve të priftërinjve dhe popullit: “Unë nuk po gjej asnjë faj te ky njeri.”

And Pilate said to the chief priests and the throngs, I find no guilt or crime in this Man.

5 P or ata ngulnin këmbë, duke thënë: “Ai po ngre popullin në kryengritje duke mësuar në mbarë Judenë, që nga Galilea e deri këtu.”

But they were urgent and emphatic, saying, He stirs up and excites the people, teaching throughout all Judea—from Galilee, where He began, even to this place.

6 A tëherë Pilati, kur dëgjoi se u fol për Galilenë, pyeti në se ai njeri ishte Galileas.

Upon hearing this, Pilate asked whether the Man was a Galilean.

7 D he kur mori vesh se ai i takonte juridiksionit të Herodit, e dërgoi te Herodi, i cili, ndër ato ditë, ndodhej edhe ai në Jeruzalem.

And when he found out that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him up to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem in those days.

8 K ur Herodi pa Jezusin, u gëzua shumë; prej shumë kohësh ai donte ta shihte, sepse kishte dëgjuar shumë për të dhe shpresonte të shihte ndonjë mrekulli të kryer prej tij.

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had eagerly desired to see Him for a long time because of what he had heard concerning Him, and he was hoping to witness some sign (some striking evidence or spectacular performance) done by Him.

9 A i i drejtoi shumë pyetje, por Jezusi nuk u përgjigj fare.

So he asked Him many questions, but He made no reply.

10 N dërkaq krerët e priftërinjve dhe skribët rrinin aty dhe e paditnin me furi.

Meanwhile, the chief priests and the scribes stood by, continuing vehemently and violently to accuse Him.

11 A tëherë Herodi, me ushtarët e vet, mbasi e fyu dhe e talli, e veshi me një rrobe të shkëlqyeshme dhe ia riktheu Pilatit.

And Herod, with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt and scoffed at and ridiculed Him; then, dressing Him up in bright and gorgeous apparel, he sent Him back to Pilate.

12 A të ditë Herodi dhe Pilati u bënë miq me njëri-tjetrin, ndërsa më parë ishin armiq.

And that very day Herod and Pilate became friends with each other— they had been at enmity before this.

13 A tëherë Pilati, mblodhi krerët e priftërinjve, kryetarët dhe popullin,

Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

14 d he u tha atyre: “Ju më prutë këtë njeri si çoroditës të popullit; dhe ja, unë, pasi e hetova para jush, nuk kam gjetur tek ai asnjë nga fajet për të cilat ju e paditni,

And said to them, You brought this Man before me as One Who was perverting and misleading and turning away and corrupting the people; and behold, after examining Him before you, I have not found any offense (crime or guilt) in this Man in regard to your accusations against Him;

15 d he as Herodi, sepse na e ktheu përsëri te ne; në fakt ai s’ka bërë asgjë që të meritojë vdekjen.

No, nor indeed did Herod, for he sent Him back to us; behold, He has done nothing deserving of death.

16 P randaj, pasi ta fshikullojnë, do ta lëshoj.”

I will therefore chastise Him and deliver Him amended (reformed, taught His lesson) and release Him.

17 T ani me rastin e festës së Pashkës qeveritari duhet të lironte dikë.

For it was necessary for him to release to them one prisoner at the Feast.

18 P or ata, të gjithë njëzeri, bërtitën duke thënë: “Vraje këtë dhe na liro Barabën.”

But they all together raised a deep cry, saying, Away with this Man! Release to us Barabbas!

19 K y ishte hedhur në burg për një trazirë të bërë në qytet dhe për vrasje.

He was a man who had been thrown into prison for raising a riot in the city, and for murder.

20 P randaj Pilati, duke dashur të lëshojë Jezusin, u foli përsëri.

Once more Pilate called to them, wishing to release Jesus;

21 P or ata bërtitnin duke thënë: “Kryqëzoje!.”

But they kept shouting out, Crucify, crucify Him!

22 P ër të tretën herë ai u tha atyre: “Po ç’të keqe bëri ky? Unë nuk gjeta në të asnjë faj që të meritojë vdekjen. Prandaj, pasi ta fshikullojnë, do ta lëshoj.”

