1 S end the lamb of the ruler of the land from the rock to the wilderness,—unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.

2 A nd it shall be as a wandering bird, a scattered nest, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of the Arnon.

Как бьющая крыльями птица, выброшенная из гнезда – женщины-моавитянки у бродов Арнона.

3 B ring in counsel, execute justice; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of noonday; hide the outcasts, discover not the fugitive.

– Дай нам совет, прими решение. Сделай в полдень тень свою ночи подобной. Спрячь изгнанников, не выдавай скитальцев.

4 L et mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the waster. For the extortioner is at an end, the wasting hath ceased, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

Дай моавским изгнанникам остаться у тебя; стань им убежищем от губителя. Когда притеснителю придет конец, прекратится опустошение и в стране сгинут расхитители.

5 A nd a throne shall be established in mercy: and in the tent of David there shall sit upon it, in truth, one judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.

Тогда верностью утвердится престол в шатре Давида, и воссядет на него в истине правитель, ищущий справедливость, спешащий творить праведность.

6 W e have heard of the arrogance of Moab,— very proud,—of his pride, and his arrogance, and his wrath: his pratings are vain.

Слышали мы о гордости Моава, о его непомерной гордости и тщеславии, о гордости его и о наглости, – но пуста его похвальба.

7 T herefore shall Moab howl for Moab; every one of them shall howl. For the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn, verily afflicted.

Поэтому плачут моавитяне, все вместе оплакивают Моав. Плачьте, сраженные горем, вспоминая прекрасные лепешки с изюмом из Кир-Харесета.

8 F or the fields of Heshbon languish, the vine of Sibmah; the lords of the nations have broken down its choice plants: they reached unto Jaazer, they wandered the wilderness; its shoots stretched out, they went beyond the sea.

Поля Хешбона засохли и виноградные лозы Сивмы. Вожди народов растоптали лучшие лозы, что тянулись некогда до Иазера, простирались к пустыне. Побеги их расширялись и достигали моря.

9 T herefore I will weep with the weeping of Jaazer for the vine of Sibmah; with my tears will I water thee, Heshbon, and Elealeh, for a cry is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy harvest.

И я плачу, как плачет Иазер, о лозах Сивмы. О, Хешбон и Елеала, орошу вас слезами! Над твоими созревшими плодами, над твоим поспевшим зерном стихли радости крики.

10 A nd joy and gladness is taken away out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there is no singing, neither is there shouting: the treaders tread out no wine in the presses, I have made the cry to cease.

Веселье и радость ушли из садов, никто не поет, не шумит в виноградниках и в давильнях не топчет вино, и радости шумной положен конец.

11 T herefore my bowels sound like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirheres.

Плачет сердце мое о Моаве, как арфа, и душа – о Кир-Харесете.

12 A nd it shall come to pass, when Moab shall appear, shall weary himself on the high place, and enter into his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail.

Если Моав явится и станет изводить себя в капище, если он придет на возвышенности в свое святилище молиться – прока не будет.

13 T his is the word which Jehovah hath spoken from of old concerning Moab.

Таково слово, которое Господь сказал о Моаве в прошлом.

14 A nd now Jehovah speaketh saying, Within three years, as the years of a hired servant, and the glory of Moab shall be brought to nothing, with all that great multitude; and the remnant shall be small, few, of no account.

Но теперь Господь говорит: – Точно через три года, как если бы батрак считал свой срок работы, слава Моава и все множество его народа погибнут, а уцелевшие будут малочисленны и слабы.
