1 A nd Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened to your voice in all that ye said to me, and have made a king over you.

¶ Y dijo Samuel a todo Israel: He aquí, yo he oído vuestra voz en todas las cosas que me habéis dicho, y os he puesto rey.

2 A nd now behold, the king walks before you; and I am old and grey-headed; and behold, my sons are with you; and I have walked before you from my youth up to this day.

Ahora, pues, he aquí vuestro rey va delante de vosotros. Yo soy ya viejo y cano; mas mis hijos están con vosotros, y yo he andado delante de vosotros desde mi juventud hasta este día.

3 H ere I am: testify against me before Jehovah, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I injured? or of whose hand have I received any ransom and blinded mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it to you.

Aquí estoy; atestiguad contra mí delante del SEÑOR y delante de su ungido, si he tomado el buey de alguno, o si he tomado el asno de alguno, o si he calumniado a alguien, o si he agraviado a alguno, o si de alguien he tomado cohecho por el cual haya cubierto mis ojos; y os satisfaré.

4 A nd they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, and thou hast not injured us, neither hast thou taken aught of any man's hand.

Entonces dijeron: Nunca nos has calumniado, ni agraviado, ni has tomado algo de mano de ningún hombre.

5 A nd he said to them, Jehovah is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found aught in my hand! And said, witness!

Y él les dijo: El SEÑOR es testigo contra vosotros, y su ungido también es testigo en este día, que no habéis hallado en mi mano cosa ninguna. Y ellos respondieron: Así es.

6 A nd Samuel said to the people, Jehovah who appointed Moses and Aaron, and who brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

¶ Entonces Samuel dijo al pueblo: el SEÑOR es quien hizo a Moisés y a Aarón, y que sacó a vuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto.

7 A nd now stand still, that I may plead with you before Jehovah of all the righteous acts of Jehovah which he did to you and to your fathers.

Ahora, pues, aguardad, y yo os pondré demanda delante del SEÑOR de todas las justicias del SEÑOR, que ha hecho con vosotros y con vuestros padres.

8 W hen Jacob had come into Egypt, and your fathers cried to Jehovah, then Jehovah sent Moses and Aaron, and they brought your fathers forth out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.

Después que Jacob hubo entrado en Egipto y vuestros padres clamaron al SEÑOR, el SEÑOR envió a Moisés y a Aarón, los cuales sacaron a vuestros padres de Egipto, y los hicieron habitar en este lugar.

9 A nd they forgot Jehovah their God, and he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

Y olvidaron al SEÑOR su Dios, y él los vendió en la mano de Sísara capitán del ejército de Hazor, y en la mano de los filisteos, y en la mano del rey de Moab, los cuales les hicieron guerra.

10 A nd they cried to Jehovah and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and have served the Baals and the Ashtoreths; and now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.

Y ellos clamaron al SEÑOR, y dijeron: Pecamos, porque hemos dejado al SEÑOR, y hemos servido a los baales y a Astarot; líbranos, pues, ahora de la mano de nuestros enemigos, y te serviremos.

11 A nd Jehovah sent Jerubbaal and Bedan and Jephthah and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies round about, so that ye dwelt in safety.

Entonces el SEÑOR envió a Jerobaal, a Bedán, a Jefté, y a Samuel, y os libró de mano de vuestros enemigos alrededor, y habitasteis seguros.

12 B ut when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said to me, Nay, but a king shall reign over us; when Jehovah your God was your king.

Y habiendo visto que Nahas rey de lo hijos de Amón venía contra vosotros, me dijisteis: No, sino rey reinará sobre nosotros; siendo vuestro Rey el SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

13 A nd now behold, the king whom ye have chosen, whom ye have asked for! and behold, Jehovah has set a king over you.

Ahora, pues, ved aquí vuestro rey que habéis elegido, el cual pedisteis; ya veis que el SEÑOR ha puesto sobre vosotros rey.

14 I f ye fear Jehovah, and serve him, and hearken to his voice, and rebel not against the commandment of Jehovah, then both ye and the king also that reigns over you shall continue following Jehovah your God.

Si temiereis al SEÑOR y le sirviereis, y oyereis su voz, y no fuereis rebeldes a la palabra del SEÑOR, así vosotros como el rey que reina sobre vosotros, seréis en pos del SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

15 B ut if ye will not hearken to the voice of Jehovah, and if ye rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, then will the hand of Jehovah be against you, as against your fathers.

Mas si no oyereis la voz del SEÑOR, y si fuereis rebeldes a las palabras del SEÑOR, la mano del SEÑOR será contra vosotros como contra vuestros padres.

16 N ow therefore stand and see this great thing which Jehovah will do before your eyes.

¶ Esperad aún ahora, y mirad esta gran cosa que el SEÑOR hará delante de vuestros ojos.

17 I s it not wheat-harvest to-day? I will call unto Jehovah, and he will send thunder and rain; and ye shall perceive and see that your wickedness is great which ye have done in the sight of Jehovah in asking for yourselves a king.

¿No es ahora la siega de los trigos? Yo clamaré al SEÑOR, y él dará truenos y aguas; para que conozcáis y veáis que es grande vuestra maldad que habéis hecho en los ojos del SEÑOR, pidiéndoos rey.

18 A nd Samuel called to Jehovah; and Jehovah sent thunder and rain that day. And all the people greatly feared Jehovah and Samuel.

Y Samuel clamó al SEÑOR; y el SEÑOR dio truenos y lluvias en aquel día; y todo el pueblo temió en gran manera al SEÑOR y a Samuel.

19 A nd all the people said to Samuel, Pray to Jehovah thy God for thy servants, that we die not; for we have added to all our sins the wickedness to ask for ourselves a king.

Entonces dijo todo el pueblo a Samuel: Ruega por tus siervos al SEÑOR tu Dios, que no muramos; porque a todos nuestros pecados hemos añadido este mal de pedir rey para nosotros.

20 A nd Samuel said to the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness; yet turn not aside from following Jehovah, and serve Jehovah with all your heart;

Y Samuel respondió al pueblo: No temáis; vosotros habéis cometido todo este mal; mas con todo eso no os apartéis de en pos del SEÑOR, sino servid al SEÑOR con todo vuestro corazón.

21 a nd turn ye not aside; for after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.

No os apartéis en pos de las vanidades, que no aprovechan ni libran, porque son vanidades.

22 F or Jehovah will not cast away his people for his great name's sake; because it has pleased Jehovah to make you his people.

Pues el SEÑOR no desamparará a su pueblo, por su grande nombre; porque el SEÑOR ha querido haceros pueblo suyo.

23 M oreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Jehovah in ceasing to pray for you; and I will teach you the good and right way.

Así que, lejos sea de mí que peque yo contra el SEÑOR cesando de rogar por vosotros; antes yo os enseñaré por el camino bueno y derecho.

24 O nly, fear Jehovah, and serve him in truth, with all your heart; for see how great things he has done for you.

Solamente temed al SEÑOR, y servidle de verdad con todo vuestro corazón, porque considerad cuán grandes cosas ha hecho con vosotros.

25 B ut if ye do wickedly, ye shall perish, both ye and your king.

Mas si perseverareis en hacer mal, vosotros y vuestro rey pereceréis.
