1 A nd the whole earth had one language, and the same words.

¶ Era entonces toda la tierra una lengua y unas mismas palabras.

2 A nd it came to pass as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and dwelt there.

Y aconteció que, cuando partieron de oriente, hallaron una vega en la tierra de Sinar, y se asentaron allí.

3 A nd they said one to another, Come on, let us make bricks, and burn thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.

Y dijeron los unos a los otros: Dad acá, hagamos ladrillo y cozámoslo con fuego. Y les fue el ladrillo en lugar de piedra, y el betún en lugar de mezcla.

4 A nd they said, Come on, let us build ourselves a city and a tower, the top of which to the heavens; and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered over the face of the whole earth.

Y dijeron: Dad acá, edifiquémonos ciudad, y torre, que tenga la cabeza en el cielo; y hagámonos nombre, por ventura nos esparciremos sobre la faz de toda la tierra.

5 A nd Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men built.

¶ Y descendió el SEÑOR para ver la ciudad y la torre, que edificaban los hijos del hombre.

6 A nd Jehovah said, Behold, the people is one, and have all one language; and this have they begun to do. And now will they be hindered in nothing that they meditate doing.

Y dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí el pueblo es uno, y todos éstos tienen un lenguaje; y ahora comienzan a hacer, y ahora no dejarán de efectuar todo lo que han pensando hacer.

7 C ome, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

Ahora pues, descendamos, y mezclemos allí sus lenguas, que ninguno entienda la lengua de su compañero.

8 A nd Jehovah scattered them thence over the face of the whole earth. And they left off building the city.

Así los esparció el SEÑOR de allí sobre la faz de toda la tierra, y dejaron de edificar la ciudad.

9 T herefore was its name called Babel; because Jehovah there confounded the language of the whole earth. And Jehovah scattered them thence over the face of the whole earth.

Por esto fue llamado el nombre de ella Babel, porque allí mezcló el SEÑOR el lenguaje de toda la tierra, y de allí los esparció sobre la faz de toda la tierra.

10 T hese are the generations of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old, and begot Arphaxad two years after the flood.

¶ Estas son las generaciones de Sem: Sem, de edad de cien años, engendró a Arfaxad, dos años después del diluvio.

11 A nd Shem lived after he had begotten Arphaxad five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Sem, después que engendró a Arfaxad quinientos años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

12 A nd Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, and begot Shelah.

Y Arfaxad vivió treinta y cinco años, y engendró a Sala.

13 A nd Arphaxad lived after he had begotten Shelah four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Arfaxad, después que engendró a Sala, cuatrocientos tres años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

14 A nd Shelah lived thirty years, and begot Eber.

Y vivió Sala treinta años, y engendró a Heber.

15 A nd Shelah lived after he had begotten Eber four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Sala, después que engendró a Heber, cuatrocientos tres años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

16 A nd Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg.

Y vivió Heber treinta y cuatro años, y engendró a Peleg.

17 A nd Eber lived after he had begotten Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Heber, después que engendró a Peleg, cuatrocientos treinta años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

18 A nd Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu.

Y vivió Peleg, treinta años, y engendró a Reu.

19 A nd Peleg lived after he had begotten Reu two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Peleg, después que engendró a Reu, doscientos nueve años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

20 A nd Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug.

Y Reu vivió treinta y dos años, y engendró a Serug.

21 A nd Reu lived after he had begotten Serug two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Reu, después que engendró a Serug, doscientos siete años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

22 A nd Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor.

Y vivió Serug treinta años, y engendró a Nacor.

23 A nd Serug lived after he had begotten Nahor two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Serug, después que engendró a Nacor, doscientos años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

24 A nd Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah.

Y vivió Nacor veintinueve años, y engendró a Taré.

25 A nd Nahor lived after he had begotten Terah a hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.

Y vivió Nacor, después que engendró a Taré, ciento diecinueve años, y engendró hijos e hijas.

26 A nd Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Y vivió Taré setenta años, y engendró a Abram, y a Nacor, y a Harán.

27 A nd these are the generations of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begot Lot.

¶ Estas son las generaciones de Taré: Taré engendró a Abram, y a Nacor, y a Harán; y Harán engendró a Lot.

28 A nd Haran died before the face of his father Terah in the land of his nativity at Ur of the Chaldeans.

Y murió Harán antes que su padre Taré en la tierra de su naturaleza, en Ur de los caldeos.

29 A nd Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, a daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.

Y tomaron Abram y Nacor para sí mujeres: el nombre de la mujer de Abram fue Sarai, y el nombre de la mujer de Nacor, Milca, hija de Harán, padre de Milca y de Isca.

30 A nd Sarai was barren: she had no child.

Y Sarai era estéril, y no tenía hijo.

31 A nd Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth together out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan, and came as far as Haran, and dwelt there.

Y tomó Taré a Abram su hijo, y a Lot hijo de Harán, hijo de su hijo, y a Sarai su nuera, mujer de Abram su hijo; y salió con ellos de Ur de los caldeos, para ir a la tierra de Canaán; y vinieron hasta Harán, y se asentaron allí.

32 A nd the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

Y fueron los días de Taré doscientos cinco años; y murió Taré en Harán.
