1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer as to my reproof.

Я встану на стражу, поднимусь на крепостные валы. Буду ждать, что Он скажет, и что мне отвечать по жалобе моей. Ответ Бога

2 A nd Jehovah answered me and said, Write the vision, and engrave it upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it.

Тогда Господь ответил: – Запиши откровение, выведи на табличках, чтобы его повсюду прочитал вестник.

3 F or the vision is yet for an appointed time, but it hasteth to the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; for it will surely come, it will not delay.

Ведь еще не время ему исполниться, оно говорит о конце и не обманет. Если покажется, что медлит – жди: оно сбудется, не задержится.

4 B ehold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright within him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Посмотри на надменных: их дух не праведен – а праведный верой жив будет.

5 A nd moreover, the wine is treacherous: he is a proud man, and keepeth not at rest, he enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is like death and cannot be satisfied; and he assembleth unto him all nations, and gathereth unto him all peoples.

Вино обманывает этих гордецов и не дает им покоя. Они разверзают пасть, как мир мертвых, и, как смерть, они ненасытны. Они покоряют себе все народы, все племена подчиняют.

6 S hall not all these take up a proverb about him, and a taunting riddle against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long?—and to him that loadeth himself with pledges!

Но все их пленники будут насмехаться над ними и глумиться поговорками, говоря: «Горе тому, кто копит чужое добро, кто богатеет на взятом в долг! Надолго ли это?»

7 S hall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and they awake up that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them?

Не поднимутся ли нежданно твои заимодавцы, не проснутся ли те, кто тебя трепетать заставит? Ты станешь для них добычей.

8 B ecause thou hast plundered many nations, all the rest of the peoples shall plunder thee; because of men's blood, and for the violence to the land, to the city, and all that dwell therein.

За то, что ограбил ты много народов, те из них, что остались, тебя ограбят, – потому что ты проливал кровь, совершал насилие на земле, в городах и над всеми их жителями.

9 W oe to him that getteth iniquitous gain to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the grasp of evil!

Горе тому, кто наполняет свой дом неправедной поживой, чтобы устроить свое гнездо на высоте и избежать когтей несчастья!

10 T hou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and hast sinned against thine own soul.

Ты свой дом опозорил, погубив многочисленные народы; ты расплатишься за это жизнью.

11 F or the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.

Сами камни из стен будут кричать, деревянные балки – им отвечать.

12 W oe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and establisheth a city by unrighteousness!

Горе тому, кто строит город на крови, созидает город на преступлении.

13 B ehold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labour for the fire, and the nations weary themselves in vain?

Разве не Господь Сил решил, что труды людей – лишь пища для огня, что народы изнуряют себя напрасно?

14 F or the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea.

Ведь земля исполнится познанием славы Господа, как вода наполняет море.

15 W oe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink,—that pourest out thy flask, and makest drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

Горе тому, кто спаивает ближних, наливая из бурдюков, пока те не опьянеют, чтобы после смотреть на их наготу.

16 T hou art filled with shame instead of glory; drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of Jehovah's right hand shall be turned unto thee, and a shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.

Ты бесчестием, не славой, сыт; напейся теперь сам и покажи свою наготу! Чаша из правой руки Господней дойдет и до тебя, и позор затмит твою славу.

17 F or the violence to Lebanon shall cover thee, and the destruction of beasts which made them afraid; because of men's blood, and for the violence to the land, to the city, and all that dwell therein.

Злодейство твое на Ливане погубит тебя, бойня зверей, учиненная тобой, тебя же и ужаснет. Ты проливал человеческую кровь, совершал насилие на земле, в городах и над всеми, кто живет в них.

18 W hat profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it? the molten image, and the teacher of falsehood, that the maker of his work dependeth thereon, to make dumb idols?

Что за польза от идола, которого сделал ремесленник, от литой статуи, что учит только лжи? Верит мастер изделию своему, а оно – лишь немой идол.

19 W oe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake! to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall it teach? Behold it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

Горе тому, кто говорит дереву: «Оживи!», безмолвному камню – «Пробудись!» Научит ли он? И хотя он отделан золотом и серебром – в нем нет дыхания.

20 B ut Jehovah is in his holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before him!

А Господь – в святом храме Своем; пусть молчит вся земля перед Ним.
