1 A nd the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had much cattle, a very great multitude; and they saw the land of Jaazer, and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for cattle.

¶ Y los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad tenían muchísimo ganado; los cuales viendo la tierra de Jazer y de Galaad, les pareció el lugar, lugar de ganado.

2 A nd the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the assembly, saying,

Y vinieron los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén, y hablaron a Moisés, y a Eleazar el sacerdote, y a los príncipes de la congregación, diciendo:

3 A taroth, and Dibon, and Jaazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elaleh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

Atarot, Dibón, Jazer, Nimra, Hesbón, Eleale, Sebam, Nebo, y Beón,

4 t he country that Jehovah smote before the assembly of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle;

la tierra que el SEÑOR hirió delante de la congregación de Israel, es tierra de ganado, y tus siervos tienen ganado.

5 a nd they said, If we have found favour in thine eyes, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession: bring us not over the Jordan.

Por tanto, dijeron, si hallamos gracia en tus ojos, dése esta tierra a tus siervos en heredad, y no nos hagas pasar el Jordán.

6 A nd Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye abide here?

Y respondió Moisés a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Rubén: ¿Vendrán vuestros hermanos a la guerra, y vosotros os quedaréis aquí?

7 A nd why do ye discourage the children of Israel from going over into the land that Jehovah has given them?

¿Y por qué desanimáis el corazón de los hijos de Israel, para que no pasen a la tierra que les ha dado el SEÑOR?

8 T hus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land:

Así hicieron vuestros padres, cuando los envié desde Cades-barnea para que vieran la tierra.

9 t hey went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, and discouraged the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land that Jehovah had given them.

Cuando subieron hasta la arroyada de Escol, y vieron la tierra desanimaron el corazón de los hijos de Israel, para no venir a la tierra que el SEÑOR les había dado.

10 A nd Jehovah's anger was kindled the same time, and he swore, saying,

Y el furor del SEÑOR se encendió entonces, y juró diciendo:

11 I f the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land that I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob! for they have not wholly followed me;

Que no verán los varones que subieron de Egipto de veinte años arriba, la tierra por la cual juré a Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob, por cuanto no fueron perfectos en pos de mí;

12 s ave Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; for they have wholly followed Jehovah.

excepto Caleb, hijo de Jefone cenezeo, y Josué hijo de Nun, que fueron perfectos en pos del SEÑOR.

13 A nd Jehovah's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation was consumed that had done evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

Y el furor del SEÑOR se encendió en Israel, y los hizo andar errantes cuarenta años por el desierto, hasta que fue acabada toda aquella generación, que había hecho mal delante del SEÑOR.

14 A nd behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, a progeny of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel.

Y he aquí, vosotros habéis levantado en lugar de vuestros padres, prole de hombres pecadores, para añadir aún a la ira del SEÑOR contra Israel.

15 I f ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.

Si os volviereis de en pos de él, él volverá otra vez a dejaros en el desierto, y echaréis a perder a todo este pueblo.

16 A nd they drew near to him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones;

¶ Entonces ellos vinieron a él y dijeron: Edificaremos aquí majadas para nuestro ganado, y ciudades para nuestros niños;

17 b ut we ourselves will go with diligence armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones shall dwell in the strong cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

y nosotros nos armaremos, e iremos con diligencia delante de los hijos de Israel, hasta que los metamos en su lugar; y nuestros niños quedarán en ciudades fuertes a causa de los moradores de la tierra.

18 W e will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited each one his inheritance.

No volveremos a nuestras casas hasta que los hijos de Israel posean cada uno su heredad.

19 F or we will not inherit with them on yonder side the Jordan, and further, because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side the Jordan eastward.

Porque no tomaremos heredad con ellos al otro lado del Jordán ni adelante, por cuanto tendremos ya nuestra heredad de este lado del Jordán al oriente.

20 A nd Moses said to them, If ye do this thing, if ye arm yourselves before Jehovah for war,

Entonces les respondió Moisés: Si lo hiciereis así, si os apercibiereis para ir delante del SEÑOR a la guerra,

21 a nd all of you that are armed go over the Jordan before Jehovah, until he have dispossessed his enemies from before him,

y pasaréis todos vosotros armados el Jordán delante del SEÑOR, hasta que haya echado a sus enemigos de delante de sí,

22 a nd the land is subdued before Jehovah, and afterwards ye return, ye shall be guiltless toward Jehovah and toward Israel, and this land shall be your possession before Jehovah.

y que la tierra sea sojuzgada delante del SEÑOR; luego volveréis, y seréis sin culpa para con el SEÑOR, y para con Israel; y esta tierra será vuestra en heredad delante del SEÑOR.

