1 A nd Job answered and said,

Тогда Иов ответил:

2 H ear attentively my speech, and let this replace your consolations.

– Внимательно выслушайте меня; пусть это и будет от вас утешением.

3 S uffer me and I will speak; and after I have spoken, mock on!

Потерпите, пока я говорю, а когда умолкну, можете насмехаться.

4 A s for me, is my complaint to a man? or wherefore should not my spirit be impatient?

Разве я жалуюсь человеку? Разве у меня нет причин быть нетерпеливым?

5 M ark me, and be astonished, and lay the hand upon the mouth.

Посмотрев на меня, ужаснитесь; положите ладонь на уста.

6 E ven when I think, I am affrighted, and trembling taketh hold of my flesh.

Размышляя об этом, я содрогаюсь, мое тело бросает в дрожь. Иов утверждает, что нечестивые счастливы

7 W herefore do the wicked live, grow old, yea, become mighty in power?

Почему нечестивые живут, достигая старости и возрастая силой?

8 T heir seed is established with them in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.

Их дети вокруг них, их потомство – у них на глазах.

9 T heir houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of +God upon them.

Их дома в безопасности и страха не ведают, и жезла Божьего нет на них.

10 T heir bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

Их бык оплодотворяет и не извергает, их корова телится и не выкидывает.

11 T hey send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

Они высылают детей, как стадо, и чада их танцуют.

12 T hey shout to the tambour and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

Они поют под бубен и арфу. веселятся под пение свирели.

13 T hey spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment go down to Sheol.

Они проводят дни в благополучии, и спокойно нисходят в мир мертвых.

14 A nd they say unto God, Depart from us, for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways!

А Богу они говорят: «Оставь нас! Мы не хотим знать Твои пути.

15 W hat is the Almighty that we should serve him? and what are we profited if we pray unto him?

Кто такой Всемогущий, чтобы нам служить Ему? Что пользы нам Ему молиться?»

16 B ehold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked be far from me!

Но благополучие их не в их руках; умысел злых далек от меня.

17 H ow often is the lamp of the wicked put out, and cometh their calamity upon them? Doth he distribute sorrows in his anger?

Но часто ли гаснет светильник нечестивых? Часто ли к ним приходит беда, удел, каким Бог наделяет в гневе?

18 D o they become as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away?

Часто ли они уподобляются соломе на ветру, мякине, гонимой вихрем?

19 + God layeth up his iniquity for his children; he rewardeth him, and he shall know:

Вы говорите: «Бог приберегает наказание для их сыновей». Пусть Он воздаст им самим, чтобы впредь они знали!

20 H is eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the fury of the Almighty.

Пусть своими глазами увидят гибель, пусть пьют гнев Всемогущего.

21 F or what pleasure should he have in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

Что за дело им до семьи, остающейся после них, когда срок их жизни истечет?

22 C an any teach God knowledge? And he it is that judgeth those that are high.

Может ли кто-нибудь преподать Богу знание, Тому, Кто судит даже вышних?

23 O ne dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;

Один умирает в расцвете сил, в безопасности и покое,

24 H is sides are full of fat, and the marrow of his bones is moistened;

его тело дородно, кости мозгом напоены.

25 A nd another dieth in bitterness of soul, and hath not tasted good:

А другой умирает, скорбя душой, не вкусив от жизни ни капли блага.

26 T ogether they lie down in the dust, and the worms cover them.

И вместе будут лежать они в прахе, и облепят их черви.

27 L o, I know your thoughts, and the devices ye wrongfully imagine against me.

Да, я знаю ваши мысли, и ваши уловки против меня.

28 F or ye say, Where is the house of the noble? and where the tent of the dwellings of the wicked?

Вы говорите: «Где теперь дом вельможи и шатры, в которых жили нечестивые?»

29 H ave ye not asked the wayfarers? and do ye not regard their tokens:

Разве вы не расспрашивали путешественников, и рассказам их не внимали,

30 T hat the wicked is reserved for the day of calamity? They are led forth to the day of wrath.

как щадит нечестивого день беды, как день гнева его стороной обходит?

31 W ho shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

Кто его осудит ему в лицо? Кто воздаст ему за его дела?

32 Y et is he carried to the graves, and watch is kept over the tomb.

С почетом несут его хоронить и стражу возле могилы ставят.

33 T he clods of the valley are sweet unto him; and every man followeth suit after him, as there were innumerable before him.

Земля в долине ему сладка. Людской поток позади него, и перед ним – бесчисленная толпа.

34 H ow then comfort ye me in vain? Your answers remain perfidious.

Как же вам утешить меня пустым? От ваших ответов лишь ложь осталась!
