1 A nd it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

Y aconteció en el cuarto año de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que vino esta palabra a Jeremías, del SEÑOR, diciendo:

2 T ake thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

Tómate un rollo de libro, y escribe en él todas las palabras que te he hablado contra Israel y contra Judá, y contra todos los gentiles, desde el día que comencé a hablarte, desde los días de Josías hasta hoy.

3 I t may be the house of Judah will hear all the evil that I purpose to do unto them, that they may return every man from his evil way, and that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

Si por ventura oyere la Casa de Judá todo el mal que yo pienso hacerles, para que se torne cada uno de su mal camino, y yo perdonaré su iniquidad y su pecado.

4 A nd Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Nerijah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.

Y llamó Jeremías a Baruc hijo de Nerías, y escribió Baruc de boca de Jeremías, en un rollo de libro, todas las palabras que el SEÑOR le había hablado.

5 A nd Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up, I cannot go into the house of Jehovah; but go thou in,

Y mandó Jeremías a Baruc, diciendo: Yo estoy preso, no puedo entrar en la Casa del SEÑOR.

6 a nd read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah in the ears of the people in the house of Jehovah upon the fast day; and thou shalt also read them in the ears of all Judah that come from their cities.

Entra tú, pues, y lee de este rollo que escribiste de mi boca, las palabras del SEÑOR a oídos del pueblo, en la Casa del SEÑOR, el día del ayuno; y también a oídos de todo Judá que vienen de sus ciudades. Las leerás

7 I t may be they will present their supplication before Jehovah, and that they will return every one from his evil way; for great is the anger and the fury that Jehovah hath pronounced against this people.

si por ventura caerá oración de ellos en la presencia del SEÑOR, y se tornarán cada uno de su mal camino; porque grande es el furor y la ira que ha hablado el SEÑOR contra este pueblo.

8 A nd Baruch the son of Nerijah did according to all that the prophet Jeremiah commanded him, reading in the book the words of Jehovah in Jehovah's house.

Y Baruc hijo de Nerías hizo conforme a todas las cosas que le mandó Jeremías profeta, leyendo en el libro las palabras del SEÑOR en la Casa del SEÑOR.

9 A nd it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, in the ninth month, they proclaimed a fast before Jehovah, for all the people in Jerusalem, and for all the people that came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.

Y aconteció en el año quinto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, en el mes noveno, que promulgaron ayuno en la presencia del SEÑOR, a todo el pueblo de Jerusalén, y a todo el pueblo que venía de las ciudades de Judá a Jerusalén.

10 A nd Baruch read in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of the house of Jehovah, in the ears of all the people.

Y Baruc leyó en el libro las palabras de Jeremías en la Casa del SEÑOR, en la cámara de Gemarías hijo de Safán escriba, en el atrio de arriba, a la entrada de la puerta nueva de la Casa del SEÑOR, en oídos de todo el pueblo.

11 A nd Micah the son of Gemariah the son of Shaphan heard out of the book all the words of Jehovah;

Y oyendo Micaías hijo de Gemarías, hijo de Safán, todas las palabras del SEÑOR del libro,

12 a nd he went down to the king's house, into the scribe's chamber, and behold, all the princes were sitting there: Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

descendió a la casa del rey, a la cámara del escriba, y he aquí que todos los príncipes estaban allí sentados: Elisama escriba, Delaía hijo de Semaías, Elnatán hijo de Acbor, Gemarías hijo de Safán, Sedequías hijo de Ananías, y todos los príncipes.

13 A nd Micah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read in the book in the ears of the people.

Y les contó Micaías todas las palabras que había oído leyendo Baruc en el libro a oídos del pueblo.

14 A nd all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thy hand the roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. And Baruch the son of Nerijah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.

Entonces enviaron todos los príncipes a Jehudí hijo de Netanías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Cusi, para que dijera a Baruc: Toma el rollo en que leíste a oídos del pueblo, y ven. Y Baruc, hijo de Nerías, tomó el rollo en su mano, y vino a ellos.

15 A nd they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. And Baruch read in their ears.

Y le dijeron: Siéntate ahora, y léelo en nuestros oídos. Y leyó Baruc a sus oídos.

