1 T he word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying,

2 G o to the house of the Rechabites, and speak with them, and bring them into the house of Jehovah, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.

Ve a casa de los recabitas, y habla con ellos, e introdúcelos en la Casa del SEÑOR, en una de las cámaras, y dales a beber vino.

3 A nd I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites,

Y tomé entonces a Jaazanías hijo de Jeremías, hijo de Habasinías, y a sus hermanos, y a todos sus hijos, y a toda la familia de los recabitas;

4 a nd I brought them into the house of Jehovah, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

y los metí en la Casa del SEÑOR, en la cámara de los hijos de Hanán, hijo de Igdalías, varón de Dios, la cual estaba junto a la cámara de los príncipes, que estaba sobre la cámara de Maasías hijo de Salum, guarda de los vasos.

5 A nd I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink wine.

Y puse delante de los hijos de la familia de los recabitas tazas y copas llenas de vino, y les dije: Bebed vino.

6 A nd they said, We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, ye nor your sons for ever;

Pero ellos dijeron: No beberemos vino; porque Jonadab hijo de Recab nuestro padre nos mandó, diciendo: No beberéis jamás vino vosotros ni vuestros hijos perpetuamente;

7 n either shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor shall ye have; but all your days ye shall dwell in tents, that ye may live many days in the land where ye sojourn.

ni edificaréis casa, ni sembraréis sementera, ni plantaréis viña, ni la tendréis; mas moraréis en tiendas todos vuestros días, para que viváis muchos días sobre la faz de la tierra donde vosotros peregrináis.

8 A nd we have hearkened unto the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters,

Y nosotros hemos escuchado la voz de Jonadab nuestro padre, hijo de Recab, en todas las cosas que nos mandó, de no beber vino en todos nuestros días, nosotros, ni nuestras mujeres, ni nuestros hijos, ni nuestras hijas;

9 a nd not to build houses for us to dwell in; neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed;

y de no edificar casas para nuestra morada, y de no tener viña, ni heredad, ni sementera.

10 b ut we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

Moramos, pues, en tiendas, y hemos escuchado y hecho conforme a todas las cosas que nos mandó Jonadab nuestro padre.

11 A nd it came to pass when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come and let us go into Jerusalem because of the army of the Chaldeans, and because of the army of Syria; and we dwell at Jerusalem.

Pero, sucedió, empero, que cuando Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia subió a la tierra, dijimos: Venid, y entrémonos en Jerusalén, de delante del ejército de los caldeos y de delante del ejército de los de Siria; y en Jerusalén nos quedamos.

12 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,

Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a Jeremías, diciendo:

13 T hus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Go and say to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken unto my words? saith Jehovah.

Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Ve, y di a los varones de Judá, y a los moradores de Jerusalén: ¿Nunca recibiréis castigo escuchando mis palabras? Dijo el SEÑOR.

14 T he words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; and to this day they have drunk none, for they have obeyed their father's commandment. But I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened unto me.

Fue firme la palabra de Jonadab hijo de Recab, el cual mandó a sus hijos que no bebieran vino, y no lo han bebido hasta hoy, por escuchar el mandamiento de su padre; y yo os he hablado a vosotros, madrugando, y hablando, y no me habéis oído.

15 A nd I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them; and ye shall dwell in the land that I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear nor hearkened unto me.

Y envié a vosotros a todos mis siervos los profetas, madrugando y enviando, diciendo: Tornaos ahora cada uno de su mal camino, y enmendad vuestras obras, y no vayáis tras dioses ajenos para servirles, y vivid en la tierra que di a vosotros y a vuestros padres; mas no inclinasteis vuestro oído, ni me oísteis.

16 Y ea, the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people hath not hearkened unto me;

Ciertamente los hijos de Jonadab, hijo de Recab, tuvieron por firme el mandamiento que su padre les mandó; mas este pueblo no me ha escuchado.

17 t herefore thus saith Jehovah the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken unto them, but they have not hearkened, and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.

Por tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo traigo sobre Judá y sobre todos los moradores de Jerusalén todo el mal que hablé contra ellos; porque les hablé, y no oyeron; los llamé, y no respondieron.

18 A nd Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his injunctions, and have done according unto all that he hath commanded you;

Y dijo Jeremías a la familia de los recabitas: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Porque escuchasteis el mandamiento de Jonadab vuestro padre, y guardasteis todos sus mandamientos, e hicisteis conforme a todas las cosas que os mandó;

19 t herefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, There shall not fail to Jonadab the son of Rechab a man to stand before me, for ever.

por tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: No faltará varón de Jonadab, hijo de Recab, que esté en mi presencia todos los días.
