1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer as to my reproof.

Sobre mi guarda estaré, y sobre la fortaleza afirmaré el pie, y atalayaré para ver qué hablará en mí, y qué he de responder a mi pregunta.

2 A nd Jehovah answered me and said, Write the vision, and engrave it upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it.

Y el SEÑOR me respondió, y dijo: Escribe la visión, y declárala en tablas, para que corra el que leyere en ella.

3 F or the vision is yet for an appointed time, but it hasteth to the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; for it will surely come, it will not delay.

Aunque la visión es aún para un tiempo señalado, mas al fin hablará, y no mentirá; aunque se tardare, espéralo, que sin duda vendrá; espéralo.

4 B ehold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright within him: but the just shall live by his faith.

He aquí, se enorgullece aquel cuya alma no es derecha en él; mas el justo en su fe vivirá.

5 A nd moreover, the wine is treacherous: he is a proud man, and keepeth not at rest, he enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is like death and cannot be satisfied; and he assembleth unto him all nations, and gathereth unto him all peoples.

Cuanto más que el dado al vino, transpasador, hombre soberbio no permanecerá. Que ensanchó como el Seol su alma, y es como la muerte, que no se llenará; antes reunió a sí todos los gentiles, y amontonó a sí todos los pueblos.

6 S hall not all these take up a proverb about him, and a taunting riddle against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long?—and to him that loadeth himself with pledges!

¿No han de levantar todos éstos sobre él enigma, y sarcasmos contra él? Y dirán: ¡Ay del que multiplicó lo que no era suyo! ¿Y hasta cuándo había de amontonar sobre sí espeso lodo?

7 S hall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and they awake up that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them?

¿No se levantarán de repente los que te han de morder, y se despertarán los que te han de quitar de tu lugar, y serás a ellos por rapiña?

8 B ecause thou hast plundered many nations, all the rest of the peoples shall plunder thee; because of men's blood, and for the violence to the land, to the city, and all that dwell therein.

Porque tú has despojado a muchas naciones, todos los otros pueblos te despojarán; a causa de la sangre humana, y robos de la tierra, de las ciudades y de todos los que moraban en ellas.

9 W oe to him that getteth iniquitous gain to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the grasp of evil!

¡Ay del que codicia ganancia mal habida por violencia para su casa, por poner en alto su nido, por escaparse del poder del mal!

10 T hou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and hast sinned against thine own soul.

Tomaste consejo vergonzoso para tu casa, asolaste muchos pueblos, y has pecado contra tu vida.

11 F or the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

Porque la piedra clamará desde el muro, y la tabla del enmaderado le responderá.

12 W oe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and establisheth a city by unrighteousness!

¡Ay del que edifica la ciudad con sangre, y del que funda la villa con iniquidad!

13 B ehold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labour for the fire, and the nations weary themselves in vain?

¿No es esto del SEÑOR de los ejércitos? Los pueblos, pues, trabajarán para el fuego, y los gentiles se fatigarán en vano.

14 F or the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea.

Porque la tierra será llena del conocimiento de la gloria del SEÑOR, como las aguas cubren el mar.

15 W oe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink,—that pourest out thy flask, and makest drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

¡Ay del que da de beber a sus compañeros, que les acercas tu odre y les embriagas, para mirar después sus desnudeces!

16 T hou art filled with shame instead of glory; drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of Jehovah's right hand shall be turned unto thee, and a shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.

Te has llenado de deshonra en vez de honra; bebe tú también, y tu prepucio será descubierto; el cáliz de la mano derecha del SEÑOR volverá sobre ti, y vómito de afrenta caerá sobre tu gloria.

17 F or the violence to Lebanon shall cover thee, and the destruction of beasts which made them afraid; because of men's blood, and for the violence to the land, to the city, and all that dwell therein.

Porque la rapiña del Líbano caerá sobre ti, y la destrucción de las fieras lo quebrantará; a causa de la sangre humana, y del robo de la tierra, de las ciudades, y de todos los que en ellas moraban.

18 W hat profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it? the molten image, and the teacher of falsehood, that the maker of his work dependeth thereon, to make dumb idols?

¿De qué sirve la escultura que esculpió el que la hizo? ¿La estatua de fundición, que enseña mentira, para que haciendo imágenes mudas confíe el hacedor en su obra?

19 W oe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake! to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall it teach? Behold it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

¡Ay del que dice al palo: Despiértate; y a la piedra muda: Levántate! ¿Podrá él enseñar? He aquí él está cubierto de oro y plata, y no hay dentro de él aliento.

20 B ut Jehovah is in his holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before him!

Mas el SEÑOR está en su santo Templo: calle delante de él toda la tierra.
