1 A nd it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to take heed to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that Jehovah thy God will set thee supreme above all nations of the earth;

¶ Y será que, si oyeres diligente la voz del SEÑOR tu Dios, para guardar, para poner por obra todos sus mandamientos que yo te mando hoy, también el SEÑOR tu Dios te pondrá en alto sobre todos los gentiles de la tierra;

2 a nd all these blessings shall come on thee and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God.

y vendrán sobre ti todas estas bendiciones, y te alcanzarán, cuando oyeres la voz del SEÑOR tu Dios.

3 B lessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

Bendito serás tú en la ciudad, y bendito tú en el campo.

4 B lessed shall be the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the offspring of thy kine, and the increase of thy sheep.

Bendito el fruto de tu vientre, y el fruto de tu tierra, y el fruto de tu bestia; la cría de tus vacas, y los rebaños de tus ovejas.

5 B lessed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.

Bendito tu canastillo y tus sobras.

6 B lessed shalt thou be in thy coming in, and blessed shalt thou be in thy going out.

Bendito serás en tu entrar, y bendito en tu salir.

7 J ehovah will give up, smitten before thee, thine enemies that rise up against thee; they shall come out against thee one way, and by seven ways shall they flee before thee.

Entregará el SEÑOR tus enemigos, que se levantaren contra ti, heridos delante ti; por un camino saldrán a ti, y por siete caminos huirán delante de ti.

8 J ehovah will command blessing on thee in thy granaries, and in all the business of thy hand; and he will bless thee in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

Enviará el SEÑOR contigo la bendición en tus graneros, y en todo aquello en que pusieres tu mano; y te bendecirá en la tierra que el SEÑOR tu Dios te da.

9 J ehovah will establish thee unto himself a holy people as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, and walk in his ways.

Te confirmará el SEÑOR por pueblo suyo santo, como te ha jurado, cuando guardares los mandamientos del SEÑOR tu Dios, y anduvieres en sus caminos.

10 A nd all peoples of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of Jehovah, and they shall be afraid of thee.

Y verán todos los pueblos de la tierra que el nombre del SEÑOR es llamado sobre ti, y te temerán.

11 A nd Jehovah will give thee abundance of good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land that Jehovah swore unto thy fathers to give thee.

Y te hará el SEÑOR que te sobreabunde el bien, en el fruto de tu vientre, y en el fruto de tu bestia, y en el fruto de tu tierra, sobre la tierra que juró el SEÑOR a tus padres que te había de dar.

12 J ehovah will open to thee his good treasure, the heavens, to give rain unto thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand; and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow.

Te abrirá el SEÑOR su buen depósito, el cielo, para dar lluvia a tu tierra en su tiempo, y para bendecir toda obra de tus manos. Y prestarás a muchos gentiles, y tú no tomarás prestado.

13 A nd Jehovah will make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah thy God, which I command thee this day, to keep and to do them,

Y te pondrá el SEÑOR por cabeza, y no por cola; y estarás encima solamente, y no estarás debajo; cuando escuchares a los mandamientos del SEÑOR tu Dios, que yo te mando hoy, para que los guardes y cumplas.

14 a nd if thou turn not aside from any of the words that I command thee this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Y no te apartes de todas las palabras que yo os mando hoy, ni a diestra ni a siniestra, para ir tras dioses ajenos para servirles.

15 B ut it shall come to pass if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to take heed to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee and overtake thee.

¶ Y será, si no oyeres la voz del SEÑOR tu Dios, para guardar, para poner por obra todos sus mandamientos y sus estatutos, que yo te mando hoy, que vendrán sobre ti todas estas maldiciones, y te alcanzarán.

16 C ursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

Maldito serás tú en la ciudad, y maldito en el campo.

17 C ursed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.

Maldito tu canastillo, y tus sobras.

18 C ursed shall be the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy ground, the offspring of thy kine, and the increase of thy sheep.

Maldito el fruto de tu vientre, y el fruto de tu tierra, y la cría de tus vacas, y los rebaños de tus ovejas.

19 C ursed shalt thou be in thy coming in, and cursed shalt thou be in thy going out.

Maldito serás en tu entrar, y maldito en tu salir.

