1 T hen said Solomon: Jehovah said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

Entonces dijo Salomón: El SEÑOR ha dicho que él habitaría en la oscuridad.

2 B ut I have built a house of habitation for thee, even a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.

Yo, pues, he edificado una Casa de morada para ti, y una habitación en que mores para siempre.

3 A nd the king turned his face and blessed the whole congregation of Israel; and the whole congregation of Israel stood.

Y volviendo el rey su rostro, bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel; y toda la congregación de Israel estaba en pie.

4 A nd he said: Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hands fulfilled it, saying,

Y él dijo: Bendito sea el SEÑOR Dios de Israel, el cual con su mano ha cumplido lo que habló por su boca a David mi padre, diciendo:

5 S ince the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel:

Desde el día que saqué mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, ninguna ciudad he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel para edificar casa donde estuviera mi Nombre, ni he escogido varón que fuera príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel.

6 b ut I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

Mas a Jerusalén he elegido para que en ella esté mi nombre, y a David he elegido para que fuera sobre mi pueblo Israel.

7 A nd it was in the heart of David my father to build a house unto the name of Jehovah the God of Israel.

Y David mi padre tuvo en el corazón edificar Casa al Nombre del SEÑOR Dios de Israel.

8 B ut Jehovah said to David my father, Whereas it was in thy heart to build a house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thy heart;

Mas el SEÑOR dijo a David mi padre: Respecto a haber tenido en tu corazón edificar Casa a mi nombre, bien has hecho en haber tenido esto en tu corazón;

9 n evertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.

pero tú no edificarás la Casa, sino tu hijo que saldrá de tus lomos, él edificará Casa a mi nombre.

10 A nd Jehovah has performed his word which he spoke; and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah promised, and I have built the house unto the name of Jehovah the God of Israel.

Y el SEÑOR ha cumplido su palabra que dijo, y me levanté yo por David mi padre, y me senté en el trono de Israel, como el SEÑOR había dicho, y he edificado Casa al nombre del SEÑOR Dios de Israel.

11 A nd in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of Jehovah, which he made with the children of Israel.

Y en ella he puesto el arca, en la cual está el pacto del SEÑOR que concertó con los hijos de Israel.

12 A nd he stood before the altar of Jehovah in the presence of the whole congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands.

Se puso luego Salomón delante del altar del SEÑOR, delante de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendió sus manos.

13 F or Solomon had made a platform of bronze, five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and upon it he stood, and he kneeled down on his knees before the whole congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward the heavens,

Porque Salomón había hecho una plataforma de bronce; cinco codos de largo, cinco codos de ancho, y de tres codos de altura, y lo había puesto en medio del atrio; y se puso sobre él, y se arrodilló delante de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendiendo sus manos al cielo, dijo:

14 a nd said, Jehovah, God of Israel! there is no God like thee, in the heavens or on the earth, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart;

SEÑOR Dios de Israel, no hay Dios semejante a ti en el cielo ni en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y la misericordia a tus siervos que caminan delante de ti de todo su corazón;

15 w ho hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him; thou spokest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled with thy hand as at this day.

que has guardado a tu siervo David mi padre lo que le dijiste; tú lo dijiste de tu boca, mas con tu mano lo has cumplido, como se ve en este día.

16 A nd now, Jehovah, God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only thy sons take heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.

Ahora, pues, SEÑOR Dios de Israel, guarda a David mi padre lo que le has prometido, diciendo: No faltará de ti varón delante de mí, que se siente en el trono de Israel, a condición que tus hijos guarden su camino, andando en mi ley, como tú delante de mí has andado.

17 A nd now, Jehovah, God of Israel, let thy word be verified which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David.

Ahora pues, oh SEÑOR Dios de Israel, sea firme tu palabra que dijiste a tu siervo David.

18 B ut will God indeed dwell with man on the earth? behold, the heavens and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!

¿Es verdad que Dios ha de habitar con el hombre en la tierra? He aquí, los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no pueden contenerte; ¿cuánto menos esta Casa que he edificado?

19 Y et have respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, Jehovah, my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee;

Mas tú mirarás a la oración de tu siervo, y a su ruego, oh SEÑOR Dios mío, para oír el clamor y la oración con que tu siervo ora delante de ti;

20 t hat thine eyes may be open upon this house day and night, upon the place in which thou hast said thou wouldest put thy name: to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.

que tus ojos estén abiertos sobre esta Casa de día y de noche, sobre el lugar del cual dijiste, Mi Nombre estará allí; que oigas la oración con que tu siervo ora en este lugar.

21 A nd hearken unto the supplications of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, which they shall pray toward this place, and hear thou from thy dwelling-place, from the heavens, and when thou hearest, forgive.

Asimismo que oigas el ruego de tu siervo, y de tu pueblo Israel, cuando oraren en este lugar, que tú oirás desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu habitación; que oigas y perdones.

22 I f a man have sinned against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to adjure him, and the oath come before thine altar in this house;

Si alguno pecare contra su prójimo, y él le pidiere juramento haciéndole jurar, y el juramento viniere delante de tu altar en esta casa,

23 t hen hear thou from the heavens, and do, and judge thy servants, requiting the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head; and justifying the righteous, giving him according to his righteousness.

tú oirás desde los cielos, y harás derecho a tus siervos, dando la paga al impío, haciendo volver su proceder sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo en darle conforme a su justicia.

