1 A nd after this it came to pass that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them; and David took the power of the capital out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 A nd he smote the Moabites, and measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became David's servants, brought gifts.

Еще Давид разбил моавитян. Он положил их на землю и отмерил их веревкой. Каждые две веревки были преданы смерти, а третьей была оставлена жизнь. Так моавитяне стали у Давида рабами, платящими дань.

3 A nd David smote Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion by the river Euphrates.

Еще Давид разбил Ададезера, сына Рехова, царя Цовы, когда тот шел, чтобы восстановить свою власть у реки Евфрата.

4 A nd David took from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David houghed all the chariot, but reserved of them a hundred chariots.

Давид захватил тысячу семьсот всадников и двадцать тысяч пеших воинов. Он подрезал сухожилия всем колесничным коням, оставив из них лишь сотню.

5 A nd the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David smote of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.

Когда на помощь Ададезеру, царю Цовы, пришли арамеи из Дамаска, Давид поразил из них двадцать две тысячи человек.

6 A nd David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, brought gifts. And Jehovah preserved David whithersoever he went.

Он разместил войска в царстве дамасских арамеев, и арамеи стали его рабами и платили ему дань. Господь давал Давиду победу, куда бы он ни ходил.

7 A nd David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

Давид взял золотые щиты, которые принадлежали приближенным Ададезера, и принес их в Иерусалим.

8 A nd from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much bronze.

А из Теваха и Беротая, городов, принадлежавших Ададезеру, царь Давид взял очень много бронзы.

9 A nd Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the forces of Hadadezer;

Когда Фой, царь Хамата, услышал, что Давид разбил все войско Ададезера,

10 a nd Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him; for Hadadezer was continually at war with Toi. And he brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze.

он послал к царю Давиду своего сына Иорама, чтобы приветствовать его и поздравить с победой над Ададезером, который вел с Фоем войну. Иорам привез с собой изделия из серебра, золота и бронзы.

11 T hem also king David dedicated to Jehovah, with the silver and the gold that he had dedicated of all the nations that he had subdued:

Царь Давид посвятил и эти изделия Господу, вместе с серебром и золотом, взятым у всех народов, которые он покорил:

12 o f the Syrians, and of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of the Amalekites, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

у Эдома и Моава, аммонитян и филистимлян, и Амалика. Еще он посвятил добычу, взятую у Ададезера, царя Цовы, сына Рехова.

13 A nd David made him a name when he returned, after he had smitten the Syrians in the valley of salt, eighteen thousand.

Давид прославился после того, как перебил восемнадцать тысяч эдомитян в Соляной долине.

14 A nd he put garrisons in Edom: throughout Edom did he put garrisons; and all they of Edom became servants to David. And Jehovah preserved David whithersoever he went.

Он поставил войска по всему Эдому, и все эдомитяне стали его рабами. Господь давал Давиду победу, куда бы он ни ходил. Приближенные Давида (2 Цар. 20: 23-26; 1 Пар. 18: 14-17)

15 A nd David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice to all his people.

Давид правил всем Израилем, верша суд и правду для всего своего народа.

16 A nd Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was chronicler;

Иоав, сын Саруи, был начальником войска; Иосафат, сын Ахилуда, был летописцем;

17 a nd Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was scribe;

Цадок, сын Ахитува, и Ахимелех, сын Авиатара, были священниками; Серая был писарем;

18 a nd Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.

Ванея, сын Иодая, был над керетитами и пелетитами; а сыновья Давида были первыми при дворе.
