3 A nd I said to them that the gates of Jerusalem should not be opened until the sun was hot, and that they should shut the doors and bar them while they stood by; and that there should be appointed watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one over against his house.

y les dije: No se abran las puertas de Jerusalén hasta que caliente el sol; y aun con los guardas presentes, cierren las puertas, y atrancad. Y señalé guardas de los moradores de Jerusalén, cada cual en su guardia, y cada uno delante de su casa.

4 N ow the city was large and great; but the people in it were few, and no houses were built.

¶ Y la ciudad era espaciosa y grande, pero poco pueblo dentro de ella, y no había casas reedificadas.

5 A nd my God put into my heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, for registration by genealogy. And I found a genealogical register of those that had come up at the first, and I found written in it:

Y puso Dios en mi corazón que juntara los principales, los magistrados, y el pueblo, para que fueran empadronados por el orden de sus linajes; y hallé el libro de la genealogía de los que habían subido antes, y encontré en él escrito:

6 T hese are the children of the province that went up out of the captivity of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and who came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one to his city;

Estos son los hijos de la provincia que subieron de la cautividad, de la transmigración que hizo pasar Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y que volvieron a Jerusalén y a Judá cada uno a su ciudad;

65 A nd the Tirshatha said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up the priest with Urim and Thummim.

66 T he whole congregation together was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,

70 A nd some of the chief fathers gave to the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand darics of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' coats.

Y algunos de los príncipes de las familias dieron para la obra. El Tirsata dio para el tesoro mil dracmas de oro, cincuenta tazones, y quinientas treinta vestiduras sacerdotales.

71 A nd of the chief fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver.

Y de los príncipes de las familias dieron para el tesoro de la obra, veinte mil dracmas de oro, y dos mil doscientas libras de plata.

72 A nd that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests' coats.

Y lo que dio el resto del pueblo fue veinte mil dracmas de oro, y dos mil libras de plata, y sesenta y siete vestiduras sacerdotales.

73 A nd the priests, and the Levites, and the doorkeepers, and the singers, and of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities. And when the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in their cities,

Y habitaron los sacerdotes, los levitas, los porteros, los cantores, los del pueblo, los netineos, y todo Israel, en sus ciudades. Y venido el mes séptimo, los hijos de Israel estaban en sus ciudades.
