1 M os u gëzo, o Izrael, për të ngazëlluar si popujt e tjerë, sepse je kurvëruar duke u larguar nga Perëndia yt; ke dashur pagesën e prostitutës në të gjithë lëmenjtë e grurit.

Rejoice not, O Israel, with exultation as do the peoples, for you have played the harlot, forsaking your God. You have loved hire upon every threshing floor.

2 L ëmi dhe trokulli nuk do t’i ushqejnë dhe mushti do t’i lërë të zhgënjyer.

The threshing floor and the winevat shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail them.

3 A ta nuk do të banojnë në vendin e Zotit, por Efraimi do të kthehet në Egjipt dhe në Asiri do të hanë ushqime të papastra.

They shall not remain in the Lord’s land, but Ephraim shall return to Egypt and they shall eat unclean food in Assyria.

4 N uk do t’i bëjnë më libacione vere Zotit dhe flijimet e tyre nuk do të pëlqehen prej tij. Do të jenë për ta si një ushqim zie; kushdo që do ta hajë do të ndotet, sepse buka e tyre do të vlejë për t’i mbajtur në jetë, nuk do të hyjë në shtëpinë e Zotit.

They shall not pour out wine offerings to the Lord, neither shall they be pleasing to Him. Their sacrifices shall be to them as the bread of mourners; all who eat of them shall be defiled, for their bread shall be for their appetite; it shall not come into the house of the Lord.

5 Ç farë do të bëni në ditët solemne dhe në ditët e kremtimit të Zotit?

What will you do on the day of the appointed solemn assembly or festival and on the day of the feast of the Lord ?

6 S epse ja, ndonëse i kanë shpëtuar shkatërrimit, Egjipti do t’i mbledhë bashkë, Mofi do t’i varrosë; gjërat e tyre të çmuara prej argjendi do t’i pushtojnë hithrat, dhe në çadrat e tyre do të rriten ferrat.

For behold, they are gone away from devastation and destruction; Egypt shall gather them in; Memphis shall bury them. Their precious things of silver shall be in the possession of nettles; thorns shall be in their tents.

7 K anë ardhur ditët e ndëshkimit, kanë ardhur ditët e shpagimit; Izraeli do ta mësojë. Profeti është një i pamend, njeriu i frymës flet përçart, për shkak të madhësisë së paudhësisë sate dhe të madhësisë së armiqësisë sate.

The days of visitation and punishment have come; the days of recompense have come; Israel shall know it. The prophet is a crazed fool and the man who is inspired is mad or a fanatic, because of the abundance of your iniquity and because the enmity, hostility, and persecution are great.

8 R oja e Efraimit është me Perëndinë tim, por profeti yt është një lak i gjuetarit të zogjve në të gjitha rrugët e tij; ka armiqësi në shtëpinë e Perëndisë së tij.

Ephraim was a watchman with my God; but he, that prophet, has become a fowler’s snare in all his ways. There is enmity, hostility, and persecution in the house of his God.

9 A ta u korruptuan thellë si në ditët e Gibeahut; por ai do ta mbajë mend paudhësinë e tyre, do të ndëshkojë mëkatet e tyre.

They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah. The Lord will remember their iniquity; He will punish their sins.

10 " Unë gjeta Izraelin si rrushi në shkretëtirë, pashë etërit tuaj si fiqtë e parë mbi një fik të ri. Por, mbasi arritën në Baal-peor, u dhanë pas poshtërsisë dhe u bënë të neveritshëm si ajo që ata donin.

I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the first ripe fruit on the fig tree in its first season, but they went to Baal-peor and consecrated themselves to that shameful thing, and they became detestable and loathsome like that which they loved.

11 L avdia e Efraimit do të fluturojë si zog; nuk do të ketë më lindje, as barrë, as mbarsje.

As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird; there shall be no birth, no being with child, and no becoming pregnant.

12 E dhe sikur të rritin bijtë e tyre, unë do t’i lë pa ata, deri sa të mos mbetet më asnjë njeri; po, mjerë ata kur të largohem prej tyre!

Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them so that not a man shall be left; yes, woe also to them when I look away and depart from them!

13 E fraimi, duke shikuar nga Tiro, është vendosur në një vend të këndshëm; por Efraimi duhet t’ia çojë bijtë e tij atij që do t’i vrasë".

Ephraim, as I have seen with Tyre, is planted in a pleasant place, but Ephraim shall bring out his children to the slayer.

14 J epu atyre, o Zot… Çfarë do t’u japësh atyre? Jepu atyre një bark që dështon dhe gji të shterura.

Give them, O Lord! what will You give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15 G jithë ligësia e tyre është në Gilgal; atje fillova t’i urrej. Për shkak të ligësisë së veprimeve të tyre do t’i dëboj nga shtëpia ime, nuk do t’i dua më; tërë krerët e tyre janë rebelë.

All their wickedness is focused in Gilgal, for there I hated them; for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of My house; I will love them no more; all their princes are rebels.

16 E fraimi është goditur, rrënja e tij është tharë; ata nuk do të japin më fryt. Po, edhe sikur të kenë fëmijë, unë do të bëj që frytet e dashur të vdesin që në bark.

Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit. Yes, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even their beloved children.

17 P erëndia im do t’i hedhë poshtë, sepse nuk e kanë dëgjuar. Dhe ata do të shkojnë duke u endur midis kombeve.

My God will cast them away because they did not listen to and obey Him, and they shall be wanderers and fugitives among the nations.