20 J ehovah will send upon thee cursing, confusion, and rebuke, in all the business of thy hand which thou doest, until thou be destroyed and until thou perish quickly, because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.

El SEÑOR enviará contra ti la maldición, quebranto y asombro en todo cuanto pusieres mano e hicieres, hasta que seas destruido, y perezcas presto a causa de la maldad de tus obras, por las cuales me habrás dejado.

21 J ehovah will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.

El SEÑOR hará que se te pegue mortandad, hasta que te consuma de la tierra a la cual entras para heredarla.

22 J ehovah will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with burning ague, and with drought, and with blight, and with mildew, and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

El SEÑOR te herirá de tisis, de fiebre, de ardor, de calor, de espada, y de calamidad repentina, y con añublo; y te perseguirán hasta que perezcas.

23 A nd thy heavens which are over thy head shall be brass, and the earth which is under thee, iron.

Y tus cielos que están sobre tu cabeza, serán de bronce; y la tierra que está debajo de ti, de hierro.

24 J ehovah will give as the rain of thy land powder and dust; from the heavens shall it come down upon thee until thou be destroyed.

Dará el SEÑOR por lluvia a tu tierra polvo y ceniza; de los cielos descenderán sobre ti hasta que perezcas.

25 J ehovah will give thee up smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out against them one way, and by seven ways shalt thou flee before them; and thou shalt be driven hither and thither into all the kingdoms of the earth.

El SEÑOR te entregará herido delante de tus enemigos; por un camino saldrás a ellos, y por siete caminos huirás delante de ellos; y serás por estremecimiento a todos los reinos de la tierra.

26 A nd thy carcase shall be meat unto all the fowl of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no man to scare them away.

Y será tu cuerpo muerto por comida a toda ave del cielo, y bestia de la tierra, y no habrá quien las espante.

27 J ehovah will smite thee with the ulcers of Egypt, and with boils, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.

El SEÑOR te herirá de la llaga de Egipto, con hemorroides, con sarna, y con comezón, de que no puedas ser curado.

28 J ehovah will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart;

El SEÑOR te herirá con locura, con ceguedad, y con pasmo de corazón.

29 a nd thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways; and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled continually, and there shall be none to save.

Y palparás al mediodía, como palpa el ciego en la oscuridad, y no serás prosperado en tus caminos; y serás solamente oprimido y robado todos los días, y no habrá quien te salve.

30 T hou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not eat of it.

Te desposarás con mujer, y otro varón dormirá con ella; edificarás casa, y no habitarás en ella; plantarás viña, y no la disfrutarás.

31 T hine ox shall be slaughtered before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof; thine ass shall be snatched away from before thy face, and shall not return to thee; thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to recover them.

Tu buey será degollado delante de tus ojos, y tú no comerás de él; tu asno será arrebatado de delante de ti, y no volverá a ti; tus ovejas serán dadas a tus enemigos, y no tendrás quien te las rescate.

32 T hy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and languish for them all the day long; and there shall be no power in thy hand.

Tus hijos y tus hijas serán entregados a otro pueblo, y tus ojos lo verán, y desfallecerán por ellos todo el día; y no habrá fuerza en tu mano.

33 T he fruit of thy ground and all thy labour, shall a people that thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed continually.

El fruto de tu tierra y todo tu trabajo comerá pueblo que no conociste; y solamente serás oprimido y quebrantado todos los días.

34 A nd thou shalt be mad through the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

Y enloquecerás a causa de lo que verás con tus ojos.

35 J ehovah will smite thee in the knees and in the legs with evil ulcers, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.

Te herirá el SEÑOR con maligna llaga en las rodillas y en las piernas, sin que puedas ser curado, aun desde la planta de tu pie hasta tu coronilla.

36 J ehovah will bring thee, and thy king whom thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation that neither thou nor thy fathers have known, and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.

El SEÑOR os llevará a ti, y a tu rey que hubieres puesto sobre ti, a gente que no conociste tú ni tus padres; y allá servirás a dioses ajenos, al palo y a la piedra.

37 A nd thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples whither Jehovah shall lead thee.

Y serás por pasmo, por proverbio y por fábula, a todos los pueblos a los cuales te llevará el SEÑOR.