16 A nd it came to pass, when they heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said unto Baruch, We will certainly report to the king all these words.

Y fue que, cuando oyeron todas aquellas palabras, cada uno se volvió espantado a su compañero, y dijeron a Baruc: Sin duda contaremos al rey todas estas palabras.

17 A nd they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words from his mouth?

Preguntaron luego a Baruc, diciendo: Cuéntanos ahora cómo escribiste de boca de Jeremías todas estas palabras.

18 A nd Baruch said unto them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote with ink in the book.

Y Baruc les dijo: El me dictaba de su boca todas estas palabras, y yo escribía con tinta en el libro.

19 A nd the princes said unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; that none may know where ye are.

Entonces dijeron los príncipes a Baruc: Ve, y escóndete, tú y Jeremías, y nadie sepa dónde estáis.

20 A nd they went in unto the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king.

Y entraron al rey al atrio, habiendo depositado el rollo en la cámara de Elisama escriba; y contaron a los oídos del rey todas estas palabras.

21 A nd the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll, and he fetched it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes that stood beside the king.

Y envió el rey a Jehudí a que tomara el rollo, el cual lo tomó de la cámara de Elisama escriba, y leyó en él Jehudí a oídos del rey, y a oídos de todos los príncipes que junto al rey estaban.

22 N ow the king was sitting in the winter-house in the ninth month, and with the fire-pan burning before him.

Y el rey estaba en la casa de invierno en el mes noveno, y había un brasero ardiendo delante de él;

23 A nd it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four columns, he cut it with the scribe's knife, and cast it into the fire that was in the pan until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was in the pan.

y fue que, cuando Jehudí hubo leído tres o cuatro planas, lo rasgó con un cuchillo de escribanía, y lo echó en el fuego que había en el brasero, hasta que todo el rollo se consumió sobre el fuego que en el brasero había.

24 A nd they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, the king nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

Y no tuvieron temor, ni rasgaron sus vestidos, el rey y todos sus siervos que oyeron todas estas palabras.

25 M oreover, Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll; but he would not hear them.

Y aunque Elnatán, Delaía y Gemarías rogaron al rey que no quemara aquel rollo, no los quiso oír;

26 A nd the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but Jehovah hid them.

antes mandó el rey a Jerameel hijo de Hamelec, a Seraías hijo de Azriel, y a Selemías hijo de Abdeel, tomar a Baruc el escribano y a Jeremías profeta; mas el SEÑOR los escondió.

27 A nd after that the king had burned the roll, and the words that Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah, saying,

Y vino palabra del SEÑOR a Jeremías, después que el rey quemó el rollo, las palabras que Baruc había escrito de boca de Jeremías, diciendo:

28 T ake thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

Vuelve a tomar otro rollo, y escribe en él todas las palabras primeras, que estaban en el primer rollo que quemó Joacim, el rey de Judá.

29 A nd thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith Jehovah: Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from it man and beast?

Y dirás a Joacim rey de Judá: Así dijo el SEÑOR: Tú quemaste este rollo, diciendo: ¿Por qué escribiste en él, diciendo: De cierto, vendrá el rey de Babilonia, y destruirá esta tierra, y hará que no queden en ella hombres ni animales?

30 T herefore thus saith Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

Por tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR a Joacim rey de Judá: No tendrá quien se siente sobre el trono de David; y su cuerpo será echado al calor del día y al hielo de la noche.

31 A nd I will visit their iniquity upon him, and upon his seed, and upon his servants; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; and they have not hearkened.

Y visitaré sobre él, y sobre su simiente, y sobre sus siervos, su iniquidad; y traeré sobre ellos, y sobre los moradores de Jerusalén, y sobre los varones de Judá, todo el mal que les he dicho y no oyeron.

32 A nd Jeremiah took another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Nerijah; and he wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah, all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides unto them many like words.

Y tomó Jeremías otro rollo, y lo dio a Baruc hijo de Nerías escriba; y escribió en él de boca de Jeremías todas las palabras del libro que quemó en el fuego Joacim rey de Judá; y aun fueron añadidas sobre ellas muchas otras palabras semejantes.
