1 A nd he came to Derbe and Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, by name Timotheus, son of a Jewish believing woman, but father a Greek,

¶ Después llegó a Derbe, y a Listra; y he aquí, estaba allí un discípulo llamado Timoteo, hijo de una mujer judía fiel, mas de padre gentil.

2 w ho had a testimony of the brethren in Lystra and Iconium.

De éste daban buen testimonio los hermanos que estaban en Listra y en Iconio.

3 H im would Paul have go forth with him, and took circumcised him on account of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew his father that he was a Greek.

Pablo quiso que éste fuera con él; y tomándole, le circuncidó por causa de los judíos que estaban en aquellos lugares; porque todos sabían que su padre era griego.

4 A nd as they passed through the cities they instructed them to observe the decrees determined on by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem.

Y cuando pasaban por las ciudades, les daban que guardaran los decretos que habían sido determinados por los apóstoles y los ancianos que estaban en Jerusalén.

5 T he assemblies therefore were confirmed in the faith, and increased in number every day.

Así que, las Iglesias eran confirmadas en la fe, y eran aumentadas en número cada día.

6 A nd having passed through Phrygia and the Galatian country, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia,

¶ Y pasando a Frigia y la provincia de Galacia, les fue prohibido por el Espíritu Santo hablar la Palabra en Asia.

7 h aving come down to Mysia, they attempted to go to Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them;

Cuando llegaron a Misia, intentaron de ir a Bitinia; mas el Espíritu no les dejó.

8 a nd having passed by Mysia they descended to Troas.

Y pasando a Misia, descendieron a Troas.

9 A nd a vision appeared to Paul in the night: There was a certain Macedonian man, standing and beseeching him, and saying, Pass over into Macedonia and help us.

Y fue mostrada a Pablo de noche una visión: Un varón Macedonio se puso delante, rogándole, y diciendo: Pasa a Macedonia, y ayúdanos.

10 A nd when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go forth to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to announce to them the glad tidings.

Y como vio la visión, luego procuramos partir a Macedonia, dando por cierto que Dios nos llamaba para que les anunciáramos el Evangelio.

11 H aving sailed therefore away from Troas, we went in a straight course to Samothracia, and on the morrow to Neapolis,

Partidos pues de Troas, vinimos camino derecho a Samotracia, y el día siguiente a Neápolis;

12 a nd thence to Philippi, which is first city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city certain days.

y de allí a Filipos, que es la primera ciudad de la parte de Macedonia, y una colonia; y estuvimos en aquella ciudad algunos días.

13 A nd on the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where it was the custom for prayer to be, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had assembled.

Y un día de los sábados salimos de la puerta junto al río, donde solía ser la oración; y sentándonos, hablamos a las mujeres que se habían juntado.

14 A nd a certain woman, by name Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard; whose heart the Lord opened to attend to the things spoken by Paul.

Entonces una mujer llamada Lidia, que vendía púrpura en la ciudad de Tiatira, temerosa de Dios, estaba oyendo; el corazón de la cual abrió el Señor para que estuviera atenta a lo que Pablo decía.

15 A nd when she had been baptised and her house, she besought, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and abide. And she constrained us.

Y cuando fue bautizada, con su casa, nos rogó, diciendo: Si habéis juzgado que yo sea fiel al Señor, entrad en mi casa, y posad; y nos constriñó.

16 A nd it came to pass as we were going to prayer that a certain female slave, having a spirit of Python, met us, who brought much profit to her masters by prophesying.

¶ Y aconteció, que yendo nosotros a la oración, una muchacha que tenía espíritu pitónico, nos salió al encuentro, la cual daba grande ganancia a sus amos adivinando.

17 S he, having followed Paul and us, cried saying, These men are bondmen of the Most High God, who announce to you way of salvation.

Esta, siguiendo a Pablo y a nosotros, daba voces, diciendo: Estos hombres son siervos del Dios Alto, los cuales os anuncian el camino de salud.

18 A nd this she did many days. And Paul, being distressed, turned, and said to the spirit, I enjoin thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out the same hour.

Y esto hacía por muchos días; mas desagradando esto a Pablo, se volvió y dijo al espíritu: Te mando en el Nombre de Jesús, el Cristo, que salgas de ella. Y salió en la misma hora.

