1 A nd Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

Y reinó en su lugar Josafat su hijo, el cual prevaleció contra Israel.

2 A nd he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had taken.

Y puso ejército en todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, y colocó gente de guarnición, en tierra de Judá, y asimismo en las ciudades de Efraín que su padre Asa había tomado.

3 A nd Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto the Baals;

Y estuvo el SEÑOR con Josafat, porque anduvo en los primeros caminos de David su padre, y no buscó a los Baales;

4 b ut he sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

sino que buscó al Dios de su padre, y anduvo en sus mandamientos, y no según las obras de Israel.

5 A nd Jehovah established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave gifts to Jehoshaphat; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

El SEÑOR, por tanto, confirmó el reino en su mano, y todo Judá dio a Josafat presentes; y tuvo riquezas y gloria en abundancia.

6 A nd he took courage in the ways of Jehovah; moreover, he removed the high places and Asherahs out of Judah.

Y se animó su corazón en los caminos del SEÑOR, y quitó los lugares altos y los bosques de Judá.

7 A nd in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, Ben-hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethaneel, and Micah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

Al tercer año de su reinado envió sus príncipes Ben-hail, Abdías, Zacarías, Natanael y Micaías, para que enseñaran en las ciudades de Judá;

8 a nd with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-Adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

y con ellos a los levitas, Semeías, Netanías, Zebadías, Asael, Semiramot, Jonatán, Adonías, Tobías, y Tobadonías, levitas; y con ellos a Elisama y a Joram, sacerdotes.

9 A nd they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of Jehovah with them; and they went about through all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.

Y enseñaron en Judá, teniendo consigo el libro de la ley del SEÑOR, y recorrieron por todas las ciudades de Judá enseñando al pueblo.

10 A nd the terror of Jehovah was upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

Y cayó el pavor del SEÑOR sobre todos los reinos de las tierras que estaban alrededor de Judá; de manera que no osaron hacer guerra contra Josafat.

11 A nd some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and tribute-silver. The Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.

Y traían de los filisteos presentes a Josafat, y tributos de plata. Los árabes también le trajeron rebaños, siete mil setecientos carneros y siete mil setecientos machos cabríos.

12 A nd Jehoshaphat waxed exceeding great; and he built in Judah castles and store-cities.

Iba, pues, Josafat creciendo altamente; y edificó en Judá castillos y ciudades de depósitos.

13 A nd he had much business in the cities of Judah; and men of war, strong and valiant, in Jerusalem.

Y tuvo muchas obras en las ciudades de Judá, y hombres de guerra muy valientes en Jerusalén.

14 A nd these are the numbers of them according to their fathers' houses. Of Judah the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valour;

Y éste es el número de ellos según las casas de sus padres: En Judá, príncipes de los millares; el príncipe Adna, y con él trescientos mil hombres valientes de valor;

15 a nd next to him was Johanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;

después de él, el príncipe Johanán, y con él doscientos ochenta mil;

16 a nd next to him, Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Jehovah; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.

tras éste, Amasías hijo de Zicri, el cual se había ofrecido voluntariamente al SEÑOR, y con él doscientos mil hombres valientes;

17 A nd of Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valour, and with him two hundred thousand, armed with bow and shield;

de Benjamín, Eliada, hombre muy poderoso, y con él doscientos mil hombres armados de arco y escudo;

18 a nd next to him was Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready prepared for war.

tras éste, Jozabad, y con él ciento ochenta mil apercibidos para la guerra.

19 T hese were they that waited on the king, besides those that the king had put in the fortified cities throughout Judah.

Estos eran siervos del rey, sin los que el rey había puesto en las ciudades de guarnición por toda Judea.
