1 A nd Sarai Abram's wife did not bear him. And she had an Egyptian maidservant; and her name was Hagar.

Сара, жена Аврама, не рожала ему детей. У нее была служанка из Египта по имени Агарь.

2 A nd Sarai said to Abram, Behold now, Jehovah has shut me up, that I do not bear. Go in, I pray thee, to my maidservant: it may be that I shall be built up by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

Сара сказала Авраму: – Господь не дал мне детей. Иди, ляг со служанкой: может быть, через нее у меня будут дети. Аврам согласился с Сарой.

3 A nd Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar, the Egyptian, her maidservant, at the end of ten years that Abram had dwelt in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram, as his wife.

И вот, когда Аврам прожил в Ханаане десять лет, Сара, его жена, взяла свою служанку, египтянку Агарь, и отдала в жены своему мужу.

4 A nd he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was lightly esteemed in her eyes.

Он лег с Агарью, и она забеременела. Узнав, что беременна, Агарь начала презирать свою госпожу.

5 A nd Sarai said to Abram, My wrong be on thee! I have given my maidservant into thy bosom; and now she sees that she has conceived, I am lightly esteemed in her eyes. Jehovah judge between me and thee!

Тогда Сара сказала Авраму: – Ты в ответе за то, что я терплю обиду. Я отдала служанку тебе на ложе, а теперь она знает, что беременна, и презирает меня. Пусть нас с тобой рассудит Господь.

6 A nd Abram said to Sarai, Behold, thy maidservant is in thy hand: do to her what is good in thine eyes. And Sarai oppressed her; and she fled from her face.

– Твоя служанка в твоих руках, – сказал Аврам. – Делай с ней все, что хочешь. Тогда Сара стала так притеснять Агарь, что та убежала от нее.

7 A nd the Angel of Jehovah found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.

Ангел Господень нашел Агарь в пустыне, неподалеку от источника; этот источник был рядом с дорогой к Суру.

8 A nd he said, Hagar, Sarai's maidservant, whence comest thou? and whither art thou going? And she said, I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.

Он спросил: – Агарь, служанка Сары, откуда ты пришла и куда идешь? – Я бегу от моей госпожи Сары, – ответила она.

9 A nd the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

Тогда Ангел Господень сказал ей: – Возвратись к своей госпоже и покорись ей.

10 A nd the Angel of Jehovah said to her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

Еще Ангел Господень сказал ей: – Я так умножу твоих потомков, что их невозможно будет сосчитать.

11 A nd the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael, because Jehovah hath hearkened to thy affliction.

Еще Ангел Господень сказал ей: – Ты теперь беременна и родишь сына. Назови его Измаил, потому что Господь услышал о твоем страдании.

12 A nd he will be a wild-ass of a man, his hand against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell before the face of all his brethren.

Он будет подобен дикому ослу: его руки будут против всех, и руки всех будут против него, он будет жить во вражде со всеми своими братьями.

13 A nd she called the name of Jehovah who spoke to her, Thou art the God who reveals himself, for she said, Also here have I seen after he has revealed himself.

Господу, Который говорил с ней, она дала имя: «Бог, видящий меня », – потому что она сказала: – Сейчас я видела Того, Кто видит меня.

14 T herefore the well was named Beer-lahai-roi: behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

Вот почему тот колодец был назван Беэр-лахай-рои; он и сейчас там, между Кадешем и Бередом.

15 A nd Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of his son whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.

Агарь родила Авраму сына, и Аврам дал сыну, которого она родила, имя Измаил.

16 A nd Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.

Авраму было восемьдесят шесть лет, когда Агарь родила ему Измаила.
