1 A nd Job answered and said,

Y respondió Job, y dijo:

2 H ear attentively my speech, and let this replace your consolations.

Oíd atentamente mi palabra, y sea esto por vuestros consuelos.

3 S uffer me and I will speak; and after I have spoken, mock on!

Soportadme, y yo hablaré; y después que hubiere hablado, escarneced.

4 A s for me, is my complaint to a man? or wherefore should not my spirit be impatient?

¿Por ventura quejo a algún hombre? Y si es así ¿por qué no se ha de angustiar mi espíritu?

5 M ark me, and be astonished, and lay the hand upon the mouth.

Miradme, y espantaos, y poned la mano sobre la boca.

6 E ven when I think, I am affrighted, and trembling taketh hold of my flesh.

Aun yo mismo, cuando me acuerdo, me asombro, y toma temblor mi carne.

7 W herefore do the wicked live, grow old, yea, become mighty in power?

¿Por qué viven los impíos, y se envejecen, y aún crecen en riquezas?

8 T heir seed is established with them in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.

Su simiente con ellos, compuesta delante de ellos; y sus renuevos delante de sus ojos.

9 T heir houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of +God upon them.

Sus casas seguras de temor, ni hay azote de Dios sobre ellos.

10 T heir bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

Sus vacas conciben, no abortan; paren sus vacas, y no malogran su cría.

11 T hey send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

Salen sus chiquitos como manada de ovejas, y sus hijos andan saltando.

12 T hey shout to the tambour and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

Al son de tamboril y cítara saltan, y se regocijan al son del órgano.

13 T hey spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment go down to Sheol.

Gastan sus días en bien, y en un momento descienden al Seol.

14 A nd they say unto God, Depart from us, for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways!

Dicen pues a Dios: Apártate de nosotros, que no queremos el conocimiento de tus caminos.

15 W hat is the Almighty that we should serve him? and what are we profited if we pray unto him?

¿Quién es el Todopoderoso, para que le sirvamos? ¿Y de qué nos aprovechará que oremos a él?

16 B ehold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked be far from me!

He aquí que su bien no está en manos de ellos; el consejo de los impíos lejos esté de mí.

17 H ow often is the lamp of the wicked put out, and cometh their calamity upon them? Doth he distribute sorrows in his anger?

¶ ¡Oh cuántas veces el candil de los impíos es apagado, y viene sobre ellos su contrición, y con su ira Dios les reparte dolores!

18 D o they become as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away?

Serán como la paja delante del viento, y como el tamo que arrebata el torbellino.

19 + God layeth up his iniquity for his children; he rewardeth him, and he shall know:

Dios guardará para los hijos de ellos su violencia; y le dará su pago, para que conozca.

20 H is eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the fury of the Almighty.

Verán sus ojos su quebranto, y beberá de la ira del Todopoderoso.

21 F or what pleasure should he have in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

Porque ¿qué deleite tendrá él de su casa después de sí, siendo cortado el número de sus meses?

22 C an any teach God knowledge? And he it is that judgeth those that are high.

¿Por ventura enseñará él a Dios conocimiento, juzgando él las alturas?

23 O ne dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;

Este morirá en la fortaleza de su hermosura, todo quieto y pacífico.

24 H is sides are full of fat, and the marrow of his bones is moistened;

Sus senos están llenos de leche, y sus huesos serán regados de tuétano.

25 A nd another dieth in bitterness of soul, and hath not tasted good:

Y este otro morirá en amargura de ánimo, y no habiendo comido jamás con gusto.

26 T ogether they lie down in the dust, and the worms cover them.

Igualmente yacerán ellos en el polvo, y gusanos los cubrirán.

27 L o, I know your thoughts, and the devices ye wrongfully imagine against me.

He aquí, yo conozco vuestros pensamientos, y las imaginaciones que contra mí forjáis.

28 F or ye say, Where is the house of the noble? and where the tent of the dwellings of the wicked?

Porque decís: ¿Qué es de la casa del príncipe, y qué de la tienda de las moradas de los impíos?

29 H ave ye not asked the wayfarers? and do ye not regard their tokens:

¿No habéis preguntado a los que pasan por los caminos, por cuyas señas no negaréis?

30 T hat the wicked is reserved for the day of calamity? They are led forth to the day of wrath.

Que el malo es guardado para el día de la destrucción, para el día de las iras son llevados.

31 W ho shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

¿Quién le denunciará en su cara su camino? Y de lo que él hizo, ¿quién le dará el pago?

32 Y et is he carried to the graves, and watch is kept over the tomb.

Porque él ya será llevado a los sepulcros, y en la tumba permanecerá.

33 T he clods of the valley are sweet unto him; and every man followeth suit after him, as there were innumerable before him.

Los terrones del arroyo le serán ya dulces; y tras de él será llevado todo hombre, y antes de él han ido innumerables.

34 H ow then comfort ye me in vain? Your answers remain perfidious.

¿Cómo, pues, me consoláis en vano, dado que vuestras respuestas quedan por mentira?
