1 T he burden of Egypt. Behold, Jehovah rideth upon a swift cloud, and cometh to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt are moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt melteth in the midst of it.

Пророчество о Египте. Вот, Господь восседает на быстром облаке и несется в Египет. Истуканы Египта пред Ним дрожат, и сердца египтян трепещут.

2 A nd I will incite the Egyptians against the Egyptians; and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

– Я подниму египтян на египтян – брат будет сражаться с братом, друг – с другом, город – с городом, царство – с царством.

3 A nd the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of it, and I will destroy the counsel thereof; and they shall seek unto the idols and unto the conjurers, and unto the necromancers, and unto the soothsayers.

Египтяне падут духом, и Я расстрою их замыслы. Они станут вопрошать идолов и духов умерших, вызывателей мертвых и чародеев.

4 A nd the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord, and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

Я предам египтян во власть жестокого господина, и безжалостный царь будет править ими, – возвещает Владыка, Господь Сил.

5 A nd the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up;

Воды реки Нила иссохнут, пересохнет русло и станет сушей.

6 a nd the rivers shall stink, and the streams of Egypt shall be diminished and drain away: the reeds and sedges shall wither.

Каналы начнут смердеть; реки Египта обмелеют и пересохнут. Выгорят и тростник, и камыш,

7 T he meadows by the Nile, on the banks of the Nile, and everything sown by the Nile, shall be dried up, be driven away, and be no.

и другие растения на берегах Нила. Всякое засеянное поле у Нила засохнет, будет развеяно и исчезнет.

8 A nd the fishers shall mourn, and all they that cast fish-hook into the Nile shall lament, and they that spread net upon the waters shall languish.

Рыбаки будут стенать, все забрасывающие в Нил крючки заплачут; бросающие в воду сети впадут в уныние.

9 A nd they that work in fine flax, and they that weave white stuffs shall be ashamed.

Обрабатывающие лен придут в отчаяние, ткачи лучших льняных полотен потеряют надежду.

10 A nd her pillars shall be broken in pieces, and all workers for hire shall be sad of soul.

Делающие одежду будут удручены, и все работающие за плату падут духом.

11 T hey are but fools, the princes of Zoan, the wise counsellors of Pharaoh: counsel is become senseless. How say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

Совсем обезумели правители Цоана; мудрые советники фараона подают глупый совет. Как вы скажете фараону: «Я один из мудрецов, настолько мудрый, как древние цари»?

12 W here are they then, thy wise ? Let them now tell thee, and let them make known what Jehovah of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

Где теперь твои мудрецы? Пусть покажут тебе, пусть откроют, что Господь Сил замыслил против Египта.

13 T he princes of Zoan are become foolish, the princes of Noph are deceived; and the corner-stones of its tribes have caused Egypt to err.

Обезумели правители Цоана, в заблуждении правители Мемфиса; главы Египта сбили его с пути.

14 J ehovah hath mingled a spirit of perverseness in the midst thereof; and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunkard staggereth in his vomit.

Господь излил на них дух замешательства; они совращают Египет во всех его делах: шатается он, как пьяный, ходящий по собственной блевоте.

15 N either shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, palm-branch or rush, may do.

Ни голова, ни хвост, ни ветвь пальмы, ни тростник ничего для Египта не могут сделать.

16 I n that day shall Egypt be like unto women; and it shall tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Jehovah of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

В тот день египтяне станут как женщины – задрожат они от страха перед поднятой рукой Господа Сил.

17 A nd the land of Judah shall be a dismay unto Egypt: every one that thinketh of it shall be afraid for himself, because of the counsel of Jehovah of hosts, which he hath purposed against it.

Иудейская земля наведет на египтян ужас. Всякий, при ком упомянут об Иудее, испугается из-за замысла, который вынашивает против них Господь Сил.

18 I n that day shall there be five cities in the land of Egypt speaking the language of Canaan, and swearing by Jehovah of hosts: one shall be called, The city of Heres.

В тот день пять египетских городов будут говорить на языке Ханаана и клясться в верности Господу Сил. Один из них будет назван Городом Солнца.

19 I n that day shall there be an altar to Jehovah in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to Jehovah:

В тот день жертвенник Господу будет посередине Египта, и памятный знак Господу – на его границе.

20 a nd it shall be for a sign and for a witness to Jehovah of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto Jehovah because of the oppressors, and he will send them a saviour and defender, who shall deliver them.

Это будет знамением и свидетельством о Господе Сил в земле Египта. Когда они воззовут к Господу из-за своих притеснителей, Он пошлет им спасителя, который их защитит и избавит.

21 A nd Jehovah shall be known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall know Jehovah in that day, and shall serve with sacrifice and oblation; and they shall vow a vow unto Jehovah, and perform it.

Так Господь откроется египтянам, и в тот день они познают Господа. Они станут поклоняться, принося жертвы и хлебные приношения; они станут давать Господу обеты и исполнять их.

22 A nd Jehovah will smite Egypt; he will smite and heal: and they shall return to Jehovah, and he will be entreated of them, and will heal them.

Господь поразит Египет, поразит их и исцелит. Они обратятся к Господу, и Он ответит на их мольбу и исцелит их.

23 I n that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria; and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria; and Egypt shall serve with Assyria.

В тот день будет широкая дорога из Египта в Ассирию. Ассирийцы будут ходить в Египет, а египтяне в Ассирию, и египтяне с ассирийцами будут поклоняться вместе.

24 I n that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth;

В тот день Израиль будет третьим, вместе с Египтом и Ассирией, благословением для земли.

25 w hom Jehovah of hosts will bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance!

Господь Сил благословит их, сказав: «Благословен Египет – Мой народ, Ассирия – дело Моих рук и Израиль – Мое наследие».
