1 A nd it came to pass in those days that the Philistines gathered together their armies for warfare to fight against Israel. And Achish said to David, Know thou assuredly that thou shalt go out with me to the camp, thou and thy men.

¶ Y aconteció que en aquellos días los filisteos juntaron sus campos para pelear contra Israel. Y dijo Aquis a David: Sabe de cierto que has de salir conmigo a campaña, tú y los tuyos.

2 A nd David said to Achish, Thereby thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of my person for ever.

Y David respondió a Aquis: Sabrás pues lo que hará tu siervo. Y Aquis dijo a David: Por tanto, te haré guarda de mi cabeza todos los días.

3 ( Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and they had buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away the necromancers and the soothsayers out of the land.)

Ya Samuel había muerto, y todo Israel lo había lamentado, y le habían sepultado en Ramá, en su ciudad. Y Saúl había echado de la tierra los espiritistas y adivinos.

4 A nd the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem; and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa.

Pues cuando los filisteos se juntaron, vinieron y asentaron campamento en Sunem; y Saúl juntó a todo Israel, y asentaron campamento en Gilboa.

5 A nd when Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.

Y cuando vio Saúl el campamento de los filisteos, temió, y se turbó su corazón en gran manera.

6 A nd Saul inquired of Jehovah; but Jehovah did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets.

Y consultó Saúl al SEÑOR; pero el SEÑOR no le respondió, ni por sueños, ni por Urim, ni por profetas.

7 T hen said Saul to his servants, Seek me a woman that has a spirit of Python, that I may go to her and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman who has a spirit of Python at En-dor.

¶ Entonces Saúl dijo a sus criados: Buscadme alguna mujer espiritista, para que yo vaya a ella, y por medio de ella pregunte. Y sus criados le respondieron: He aquí hay una mujer en Endor que es espiritista.

8 A nd Saul disguised himself, and put on other garments, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night; and he said, I pray thee, divine to me by the spirit of Python, and bring me up whom I shall name to thee.

Y se disfrazó Saúl, y se puso otros vestidos, y se fue con dos hombres, y vinieron a aquella mujer de noche; y él dijo: Yo te ruego que me adivines por espiritismo, y me hagas subir a quien yo te dijere.

9 A nd the woman said to him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul has done, how he has cut off the necromancers and the soothsayers out of the land; and why layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

Y la mujer le dijo: He aquí tú sabes lo que Saúl ha hecho, cómo ha talado de la tierra las espiritistas y los adivinos; ¿por qué pues pones tropiezo a mi vida, para hacerme matar?

10 A nd Saul swore unto her by Jehovah, saying, Jehovah liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

Entonces Saúl le juró por el SEÑOR, diciendo: Vive el SEÑOR, que ninguna iniquidad te vendrá por esto.

11 T hen said the woman, Whom shall I bring up to thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

La mujer entonces dijo: ¿A quién te haré venir? Y él respondió: Hazme venir a Samuel.

12 A nd when the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? Even thou art Saul.

Y viendo la mujer a Samuel, clamó en alta voz, y habló aquella mujer a Saúl, diciendo:

13 A nd the king said to her, Be not afraid; but what didst thou see? And the woman said to Saul, I saw a god ascending out of the earth.

¿Por qué me has engañado? que tú eres Saúl. Y el rey le dijo: No temas: ¿Qué has visto? Y la mujer respondió a Saúl: He visto dioses que suben de la tierra.

14 A nd he said to her, What is his form? And she said, An old man comes up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

Y él le dijo: ¿Cuál es su forma? Y ella respondió: Un hombre anciano viene, cubierto de un manto. Saúl entonces entendió que era Samuel, y humillando el rostro a tierra, adoró.

15 A nd Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul said, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answers me no more, neither by prophets nor by dreams; therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known to me what I shall do.

¶ Y Samuel dijo a Saúl: ¿Por qué me has inquietado haciéndome venir? Y Saúl respondió: Estoy muy acongojado; pues los filisteos pelean contra mí, y Dios se ha apartado de mí, y no me responde más, ni por mano de profetas, ni por sueños; por esto te he llamado, para que me declares qué debo hacer.

16 A nd Samuel said, Why then dost thou inquire of me, seeing Jehovah is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

Entonces Samuel dijo: ¿Y para qué me preguntas a mí, habiéndose apartado de ti el SEÑOR, y es tu enemigo?

17 A nd Jehovah has done for himself as he spoke by me; and Jehovah has rent the kingdom out of thy hand, and given it to thy neighbour, to David.

El SEÑOR, pues, ¡ha hecho como habló por mi mano! Pues ha cortado el SEÑOR el reino de tu mano, y lo ha dado a tu compañero David.

18 B ecause thou didst not hearken to the voice of Jehovah, and didst not execute his fierce anger upon Amalek, therefore has Jehovah done this thing to thee this day.

Como tú no escuchaste la voz del SEÑOR, ni cumpliste el furor de su ira sobre Amalec, por eso el SEÑOR te ha hecho esto hoy.

19 A nd Jehovah will also give Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines; and to-morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me; the army of Israel also will Jehovah give into the hand of the Philistines.

Y el SEÑOR entregará a Israel también contigo en manos de los filisteos; y mañana estaréis conmigo, tú y tus hijos; y aun el campamento de Israel entregará el SEÑOR en manos de los filisteos.

20 A nd Saul fell straightway his full length on the earth, and was sore afraid because of the words of Samuel; and there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no bread all the day nor all the night.

¶ En aquel punto cayó Saúl en tierra cuan grande era, y tuvo gran temor por las palabras de Samuel; que no quedó en él esfuerzo ninguno, porque en todo aquel día y aquella noche no había comido pan.

21 A nd the woman came to Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said to him, Behold, thy bondmaid has hearkened to thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened to thy words which thou spokest to me.

Entonces la mujer vino a Saúl, y viéndole en gran manera turbado, le dijo: He aquí que tu criada ha escuchado tu voz, y he puesto mi alma en mi mano, y he oído las palabras que tú me has dicho.

22 A nd now, I pray thee, hearken thou also to the voice of thy bondmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength when thou goest on thy way.

Te ruego, pues, que tú también oigas la voz de tu sierva; pondré yo delante de ti un bocado de pan que comas, para que te esfuerces, y sigas tu camino.

23 B ut he refused and said, I will not eat. Then his servants, and the woman also, compelled him, and he hearkened to their voice; and he arose from the earth and sat on the bed.

Y él rehusó, diciendo: No comeré. Mas sus criados juntamente con la mujer le constriñeron, y él les escuchó. Se levantó, pues, del suelo, y se sentó sobre una cama.

24 A nd the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread thereof;

Y aquella mujer tenía en su casa un ternero grueso, el cual mató luego; y tomó harina y la amasó, y coció de ella panes sin levadura.

25 a nd she brought it near before Saul, and before his servants, and they ate. And they rose up and went away that night.

Y lo trajo delante de Saúl y de sus criados; y luego que comieron, se levantaron, y partieron aquella noche.
