1 J ehovah, remember for David All his affliction;

Lembra-te, Senhor, a bem de Davi, de todas as suas aflições;

2 H ow he sware unto Jehovah, And vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob:

como jurou ao Senhor, e fez voto ao Poderoso de Jacó, dizendo:

3 S urely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, Nor go up into my bed;

Não entrarei na casa em que habito, nem subirei ao leito em que durmo;

4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, Or slumber to mine eyelids;

não darei sono aos meus olhos, nem adormecimento

5 U ntil I find out a place for Jehovah, A tabernacle for the Mighty One of Jacob.

até que eu ache um lugar para o Senhor uma morada para o Poderoso de Jacó.

6 L o, we heard of it in Ephrathah: We found it in the field of the wood.

Eis que ouvimos falar dela em Efrata, e a achamos no campo de Jaar.

7 W e will go into his tabernacles; We will worship at his footstool.

Entremos nos seus tabernáculos; prostremo-nos ante o escabelo de seus pés.

8 A rise, O Jehovah, into thy resting-place; Thou, and the ark of thy strength.

Levanta-te, Senhor, entra no lugar do teu repouso, tu e a arca da tua força.

9 L et thy priest be clothed with righteousness; And let thy saints shout for joy.

Vistam-se os teus sacerdotes de justiça, e exultem de júbilo os teus santos.

10 F or thy servant David's sake Turn not away the face of thine anointed.

Por amor de Davi, teu servo, não rejeites a face do teu ungido.

11 J ehovah hath sworn unto David in truth; He will not turn from it: Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

O Senhor jurou a Davi com verdade, e não se desviará dela: Do fruto das tuas entranhas porei sobre o teu trono.

12 I f thy children will keep my covenant And my testimony that I shall teach them, Their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore.

Se os teus filhos guardarem o meu pacto, e os meus testemunhos, que eu lhes hei de ensinar, também os seus filhos se assentarão perpetuamente no teu trono.

13 F or Jehovah hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for his habitation.

Porque o Senhor escolheu a Sião; desejou-a para sua habitação, dizendo:

14 T his is my resting-place for ever: Here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

Este é o lugar do meu repouso para sempre; aqui habitarei, pois o tenho desejado.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

Abençoarei abundantemente o seu mantimento; fartarei de pão os seus necessitados.

16 H er priests also will I clothe with salvation; And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

Vestirei de salvação os seus sacerdotes; e de júbilo os seus santos exultarão

17 T here will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

Ali farei brotar a força de Davi; preparei uma lâmpada para o meu ungido.

18 H is enemies will I clothe with shame; But upon himself shall his crown flourish.

Vestirei de confusão os seus inimigos; mas sobre ele resplandecerá a sua coroa.
