1 A nd Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

Иосиф припал к отцу, заплакал над ним и поцеловал его.

2 A nd Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. And the physicians embalmed Israel.

Он приказал своим рабам-врачам набальзамировать тело отца, и врачи набальзамировали Израиля.

3 A nd forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those who are embalmed. And the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.

У них ушло на это сорок дней, потому что таков полный срок бальзамирования. И египтяне оплакивали его семьдесят дней.

4 A nd when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found favour in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

Когда прошли дни плача, Иосиф сказал придворным фараона: – Если я нашел расположение в ваших глазах, попросите за меня фараона, скажите ему:

5 M y father made me swear, saying, Behold, I die; in my grave which I have dug myself in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. And now, let me go up, I pray thee, that I may bury my father; and I will come again.

«Мой отец велел мне дать клятву и сказал: “Я умираю; похорони меня в могиле, которую я выкопал себе в земле Ханаана“. Позволь же мне пойти и похоронить моего отца. После этого я вернусь».

6 A nd Pharaoh said, Go up and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.

Фараон сказал: – Иди и похорони отца так, как ты поклялся по его велению.

7 A nd Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the bondmen of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

Иосиф пошел хоронить отца и с ним пошли все придворные фараона, старейшины двора и все старейшины Египта,

8 a nd all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house; only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

и весь дом Иосифа, и его братья, и весь дом его отца. Только их дети и стада крупного и мелкого скота остались в Гошене.

9 A nd there went up with him both chariots and horsemen; and the camp was very great.

Их сопровождали колесницы и всадники; это была великая процессия.

10 A nd they came to the threshing-floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan; and there they lamented with a great and very grievous lamentation; and he made a mourning for his father of seven days.

Они пришли к гумну Атада, что за Иорданом, и там стали громко и горько плакать. Там Иосиф семь дней оплакивал отца.

11 A nd the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning at the threshing-floor of Atad, and they said, This is a grievous mourning of the Egyptians. Therefore the name of it was called Abel-Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.

Когда хананеи, обитатели той земли, увидели плач у гумна Атада, они сказали: «У египтян великий плач и горе». Вот почему то место рядом с Иорданом называется Авель-Мицраим.

12 A nd his sons did to him according as he had commanded them;

Так сыновья Иакова исполнили его наказ:

13 a nd his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah which Abraham had bought along with the field, for a possession of a sepulchre, of Ephron the Hittite, opposite to Mamre.

они отнесли его в землю Ханаана и похоронили в пещере на поле Махпела, рядом с Мамре; эту пещеру Авраам купил у хетта Эфрона вместе с полем, чтобы было у него место для погребения.

14 A nd, after he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt, he and his brethren, and all that had gone up with him to bury his father.

Похоронив отца, Иосиф возвратился в Египет, вместе с братьями и всеми, кто ходил с ним хоронить отца. Иосиф прощает братьев

15 A nd when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, If now Joseph should be hostile to us, and should indeed requite us all the evil that we did to him!

Когда отец умер, братья Иосифа подумали: «Что, если Иосиф таит на нас злобу и теперь отплатит нам за все зло, которое мы ему причинили?»

16 A nd they sent a messenger to Joseph, saying, Thy father commanded before he died, saying,

И они послали к Иосифу сказать: – Перед смертью отец оставил такие наставления:

17 T hus shall ye speak to Joseph: Oh forgive, I pray thee, the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin! for they did evil to thee. And now, we pray thee, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

«Вот что вы должны сказать вашему брату Иосифу: “Я прошу тебя простить твоим братьям их вину и грехи, которые они совершили, поступив с тобой так скверно. И теперь, пожалуйста, прости грехи рабов Бога твоего отца”». Получив это послание, Иосиф заплакал.

18 A nd his brethren also went and fell down before his face, and said, Behold, we are thy bondmen.

Его братья пришли, пали перед ним на землю и сказали: – Мы – твои рабы.

19 A nd Joseph said to them, Fear not: am I then in the place of God?

Иосиф ответил: – Не бойтесь. Разве я Бог?

20 Y e indeed meant evil against me: God meant it for good, in order that he might do as this day, to save a great people alive.

Вы замыслили против меня зло, но Бог обратил его ко благу, чтобы совершить то, что происходит теперь: спасение многих жизней.

21 A nd now, fear not: I will maintain you and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke consolingly to them.

Поэтому не бойтесь: я прокормлю и вас, и ваших детей. Он успокоил их и говорил с ними ласково. Смерть Иосифа

22 A nd Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he and his father's house; and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.

Иосиф жил в Египте вместе с семьей отца, и прожил сто десять лет.

23 A nd Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third; the sons also of Machir the son of Manasseh were born on Joseph's knees.

Он застал еще третье поколение детей Ефрема; и детей Махира, сына Манассии, тоже положили при рождении на колени Иосифа.

24 A nd Joseph said to his brethren, I die; and God will certainly visit you, and bring you up out of this land, into the land that he swore unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Иосиф сказал братьям: – Я умираю, но Бог непременно придет к вам на помощь и выведет вас из этой земли в землю, которую Он с клятвой обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову.

25 A nd Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will certainly visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones hence.

Иосиф велел сыновьям Израиля дать клятву и сказал: – Бог непременно придет к вам на помощь, и тогда вы должны вынести мои кости отсюда.

26 A nd Joseph died, a hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him; and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

Иосиф умер в возрасте ста десяти лет, и его набальзамировали и положили в гроб в Египте.