23 B ut if ye do not do so, behold, ye have sinned against Jehovah, and be sure your sin will find you out.

Mas si así no lo hiciereis, he aquí habréis pecado ante el SEÑOR; y sabed que vuestro pecado os alcanzará.

24 B uild yourselves cities for your little ones, and folds for your flocks, and do that which has gone out of your mouth.

Edificaos ciudades para vuestros niños, y majadas para vuestras ovejas, y haced lo que ha salido de vuestra boca.

25 A nd the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commands.

Y hablaron los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén a Moisés, diciendo: Tus siervos harán como mi señor ha mandado.

26 O ur little ones, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts shall be there in the cities of Gilead;

Nuestros niños, nuestras mujeres, nuestros ganados, y todas nuestras bestias, estarán ahí en las ciudades de Galaad;

27 b ut thy servants will pass over, every one armed for war, before Jehovah to battle, as my lord says.

y tus siervos, armados todos de guerra, pasarán delante del SEÑOR a la guerra, de la manera que nuestro señor dice.

28 S o concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel.

¶ Entonces los encomendó Moisés a Eleazar el sacerdote, y a Josué hijo de Nun, y a los príncipes de los padres de las tribus de los hijos de Israel.

29 A nd Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben pass with you over the Jordan, every one armed for battle, before Jehovah, and the land be subdued before you, then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;

Y les dijo Moisés: Si los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén, pasaren con vosotros el Jordán, armados todos de guerra delante del SEÑOR, luego que la tierra fuere sojuzgada delante de vosotros, les daréis la tierra de Galaad en posesión.

30 b ut if they do not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.

Mas si no pasaren armados con vosotros, entonces tendrán posesión entre vosotros en la tierra de Canaán.

31 A nd the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As Jehovah has said to thy servants, so will we do.

Y los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Rubén respondieron, diciendo: Haremos lo que el SEÑOR ha dicho a tus siervos.

32 W e will pass over armed before Jehovah into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance on this side the Jordan shall be ours.

Nosotros pasaremos armados delante del SEÑOR a la tierra de Canaán, y la posesión de nuestra heredad será de este lado del Jordán.

33 A nd Moses gave to them, to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og the king of Bashan, the land, according to its cities and territories, the cities of the land round about.

Así les dio Moisés a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Rubén, y a la media tribu de Manasés hijo de José, el reino de Sehón rey amorreo, y el reino de Og rey de Basán, la tierra con sus ciudades y términos, las ciudades de la tierra alrededor.

34 A nd the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,

Y los hijos de Gad edificaron Dibón, Atarot, Aroer,

35 a nd Atroth-Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbebah,

Atarot-sofán, Jazer, Jogbeha,

36 a nd Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-haran, strong cities, and sheepfolds.

Bet-nimra, y a Bet-arán, ciudades fuertes, y también majadas para ovejas.

37 — And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elaleh, and Kirjathaim,

Y los hijos de Rubén edificaron Hesbón, Eleale, Quiriataim,

38 a nd Nebo, and Baal-meon (of which the names were changed), and Sibmah; and they gave other names to the cities that they built.

Nebo, Baal-meón, (mudados los nombres), y a Sibma, y pusieron nombres a las ciudades que edificaron.

39 — And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and they dispossessed the Amorites that were therein.

Y los hijos de Maquir hijo de Manasés fueron a Galaad, y la tomaron, y echaron al amorreo que estaba en ella.

40 A nd Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.

Y Moisés dio Galaad a Maquir hijo de Manasés, el cual habitó en ella.

41 A nd Jair the son of Manasseh went and took their hamlets, and called them Havoth-Jair.

También Jair hijo de Manasés fue y tomó sus aldeas, y les puso por nombre Havot-jair.

42 A nd Nobah went and took Kenath, and its dependent villages, and called it Nobah, after his name.

Asimismo Noba fue y tomó a Kenat y sus aldeas, y lo llamó Noba, conforme a su nombre.
