1 E very wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish plucketh it down with her own hands.

Toda mulher sábia edifica a sua casa; a insensata, porém, derruba-a com as suas mãos.

2 H e that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

Quem anda na sua retidão teme ao Senhor; mas aquele que é perverso nos seus caminhos despreza-o.

3 I n the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his pride; But the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Na boca do tolo está a vara da soberba, mas os lábios do sábio preservá-lo-ão.

4 W here no oxen are, the crib is clean; But much increase is by the strength of the ox.

Onde não há bois, a manjedoura está vazia; mas pela força do boi há abundância de colheitas.

5 A faithful witness will not lie; But a false witness uttereth lies.

A testemunha verdadeira não mentirá; a testemunha falsa, porém, se desboca em mentiras.

6 A scoffer seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; But knowledge is easy unto him that hath understanding.

O escarnecedor busca sabedoria, e não a encontra; mas para o prudente o conhecimento é fácil.

7 G o into the presence of a foolish man, And thou shalt not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

Vai-te da presença do homem insensato, pois nele não acharás palavras de ciência.

8 T he wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way; But the folly of fools is deceit.

A sabedoria do prudente é entender o seu caminho; porém a estultícia dos tolos é enganar.

9 A trespass-offering mocketh fools; But among the upright there is good will.

A culpa zomba dos insensatos; mas os retos têm o favor de Deus.

10 T he heart knoweth its own bitterness; And a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.

O coração conhece a sua própria amargura; e o estranho não participa da sua alegria.

11 T he house of the wicked shall be overthrown; But the tent of the upright shall flourish.

A casa dos ímpios se desfará; porém a tenda dos retos florescerá.

12 T here is a way which seemeth right unto a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death.

Há um caminho que ao homem parece direito, mas o fim dele conduz ã morte.

13 E ven in laughter the heart is sorrowful; And the end of mirth is heaviness.

Até no riso terá dor o coração; e o fim da alegria é tristeza.

14 T he backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways; And a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

Dos seus próprios caminhos se fartará o infiel de coração, como também o homem bom se contentará dos seus.

15 T he simple believeth every word; But the prudent man looketh well to his going.

O simples dá crédito a tudo; mas o prudente atenta para os seus passos.

16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; But the fool beareth himself insolently, and is confident.

O sábio teme e desvia-se do mal, mas o tolo é arrogante e dá-se por seguro.

17 H e that is soon angry will deal foolishly; And a man of wicked devices is hated.

Quem facilmente se ira fará doidices; mas o homem discreto é paciente;

18 T he simple inherit folly; But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Os simples herdam a estultícia; mas os prudentes se coroam de conhecimento.

19 T he evil bow down before the good; And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous.

Os maus inclinam-se perante os bons; e os ímpios diante das portas dos justos.

20 T he poor is hated even of his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.

O pobre é odiado até pelo seu vizinho; mas os amigos dos ricos são muitos.

21 H e that despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But he that hath pity on the poor, happy is he.

O que despreza ao seu vizinho peca; mas feliz é aquele que se compadece dos pobres.

22 D o they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

Porventura não erram os que maquinam o mal? mas há beneficência e fidelidade para os que planejam o bem.

23 I n all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

Em todo trabalho há proveito; meras palavras, porém, só encaminham para a penúria.

24 T he crown of the wise is their riches; But the folly of fools is only folly.

A coroa dos sábios é a sua riqueza; porém a estultícia dos tolos não passa de estultícia.

25 A true witness delivereth souls; But he that uttereth lies causeth deceit.

A testemunha verdadeira livra as almas; mas o que fala mentiras é traidor.

26 I n the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence; And his children shall have a place of refuge.

No temor do Senhor há firme confiança; e os seus filhos terão um lugar de refúgio.

27 T he fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.

O temor do Senhor é uma fonte de vida, para o homem se desviar dos laços da morte.

28 I n the multitude of people is the king's glory; But in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

Na multidão do povo está a glória do rei; mas na falta de povo está a ruína do príncipe.

29 H e that is slow to anger is of great understanding; But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Quem é tardio em irar-se é grande em entendimento; mas o que é de ânimo precipitado exalta a loucura.

30 A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; But envy is the rottenness of the bones.

O coração tranqüilo é a vida da carne; a inveja, porém, é a podridão dos ossos.

31 H e that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he that hath mercy on the needy honoreth him.

O que oprime ao pobre insulta ao seu Criador; mas honra-o aquele que se compadece do necessitado.

32 T he wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing; But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.

O ímpio é derrubado pela sua malícia; mas o justo até na sua morte acha refúgio.

33 W isdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding; But that which is in the inward part of fools is made known.

No coração do prudente repousa a sabedoria; mas no coração dos tolos não é conhecida.

34 R ighteousness exalteth a nation; But sin is a reproach to any people.

A justiça exalta as nações; mas o pecado é o opróbrio dos povos.

35 T he king's favor is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; But his wrath will be against him that causeth shame.

O favor do rei é concedido ao servo que procede sabiamente; mas sobre o que procede indignamente cairá o seu furor.
