1 I n the three-and-twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, for seventeen years.

На двадцать третьем году правления иудейского царя Иоаша, сына Охозии, царем Израиля стал Иоахаз, сын Ииуя, и правил в Самарии семнадцать лет.

2 A nd he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin; he departed not from them.

Он делал зло в глазах Господа, следуя грехам Иеровоама, сына Навата, к которым тот склонил Израиль, и не отворачивался от них.

3 A nd the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad the son of Hazael, all those days.

Гнев Господа вспыхнул на Израиль, и долгое время Он держал их во власти Хазаила, царя Арама, и его сына Венадада.

4 ( And Jehoahaz besought Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

Но Иоахаз взмолился Господу, и Господь услышал его, ведь Он видел, как жестоко царь Арама притесняет Израиль.

5 A nd Jehovah gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before.

Господь дал Израилю избавителя, и они вышли из-под власти Арама. Израильтяне стали мирно жить в домах, как и прежде.

6 N evertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin: they walked therein; and there remained also the Asherah in Samaria.)

И все же они не отвернулись от грехов дома Иеровоама, к которым тот склонил Израиль, но оставались в них. Да и столб Ашеры продолжал стоять в Самарии.

7 F or he had left of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

От войска Иоахаза не осталось ничего, кроме пятидесяти всадников, десяти колесниц и десяти тысяч пеших воинов, потому что царь Арама истребил остальных, уподобив их пыли во время молотьбы.

8 A nd the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Что же до прочих событий правления Иоахаза, всего, что он сделал, и о его доблести, то разве не записаны они в «Книге летописей царей Израиля»?

9 A nd Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria; and Joash his son reigned in his stead.

Иоахаз упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен в Самарии. А Иоаш, его сын, стал царем вместо него. Иоаш − царь Израиля

10 I n the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, for sixteen years.

На тридцать седьмом году правления Иоаша, царя Иудеи, царем Израиля стал Иоаш, сын Иоахаза, и правил в Самарии шестнадцать лет.

11 A nd he did evil in the sight of Jehovah; he departed not from any of the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin: he walked therein.

Он делал зло в глазах Господа и не отвернулся ни от одного из грехов Иеровоама, сына Навата, к которым тот склонил Израиль; он оставался в них.

12 A nd the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Что же до прочих событий правления Иоаша, всего, что он сделал, и о доблести, с которой он воевал против Амасии, царя Иудеи, то разве не записаны они в «Книге летописей царей Израиля»?

13 A nd Joash slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his throne; and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

Иоаш упокоился со своими предками, и Иеровоам сменил его на престоле. Иоаш был похоронен в Самарии с царями Израиля. Смерть Елисея

14 A nd Elisha fell sick of his sickness in which he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, My father, my father! the chariot of Israel and the horsemen thereof!

Елисей был смертельно болен. Иоаш, царь Израиля, пришел навестить его и плакал над ним. – Отец мой! Отец мой! Колесница и конница Израиля! – восклицал он.

15 A nd Elisha said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took a bow and arrows.

Елисей сказал: – Достань лук и стрелы. И он сделал это.

16 A nd he said to the king of Israel, Put thy hand upon the bow. And he put his hand; and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands,

– Возьми лук в руки, – сказал он царю Израиля. Когда тот взял лук, Елисей положил руки на руки царя Израиля.

17 a nd said, Open the window eastward. And he opened. And Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, An arrow of Jehovah's deliverance, even an arrow of deliverance from the Syrians; and thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou hast consumed.

– Открой восточное окно, – сказал он. И тот открыл его. – Стреляй! – сказал Елисей. И он выстрелил. – Господня стрела победы, стрела победы над Арамом! – сказал Елисей. − Ты будешь бить арамеев при городе Афеке, пока не разобьешь их.

18 A nd he said, Take the arrows. And he took. And he said to the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

Затем он сказал: – Возьми стрелы. И царь взял их. Елисей сказал ему: – Бей ими по земле. Он ударил три раза и остановился.

19 A nd the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then wouldest thou have smitten the Syrians till thou hadst consumed; whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

Божий человек разгневался на него и сказал: – Ты должен был бы ударить по земле пять или шесть раз, тогда ты побил бы Арама полностью. А теперь ты разобьешь ее только три раза.

20 A nd Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

Елисей умер и был похоронен. Позже разбойники из Моава повадились вторгаться в страну каждую весну.

21 A nd it came to pass as they were burying a man, that behold, they saw the band, and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha; and the man went, and touched the bones of Elisha, and he revived, and stood upon his feet.

Однажды во время похорон одного человека израильтяне увидели банду разбойников и бросили покойника в гробницу Елисея. Когда мертвое тело коснулось костей Елисея, тот человек ожил и встал на ноги. Исполнение последнего пророчества Елисея

22 A nd Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

Хазаил, царь Арама, притеснял Израиль во все дни правления Иоахаза.

23 A nd Jehovah was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and he would not destroy them, neither did he cast them from his presence up to that time.

Но Господь был милостив к ним, жалел их и заботился о них ради завета с Авраамом, Исааком и Иаковом. Он и теперь не хотел истребить их или прогнать от Себя.

24 A nd Hazael king of Syria died, and Ben-Hadad his son reigned in his stead.

Хазаил, царь Арама, умер, и его сын Венадад стал царем вместо него.

25 A nd Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-Hadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father in the war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

И Иоаш, сын Иоахаза, отнял у Венадада, сына Хазаила, те города, которые тот отвоевал у его отца Иоахаза. Три раза Иоаш разбивал его и возвращал израильские города.