38 T hou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather little in; for the locust shall devour it.

Sacarás mucha simiente a la tierra, y cogerás poco; porque la langosta lo consumirá.

39 T hou shalt plant and till vineyards, but shalt drink no wine, nor gather; for the worms shall eat it.

Plantarás viñas y labrarás, mas no beberás vino, ni cogerás uvas; porque el gusano las comerá.

40 O live-trees shalt thou have throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with oil; for thine olive-tree shall cast its fruit.

Tendrás olivas en todo tu término, mas no te ungirás con el aceite; porque tu aceituna se caerá.

41 S ons and daughters shalt thou beget, but thou shalt not have them; for they shall go into captivity.

Hijos e hijas engendrarás, y no serán para ti; porque irán en cautiverio.

42 A ll thy trees and the fruit of thy ground shall the locust possess.

Toda tu arboleda y el fruto de tu tierra consumirá la langosta.

43 T he sojourner that is in thy midst shall rise above thee higher and higher, and thou shalt sink down lower and lower.

El extranjero que estará en medio de ti subirá sobre ti muy alto, y tú descenderás muy abajo.

44 H e shall lend to thee, but thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

El te prestará a ti, y tú no le prestarás a él; él será por cabeza, y tú serás por cola.

45 A nd all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, until thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee.

¶ Y vendrán sobre ti todas estas maldiciones, y te perseguirán, y te alcanzarán hasta que perezcas; por cuanto no habrás atendido a la voz del SEÑOR tu Dios, para guardar sus mandamientos y sus estatutos, que él te mandó;

46 A nd they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.

y serán en ti por señal y por maravilla, y en tu simiente para siempre.

47 B ecause thou servedst not Jehovah thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything,

Por cuanto no serviste al SEÑOR tu Dios con alegría y con gozo de corazón, por la abundancia de todas las cosas;

48 t hou shalt serve thine enemies whom Jehovah will send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of everything; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

servirás, por tanto, a tus enemigos que enviare el SEÑOR contra ti, con hambre y con sed y con desnudez, y con falta de todas las cosas; y él pondrá yugo de hierro sobre tu cuello, hasta destruirte.

49 J ehovah will bring a nation against thee from afar, from the end of the earth, like as the eagle flieth, a nation whose tongue thou understandest not;

El SEÑOR traerá sobre ti gente de lejos, del cabo de la tierra, tan rápido como vuele el águila, gente cuya lengua no entiendas;

50 a nation of fierce countenance, which regardeth not the person of the old, nor is kind to the young;

gente fiera de rostro, que no tendrá respeto al anciano, ni perdonará al niño;

51 a nd he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy ground, until thou be destroyed; for he shall not leave thee corn, new wine, or oil, offspring of thy kine, or increase of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.

y comerá el fruto de tu bestia y el fruto de tu tierra, hasta que perezcas; y no te dejará grano, ni mosto, ni aceite, ni la cría de tus vacas, ni los rebaños de tus ovejas, hasta destruirte.

52 A nd he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and strong walls wherein thou trustedst come down, throughout all thy land; and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates in all thy land, which Jehovah thy God hath given thee.

Y te pondrá cerco en todas tus ciudades, hasta que caigan tus muros altos y encastillados en que tú confías, en toda tu tierra; te cercará, pues, en todas tus ciudades y en toda tu tierra, que el SEÑOR tu Dios te habrá dado.

53 A nd in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee, thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters whom Jehovah thy God hath given thee.

Y comerás el fruto de tu vientre, la carne de tus hijos y de tus hijas que el SEÑOR tu Dios te dio, en el cerco y el apuro con que te angustiará tu enemigo.

54 T he eye of the man in thy midst that is tender and very luxurious shall be evil towards his brother, and the wife of his bosom, and the residue of his children which he hath left;

El hombre tierno en ti, y el muy delicado, su ojo será maligno para con su hermano, y para con la mujer de su seno, y para con el resto de sus hijos que le quedaren;

55 s o that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children that he eateth, because he hath nothing left him in the siege and in the straitness wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.

para no dar a alguno de ellos de la carne de sus hijos, que él comerá, porque nada le habrá quedado, en el cerco y en el apuro con que tu enemigo te apretará en todas tus ciudades.

