1 N ow Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, to the princes of Jizreel, to the elders, and to Ahab's guardians, saying,

Y tenía Acab en Samaria setenta hijos; y escribió letras Jehú, y las envió a Samaria a los príncipes de Jezreel, a los ancianos y a los ayos de Acab, diciendo:

2 A nd now, when this letter comes to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots, and horses, and a fortified city, and armour,

Luego llegando estas letras a vosotros, los que tenéis los hijos de vuestro señor, y los que tenéis carros y gente de a caballo, y los que tenéis la munición y las armas de la ciudad,

3 l ook out the best and worthiest of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.

mirad cuál es el mejor y él más recto de los hijos de vuestro señor, y ponedlo en el trono de su padre; y pelead por la casa de vuestro señor.

4 A nd they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, the two kings stood not before him; and how shall we stand?

Mas ellos tuvieron gran temor, y dijeron: He aquí dos reyes no pudieron resistirle, ¿cómo le resistiremos nosotros?

5 A nd he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, and the elders, and the guardians sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any one king; do what is good in thy sight.

Y el mayordomo, y el presidente de la ciudad, y los ancianos, y los ayos, enviaron a decir a Jehú: Siervos tuyos somos, y haremos todo lo que nos mandares; no elegiremos por rey a ninguno; mas tú harás lo que bien te pareciere.

6 A nd he wrote a letter the second time to them saying, If ye are mine, and will hearken to my voice, take the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jizreel to-morrow at this time. Now the king's sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.

El entonces les escribió la segunda vez diciendo: Si sois míos, y queréis escuchar mi voz, tomad las cabezas de los varones hijos de vuestro señor, y venid mañana a estas horas a mí a Jezreel. Y los hijos del rey, setenta varones, estaban con los principales de la ciudad, que los criaban.

7 A nd it came to pass when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slaughtered seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Jizreel.

Y cuando las letras llegaron a ellos, tomaron a los hijos del rey, y degollaron setenta varones, y pusieron sus cabezas en canastillos, y se las enviaron a Jezreel.

8 A nd a messenger came and told him saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.

Y vino un mensajero que le dio las nuevas, diciendo: Han traído las cabezas de los hijos del rey. Y él dijo: Ponedlas en dos montones a la entrada de la puerta hasta la mañana.

9 A nd it came to pass in the morning that he went out; and he stood, and said to all the people, Ye are righteous! behold, I conspired against my master and killed him; but who smote all these?

Venida la mañana, salió él, y estando en pie dijo a todo el pueblo: Vosotros sois justos; he aquí yo he conspirado contra mi señor, y le he dado muerte; ¿mas quién ha dado muerte a todos estos?

10 K now now that nothing shall fall to the earth of the word of Jehovah, which Jehovah spoke concerning the house of Ahab; for Jehovah has done that which he said through his servant Elijah.

Sabed ahora que de la palabra del SEÑOR que habló el SEÑOR sobre la casa de Acab, nada caerá en tierra; y que el SEÑOR ha hecho lo que dijo por su siervo Elías.

11 A nd Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jizreel, and all his great men, and his acquaintances, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

Mató entonces Jehú a todos los que habían quedado de la casa de Acab en Jezreel, y a todos sus principales, y a todos sus familiares, y a sus sacerdotes, hasta que no le quedó ninguno.

12 A nd he rose up and departed, and came to Samaria. And as he was at the shepherds' meeting-place on the way,

Y se levantó de allí, y vino a Samaria; y llegando él en el camino a una casa de esquileo de pastores,

13 J ehu found the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they said, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and have come down to salute the children of the king, and the children of the queen.

Jehú halló allí a los hermanos de Ocozías rey de Judá, y les dijo: ¿Quiénes sois vosotros? Y ellos dijeron: Somos hermanos de Ocozías, y hemos venido a saludar a los hijos del rey, y a los hijos de la reina.

14 A nd he said, Take them alive! And they took them alive, and slew them at the well of the meeting-place, forty-two men; and he left not one of them remaining.

Entonces él dijo: Prendedlos vivos. Y después que los tomaron vivos, los degollaron junto al pozo de la casa de esquileo, cuarenta y dos varones, sin dejar ninguno de ellos.

15 A nd he departed thence, and found Jehonadab the son of Rechab to meet him; and he greeted him, and said to him, Is thy heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab said, It is.—If it be, give thy hand.—And he gave his hand; and took him up to him into the chariot,

Partiendo luego de allí se encontró con Jonadab hijo de Recab; y después que lo hubo saludado, le dijo: ¿Es recto tu corazón, como el mío es recto con el tuyo? Y Jonadab dijo: Lo es. Pues si lo es, dame la mano. Y él le dio su mano y lo hizo subir consigo en el carro.

16 a nd said, Come with me, and see my zeal for Jehovah. So they made him ride in his chariot.

Y le dijo: Ven conmigo, y verás mi celo por el SEÑOR. Lo pusieron, pues, en su carro.

17 A nd he came to Samaria, and smote all that remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of Jehovah which he spoke to Elijah.