A third time he said to them, Why? What wrong has He done? I have found in Him nothing deserving of death; I will therefore chastise Him '> in order to teach Him better] and release Him.

23 P or ata ngulnin këmbë me britma te mëdha duke kërkuar që ta kryqëzonin; dhe britmat e tyre dhe të krerëve të priftërinjve u bënë mbisunduese.

But they were insistent and urgent, demanding with loud cries that He should be crucified. And their voices prevailed (accomplished their purpose).

24 A tëherë Pilat vendosi që të bëhej çka ata kërkonin.

And Pilate gave sentence, that what they asked should be done.

25 D he ua lëshoi atë që qe burgosur për trazirë dhe vrasje dhe që ata e kishin kërkuar; dhe Jezusin ia dorëzoi vullnetit të tyre.

So he released the man who had been thrown into prison for riot and murder, for whom they continued to ask, but Jesus he delivered up to be done with as they willed.

26 N dërsa po e çonin, kapën njëfarë Simoni nga Kirena, që po kthehej nga fusha, e ngarkuan me kryqin që ta mbarte pas Jezusit.

And as they led Him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross and made him carry it behind Jesus.

27 D he e ndiqte një turmë e madhe populli dhe disa gra që hidhëroheshin dhe vajtonin për të.

And there accompanied a great multitude of the people, women who bewailed and lamented Him.

28 P or Jezusi u kthye nga ato dhe u tha: “O bija të Jeruzalemit, mos qani për mua, por qani për veten tuaj dhe për fëmijët tuaj.

But Jesus, turning toward them, said, Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

29 S epse ja, do të vijnë ditët kur do të thuhet: "Lum gratë shterpe dhe lum barqet që nuk kanë pjellë dhe gjinjtë që nuk kanë mëndur!".

For behold, the days are coming during which they will say, Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the breasts that have never nursed!

30 A tëherë do të fillojnë t’u thonë maleve: "Bini përmbi ne!," dhe kodrave: "Na mbuloni!".

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us! and to the hills, Cover (conceal, hide) us!

31 S epse, në se bëhet kështu me drurin e njomë, ç’do të bëhet me të thatin?".

For if they do these things when the timber is green, what will happen when it is dry?

32 D he dy të tjerë, që ishin keqbërës, i prunë bashkë me të, për t’i vrarë.

Two others also, who were criminals, were led away to be executed with Him.

33 D he kur arritën në vendin që quhet “Kafka,” aty e kryqëzuan atë dhe keqbërësit, njërin në të djathtë dhe tjetri në të majtë.

And when they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left.

34 D he Jezusi tha: “O Atë, fali ata sepse nuk dinë ç’bëjnë.” Pastaj, pasi i ndanë rrobat e tij, hodhën short.

And Jesus prayed, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And they divided His garments and distributed them by casting lots for them.

35 D he populli rrinte aty për të parë; dhe kryetarët me popullin e përqeshnin, duke thënë: “Ai i shpëtoi të tjerët, le të shpëtojë veten, po qe se me të vërtetë është Krishti, i zgjedhuri i Perëndisë.”

Now the people stood by '> calmly and leisurely] watching; but the rulers scoffed and sneered ( turned up their noses) at Him, saying, He rescued others '> from death]; let Him now rescue Himself, if He is the Christ (the Messiah) of God, His Chosen One!

36 E dhe ushtarët e tallnin, duke iu afruar dhe duke i ofruar uthull,

The soldiers also ridiculed and made sport of Him, coming up and offering Him vinegar (a sour wine mixed with water)

37 d he duke thënë: “Nëse ti je mbreti i Judenjve, shpëto veten.”

And saying, If you are the King of the Jews, save (rescue) Yourself '> from death].

38 P ërveç kësaj përmbi kryet e tij ishte një mbishkrim me shkronja greke, latine dhe hebraike: "KY ÉSHTÉ MBRETI I JUDENJVE".

For there was also an inscription above Him in letters of Greek and Latin and Hebrew: This is the King of the Jews.