19 A nd her masters, seeing that the hope of their gains was gone, having seized Paul and Silas, dragged into the market before the magistrates;

Y viendo sus amos que había salido la esperanza de su ganancia, prendieron a Pablo y a Silas, y los trajeron al foro, ante el magistrado;

20 a nd having brought them up to the praetors, said, These men utterly trouble our city, being Jews,

y presentándolos a los magistrados, dijeron: Estos hombres, siendo judíos, alborotan nuestra ciudad,

21 a nd announce customs which it is not lawful for us to receive nor practise, being Romans.

y predican ritos, los cuales no nos es lícito recibir ni hacer, pues somos romanos.

22 A nd the crowd rose up too against them; and the praetors, having torn off their clothes, commanded to scourge.

Y se agolpó el pueblo contra ellos; y los magistrados rompiéndoles sus ropas, les mandaron azotar con varas.

23 A nd having laid many stripes upon them they cast into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely;

Y después que los hirieron de muchos azotes, los echaron en la cárcel, mandando al carcelero que los guardara con diligencia;

24 w ho, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and secured their feet to the stocks.

el cual, recibido este mandamiento, los metió en la cárcel de más adentro; y les apretó los pies en el cepo.

25 A nd at midnight Paul and Silas, in praying, were praising God with singing, and the prisoners listened to them.

¶ Mas a medianoche, orando Pablo y Silas, cantaban himnos a Dios; y los que estaban presos los oían.

26 A nd suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison shook, and all the doors were immediately opened, and the bonds of all loosed.

Entonces fue hecho de repente un gran terremoto, de tal manera que los cimientos de la cárcel se movían; y luego todas las puertas se abrieron, y las prisiones de todos soltaron.

27 A nd the jailor being awakened out of his sleep, and seeing the doors of the prison opened, having drawn a sword was going to kill himself, thinking the prisoners had fled.

Y despertado el carcelero, como vio abiertas las puertas de la cárcel, sacando la espada se quería matar, pensando que los presos habían huido.

28 B ut Paul called out with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm, for we are all here.

Entonces Pablo clamó a gran voz, diciendo: No te hagas ningún mal; que todos estamos aquí.

29 A nd having asked for lights, he rushed in, and, trembling, fell down before Paul and Silas.

El entonces pidiendo luz, entró dentro, y temblando, se derribó a los pies de Pablo y de Silas;

30 A nd leading them out said, Sirs, what must I do that I may be saved?

y sacándolos fuera, les dice: Señores, ¿qué es necesario que yo haga para ser salvo?

31 A nd they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.

Y ellos dijeron: Cree en el Señor Jesús, el Cristo, y serás salvo tú, y tu casa.

32 A nd they spoke to him the word of the Lord, with all that were in his house.

Y le hablaron la Palabra del Señor, y a todos los que estaban en su casa.

33 A nd he took them the same hour of the night and washed from their stripes; and was baptised, he and all his straightway.

Y tomándolos él en aquella misma hora de la noche, les lavó las heridas; y se bautizó luego él, y todos los suyos.

34 A nd having brought them into his house he laid the table, and rejoiced with all his house, having believed in God.

Y llevándolos a su casa, les puso la mesa; y se gozó de que con toda su casa había creído a Dios.

35 A nd when it was day, the praetors sent the lictors, saying, Let those men go.

¶ Cuando fue de día, los magistrados enviaron los alguaciles, diciendo: Deja ir a aquellos hombres.

36 A nd the jailor reported these words to Paul: The praetors have sent that ye may be let go. Now therefore go out and depart in peace.

Y el carcelero hizo saber estas palabras a Pablo: Los magistrados han enviado a decir que seas suelto; así que ahora salid, e id en paz.

37 B ut Paul said to them, Having beaten us publicly uncondemned, us who are Romans, they have cast us into prison, and now they thrust us out secretly? no, indeed, but let them come themselves and bring us out.

Entonces Pablo les dijo: Azotados públicamente sin ser condenados, siendo hombres romanos, nos echaron en la cárcel; y ¿ahora nos echan encubiertamente? No, de cierto, sino vengan ellos y sáquennos.

38 A nd the lictors reported these words to the praetors. And they were afraid when they heard they were Romans.

Y los alguaciles volvieron a decir a los magistrados estas palabras; y tuvieron miedo, oído que eran romanos.

39 A nd they came and besought them, and having brought them out, asked them to go out of the city.

Y viniendo, les rogaron; y sacándolos, les pidieron que se salieran de la ciudad.

40 A nd having gone out of the prison, they came to Lydia; and having seen the brethren, they exhorted them and went away.

Entonces salidos de la cárcel, entraron en casa de Lidia; y habiendo visto a los hermanos, los consolaron, y se salieron.