Y cuando vino a Samaria, mató a todos los que habían quedado de Acab en Samaria, hasta raerlo del todo, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR, que había hablado por Elías.

18 A nd Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, Ahab served Baal a little: Jehu will serve him much.

¶ Y juntó Jehú todo el pueblo, y les dijo: Acab sirvió poco a Baal; mas Jehú le servirá mucho.

19 A nd now call me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests: let none be wanting; for I have a great sacrifice to Baal; whoever shall be wanting shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, in order that he might bring destruction upon the servants of Baal.

Llamadme, pues, luego a todos los profetas de Baal, a todos sus siervos, y a todos sus sacerdotes; que no falte ninguno, porque tengo un gran sacrifico para Baal; cualquiera que faltare, no vivirá. Esto hacía Jehú con astucia, para destruir a los que servían a Baal.

20 A nd Jehu said, Hallow a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed.

Y dijo Jehú: Santificad un día solemne a Baal. Y ellos la convocaron.

21 A nd Jehu sent into all Israel; and all the servants of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not: and they entered into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to the other.

Y envió Jehú por todo Israel, y vinieron todos los siervos de Baal, de modo que no faltó ninguno que no viniera. Y entraron en la casa de Baal, y la casa de Baal se llenó de extremo a extremo.

22 A nd he said to him that was over the wardrobe, Bring forth vestments for all the servants of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

Entonces dijo al que tenía el cargo de las vestiduras: Saca vestiduras para todos los siervos de Baal. Y él les sacó vestimentas.

23 A nd Jehu and Jehonadab the son of Rechab entered into the house of Baal, and said to the servants of Baal, Search, and see that there be here with you none of the servants of Jehovah, but the servants of Baal only.

Y entró Jehú con Jonadab hijo de Recab en el templo de Baal, y dijo a los siervos de Baal: Mirad y ved que por dicha no haya aquí entre vosotros alguno de los siervos del SEÑOR, sino sólo los siervos de Baal.

24 A nd they entered in to offer sacrifices and burnt-offerings. Now Jehu appointed eighty men without, and said, He that allows any of the men to escape that I have brought into your hands, his life shall be for the life of him.

Y cuando ellos entraron para hacer sacrificios y holocaustos, Jehú puso fuera a ochenta varones, y les dijo: Cualquiera que dejare vivo a alguno de aquellos hombres que yo he puesto en vuestras manos, su vida será por la del otro.

25 A nd it came to pass as soon as they had ended offering up the burnt-offering, that Jehu said to the couriers and to the captains, Go in, slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the couriers and the captains cast there. And they went to the city of the house of Baal,

Y después que acabaron ellos de hacer el holocausto, Jehú dijo a los de su guardia y a los capitanes: Entrad, y matadlos; que no escape ninguno. Y los hirieron a espada; y los dejaron tendidos los de la guardia y los capitanes, y fueron hasta la ciudad de la casa de Baal,

26 a nd brought forth the columns out of the house of Baal, and burned them;

y sacaron las estatuas de la casa de Baal, y las quemaron.

27 a nd they broke down the column of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a draught-house to this day.

Y quebraron la estatua de Baal, y derribaron la casa de Baal, la hicieron necesaria, hasta hoy.

28 T hus Jehu extirpated Baal out of Israel.

Así rayó Jehú a Baal de Israel.

29 O nly, the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, from them Jehu departed not: the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

¶ Con todo eso Jehú no se apartó de los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel; a saber, de en pos de los becerros de oro que estaban en Bet-el y en Dan.

30 A nd Jehovah said to Jehu, Because thou hast executed well that which is right in my sight, hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, thy children of the fourth shall sit on the throne of Israel.

Y el SEÑOR dijo a Jehú: Por cuanto has hecho bien, ejecutando lo recto delante de mis ojos (conforme a todo lo que estaba en mi corazón has hecho a la casa de Acab), tus hijos se sentarán en el trono de Israel hasta la cuarta generación.

31 B ut Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of Jehovah the God of Israel with all his heart; he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin.

Mas Jehú no se cuidó de andar en la ley del SEÑOR Dios de Israel con todo su corazón, ni se apartó de los pecados de Jeroboam, el que había hecho pecar a Israel.

32 I n those days Jehovah began to cut Israel short; and Hazael smote them in all the borders of Israel;

En aquellos días comenzó el SEÑOR a talar en Israel: y los hirió Hazael en todos los términos de Israel,

33 f rom the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, both Gilead and Bashan.

desde el Jordán al nacimiento del sol, toda la tierra de Galaad, de Gad, de Rubén, y de Manasés; desde Aroer que está junto al arroyo de Arnón, a Galaad y a Basán.

34 A nd the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Los demás hechos de Jehú, y todas las cosas que hizo, y toda su valentía, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

35 A nd Jehu slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria: and Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Jehú con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en Samaria; y reinó en su lugar Joacaz su hijo.

36 N ow the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

El tiempo que reinó Jehú sobre Israel en Samaria, fue veintiocho años.