39 T ani një nga keqberësit e kryqëzuar e shau duke thënë: “Nëse ti je Krishti, shpëto vetveten dhe neve.”

One of the criminals who was suspended kept up a railing at Him, saying, Are You not the Christ (the Messiah)? Rescue Yourself and us '> from death]!

40 P or ai tjetri duke e përgjigjur e qortoi duke i thënë: “A s’ke frikë nga Perëndia, që je nën të njëjtin dënim?

But the other one reproved him, saying, Do you not even fear God, seeing you yourself are under the same sentence of condemnation and suffering the same penalty?

41 N ë realitet, ne me të drejtë jemi dënuar, sepse po marrim ndëshkimin e merituar për ato që kemi kryer, ndërsa ky nuk ka bërë asnjë të keqe.”

And we indeed suffer it justly, receiving the due reward of our actions; but this Man has done nothing out of the way '> strange or eccentric or perverse or unreasonable].

42 P astaj i tha Jezusit: “Zot, kujtohu për mua kur të vish në mbretërinë tënde.”

Then he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when You come in Your kingly glory!

43 A tëherë Jezusi i tha: “Në të vërtetë po të them: sot do të jesh me mua në parajsë.”

And He answered him, Truly I tell you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.

44 I shte afërsisht ora e gjashtë dhe errësira e mbuloi gjithë vendin deri në orën e nëntë.

It was now about the sixth hour (midday), and darkness enveloped the whole land and earth until the ninth hour (about three o’clock in the afternoon),

45 D ielli u err dhe perdja e tempullit u nda në mes.

While the sun’s light faded or was darkened; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

46 D he Jezusi bërtiti me zë të lartë dhe tha: “O Atë, në duart e tua po e dorëzoj frymën tim!.” Dhe, si tha këto, dha fryma.

And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit! And with these words, He expired.

47 A tëherë centurioni, kur pa ç’ndodhi, përlëvdoi Perëndinë duke thënë: “Me të vërtetë ky njeri ishte i drejtë!.”

Now the centurion, having seen what had taken place, recognized God and thanked and praised Him, and said, Indeed, without question, this Man was upright (just and innocent)!

48 D he gjithë turma, që ishte mbledhur për të parë ç’po ndodhte, kur e pa këtë, u kthye duke rrahur kraharorin.

And all the throngs that had gathered to see this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned to their homes, beating their breasts.

49 T ë gjithë të njohurit e tij dhe gratë që e kishin ndjekur që nga Galilea qendronin larg, duke parë këto gjëra.

And all the acquaintances of and the women who had followed Him from Galilee stood at a distance and watched these things.

50 T ani ishte një burrë me emër Jozef, që ishte anëtar i sinedrit, njeri i drejtë dhe i mirë;

Now notice, there was a man named Joseph from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council (the Sanhedrin), and a good (upright, advantageous) man, and righteous (in right standing with God and man),

51 a i nuk kishte miratuar vendimin dhe veprimin e të tjerëve. Ai ishte nga Arimatea, qytet i Judesë dhe priste edhe ai mbretërinë e Perëndisë.

Who had not agreed with or assented to the purpose and action of the others; and he was expecting and waiting for the kingdom of God.

52 A i iu paraqit Pilatit dhe kërkoi trupin e Jezusit.

This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

53 D he, pasi e zbriti poshtë nga kryqi, e mbështolli në një çarçaf dhe e vuri në një varr të gërmuar në shkëmb, ku ende nuk ishte varrosur asnjeri.

Then he took it down and rolled it up in a linen cloth for swathing dead bodies and laid Him in a rock-hewn tomb, where no one had ever yet been laid.

54 I shte dita e Përgatitjes dhe e shtuna po fillonte.

It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was dawning (approaching).

55 G ratë që kishin ardhur me Jezusin nga Galilea duke e ndjekur nga afër, e panë varrin dhe mënyrën se si ishte vënë trupi i Jezusit;

The women who had come with from Galilee followed closely and saw the tomb and how His body was laid.

56 p astaj ato u kthyen dhe përgatitën erëra të mira dhe vajra; dhe gjatë së shtunës pushuan, sipas urdhërimit.

Then they went back and made ready spices and ointments (perfumes). On the Sabbath day they rested in accordance with the commandment.
