1 H elp, Jehovah; for the godly man ceaseth; For the faithful fail from among the children of men.

Salva-nos, Senhor, pois não existe mais o piedoso; os fiéis desapareceram dentre os filhos dos homens.

2 T hey speak falsehood every one with his neighbor: With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.

Cada um fala com falsidade ao seu próximo; falam com lábios lisonjeiros e coração dobre.

3 J ehovah will cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaketh great things;

Corte o Senhor todos os lábios lisonjeiros e a língua que fala soberbamente,

4 W ho have said, With our tongue will we prevail; Our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

os que dizem: Com a nossa língua prevaleceremos; os nossos lábios a nós nos pertecem; quem sobre nós é senhor?

5 B ecause of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy, Now will I arise, saith Jehovah; I will set him in the safety he panteth for.

Por causa da opressão dos pobres, e do gemido dos necessitados, levantar-me-ei agora, diz o Senhor; porei em segurança quem por ela suspira.

6 T he words of Jehovah are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, Purified seven times.

As palavras do Senhor são palavras puras, como prata refinada numa fornalha de barro, purificada sete vezes.

7 T hou wilt keep them, O Jehovah, Thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Guarda-nos, ó Senhor; desta geração defende-nos para sempre.

8 T he wicked walk on every side, When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

Os ímpios andam por toda parte, quando a vileza se exalta entre os filhos dos homens.