56 T he eye of the tender and luxurious woman in thy midst who would not attempt to set the sole of her foot upon the ground from luxuriousness and from tenderness, shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and her son, and her daughter,

La tierna y la delicada entre vosotros, que nunca la planta de su pie probó a sentar sobre la tierra, de ternura y delicadeza, su ojo será maligno para con el marido de su seno, y para con su hijo, y para con su hija,

57 b ecause of her afterbirth which hath come out between her feet, and her children whom she shall bear; for she shall secretly eat them for want of everything in the siege and in the straitness wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.

y para con su chiquita que sale de entre sus pies, y para con sus hijos que diere a luz; pues los comerá escondidamente, a falta de todo, en el cerco y en el apuro con que tu enemigo te apretará en tus ciudades;

58 I f thou wilt not take heed to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, to fear this glorious and fearful name, JEHOVAH THY GOD;

si no cuidares de poner por obra todas las palabras de esta ley que están escritas en este libro, temiendo este Nombre glorioso y terrible, YO SOY tu Dios.

59 t hen Jehovah will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, great and persistent plagues and evil and persistent sicknesses;

El SEÑOR aumentará maravillosamente tus plagas y las plagas de tu simiente, plagas grandes y duraderas, y enfermedades malignas y duraderas;

60 a nd he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt which thou art afraid of, and they shall cleave unto thee.

y hará volver sobre ti todas las enfermedades de Egipto, delante de los cuales temiste, y no te dejarán.

61 A lso every sickness and every plague which is not written in the book of this law, them will Jehovah bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

Asimismo toda enfermedad y toda plaga que no está escrita en el libro de esta ley, el SEÑOR la enviará sobre ti, hasta que tú seas destruido.

62 A nd ye shall be left a small company, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou hast not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah thy God.

Y quedaréis en pocos varones, en lugar de haber sido como las estrellas del cielo en multitud; por cuanto no escuchaste la voz del SEÑOR tu Dios.

63 A nd it shall come to pass, that as Jehovah rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you, so Jehovah will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whereunto thou goest to possess it.

Y será que de la manera que el SEÑOR se gozó sobre vosotros para haceros bien, y para multiplicaros, así se gozará el SEÑOR sobre vosotros para echaros a perder, y para destruiros; y seréis arrancados de sobre la tierra, a la cual entráis para poseerla.

64 A nd Jehovah will scatter thee among all peoples, from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; and thou shalt there serve other gods, whom thou hast not known, neither thou nor thy fathers, wood and stone.

Y el SEÑOR te esparcirá por todos los pueblos, desde un extremo de la tierra hasta el otro extremo de ella; y allí servirás a dioses ajenos que no conociste tú ni tus padres, al leño y a la piedra.

65 A nd among these nations shalt thou have no rest, neither shall the sole of thy foot have a resting-place, and Jehovah shall give thee there a trembling heart, languishing of the eyes, and pining of the soul.

Y ni aun entre los mismos gentiles reposarás, ni la planta de tu pie tendrá reposo; que allí te dará el SEÑOR corazón temeroso, y languidez de ojos, y tristeza de alma;

66 A nd thy life shall hang in suspense before thee; and thou shalt be in terror day and night and shalt be afraid of thy life.

y tendrás tu vida como colgada en duda, y estarás temeroso de noche y de día, y no confiarás de tu vida.

67 I n the morning thou shalt say, Would that it were even! and in the evening thou shalt say, Would that it were morning! through the fright of thy heart wherewith thou shalt be in terror, and through the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

Por la mañana dirás: ¡Quién diera que fuera la tarde! y a la tarde dirás: ¡Quién diera que fuera la mañana! por el miedo de tu corazón con que estarás amedrentado, y por lo que verán tus ojos.

68 A nd Jehovah will bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I said unto thee, Thou shalt see it again no more; and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and there shall be no man to buy.

Y el SEÑOR te hará volver a Egipto en navíos por el camino del cual te ha dicho: Nunca más volverás a verlo; y allí os venderán a vuestros enemigos por esclavos y por esclavas, y no habrá quien os compre.
