1 E phraim feedeth on wind, and pursueth after the east wind: all day long he multiplieth lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

Efraín es apacentado del viento, y sigue al solano; mentira y destrucción aumentan continuamente; porque hicieron alianza con los asirios, y el aceite se lleva a Egipto.

2 J ehovah hath also a controversy with Judah, and he will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

Pleito tiene el SEÑOR con Judá para visitar a Jacob conforme a sus caminos; le pagará conforme a sus obras.

3 H e took his brother by the heel in the womb, and in his strength he wrestled with God.

En el vientre tomó por el calcañar a su hermano, y con su fortaleza venció al ángel.

4 Y ea, he wrestled with the Angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us,

Dominó al ángel, y prevaleció; lloró, y le rogó; en Bet-el le halló, y allí habló con nosotros.

5 — even Jehovah, the God of hosts,—Jehovah is his memorial.

Mas el SEÑOR es Dios de los ejércitos; el SEÑOR es su memorial.

6 A nd thou, return unto thy God: keep loving-kindness and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.

Tú, pues, conviértete a tu Dios; guarda misericordia y juicio, y en tu Dios espera siempre.

7 a merchant, balances of deceit are in his hand; he loveth to oppress.

Es mercader que tiene en su mano peso falso, amador de opresión.

8 A nd Ephraim saith, Nevertheless I am become rich, I have found me out substance; in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.

Y dijo Efraín: Ciertamente yo he enriquecido, he hallado riquezas para mí; nadie hallará en mí iniquidad, ni pecado en todos mis trabajos.

9 B ut I Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt will again make thee to dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.

Pero yo soy el SEÑOR tu Dios desde la tierra de Egipto; aún te haré morar en tiendas, como en los días de la fiesta.

10 A nd I have spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and by means of the prophets have I used similitudes.

Y hablé por los profetas, y yo aumenté las visiones, y por mano de los profetas puse semejanzas.

11 I f Gilead is iniquity, surely they are but vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.

¿Es Galaad iniquidad? Ciertamente vanidad son; en Gilgal sacrificaron bueyes; y aún son sus altares como montones en los surcos del campo.

12 A nd Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept.

Mas Jacob huyó a tierra de Aram, y sirvió Israel por su mujer, y por su mujer fue pastor.

13 A nd by a prophet Jehovah brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

Y por profeta hizo subir el SEÑOR a Israel de Egipto, y por profeta fue guardado.

14 E phraim provoked to anger most bitterly; and his Lord shall leave his blood upon him, and recompense unto him his reproach.

Enojó Efraín a Dios con amarguras; por tanto, su sangre se derramará sobre él, y su Señor le pagará su oprobio.