24 A nd if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication before thee in this house;

Si tu pueblo Israel cayere delante de los enemigos, por haber pecado contra ti, y si se convirtieren, y confesaren tu Nombre, y oraren, y rogaren delante de ti en esta Casa,

25 t hen hear thou from the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land that thou gavest to them and to their fathers.

tú oirás desde los cielos, y perdonarás el pecado de tu pueblo Israel, y los volverás a la tierra que diste a ellos y a sus padres.

26 W hen the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, because thou hast afflicted them;

Si los cielos se cerraren, que no haya lluvias por haber pecado contra ti, si oraren a ti en este lugar, y confesaren tu Nombre, y se convirtieren de sus pecados, cuando los afligieres,

27 t hen hear thou in the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou teachest them the good way wherein they should walk; and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.

tú los oirás en los cielos, y perdonarás el pecado de tus siervos, y de tu pueblo Israel, y les enseñarás el buen camino para que anden en él, y darás lluvia sobre tu tierra, la cual diste por heredad a tu pueblo.

28 I f there be famine in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blight or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemies besiege them in the land of their gates; whatever plague or whatever sickness there be:

Y si hubiere hambre en la tierra, o si hubiere pestilencia; si hubiere tizoncillo o añublo, langosta o pulgón; o si los cercaren sus enemigos en la tierra de sus ciudades; o cualquier aflicción o enfermedad que sea;

29 w hat prayer, what supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, when they shall know every man his own plague, and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house;

toda oración y todo ruego que hiciere cualquier hombre, o todo tu pueblo Israel, o cualquiera que conociere su aflicción y su dolor en su corazón, si extendiere sus manos a esta Casa,

30 t hen hear thou from the heavens, the settled place of thy dwelling, and forgive, and render unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou knowest (for thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of the children of men),

tú oirás desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu habitación, y perdonarás, y darás a cada uno conforme a sus caminos, habiendo conocido su corazón (porque solo tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de los hombres);

31 t hat they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, all the days that they live upon the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.

para que te teman y anden en tus caminos, todos los días que vivieren sobre la faz de la tierra que tú diste a nuestros padres.

32 A nd as to the stranger also, who is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy great name's sake, and thy mighty hand and thy stretched-out arm; when they shall come and pray toward this house,

Y también al extranjero que no fuere de tu pueblo Israel, que hubiere venido de lejanas tierras a causa de tu gran Nombre, y de tu mano fuerte, y de tu brazo extendido, si vinieren, y oraren en esta Casa,

33 t hen hear thou from the heavens, the settled place of thy dwelling, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; in order that all peoples of the earth may know thy name, and may fear thee as do thy people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.

tú oirás desde los cielos, desde la habitación de tu morada, y harás conforme a todas las cosas por las cuales hubiere clamado a ti el extranjero; para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu Nombre, y te teman como tu pueblo Israel, y sepan que tu Nombre es invocado sobre esta Casa que he edificado yo.

34 I f thy people go out to battle against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city that thou hast chosen, and the house that I have built unto thy name;

Si tu pueblo saliere a la guerra contra sus enemigos por el camino que tú los enviares, y oraren a ti hacia esta ciudad que tú elegiste, hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu Nombre,

35 t hen hear thou from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their right.

tú oirás desde los cielos su oración y su ruego, y harás su juicio.

36 I f they have sinned against thee (for there is no man that sinneth not), and thou be angry with them, and give them up to the enemy, and they have carried them away captives unto a land far off or near;

Si pecaren contra ti, (pues no hay hombre que no peque,) y te airares contra ellos, y los entregares delante de sus enemigos, para que los que los tomaren los lleven cautivos a tierra de enemigos, lejos o cerca,

37 a nd if they shall take it to heart in the land whither they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done iniquity and have dealt perversely;

Y ellos volvieren en sí en la tierra donde fueren llevados cautivos; si se convirtieren, y oraren a ti en la tierra de su cautividad, y dijeren: Pecamos, hemos hecho inicuamente, impíamente hemos obrado;

38 a nd if they return unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captives, and pray toward their land which thou gavest unto their fathers, and the city that thou hast chosen, and the house that I have built unto thy name;

si se convirtieren a ti de todo su corazón y de toda su alma en la tierra de su cautividad, donde los hubieren llevado cautivos, y oraren hacia su tierra que tú diste a sus padres, hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste, y hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu Nombre;

39 t hen hear thou from the heavens, from the settled place of thy dwelling, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their right, and forgive thy people their sin against thee.

tú oirás desde los cielos, desde la morada de su habitación, su oración y su ruego, y harás su juicio, y perdonarás a tu pueblo que pecó contra ti.

40 N ow, my God, I beseech thee, let thine eyes be open and let thine ears be attentive unto the prayer in this place.

Ahora, pues, oh Dios mío, te ruego estén abiertos tus ojos, y atentos tus oídos a la oración en este lugar.

41 A nd now, arise, Jehovah Elohim, into thy resting-place, thou and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, Jehovah Elohim, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness.

Oh SEÑOR Dios, levántate ahora para habitar en tu reposo, tú y el arca de tu fortaleza; sean, oh SEÑOR Dios, vestidos de salvación tus sacerdotes, y gocen de bien tus misericordiosos.

42 J ehovah Elohim, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember mercies to David thy servant.

SEÑOR Dios, no hagas volver el rostro de tu ungido; acuérdate de las misericordias de David tu siervo.
