1 A nd Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

Иосафат упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен с ними в Городе Давида. Иорам, его сын, стал царем вместо него.

2 A nd he had brethren, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

У Иорама были братья, сыновья Иосафата: Азария, Иехиил, Захария, Азария, Михаил и Шефатия. Все они были сыновьями Иосафата, царя Израиля.

3 A nd their father had given them great gifts of silver and of gold and of precious things, besides fortified cities in Judah; but the kingdom he gave to Jehoram, for he was the firstborn.

Их отец дал им в подарок много золота, серебра и дорогих вещей вместе с укрепленными городами в Иудее, но царство он отдал Иораму, потому что тот был его первенцем. Иорам – царь Иудеи (4 Цар. 8: 16-24)

4 A nd Jehoram established himself over the kingdom of his father, and strengthened himself; and he slew all his brethren with the sword, and also of the princes of Israel.

Когда Иорам прочно утвердился над царством своего отца, он предал мечу всех своих братьев вместе с некоторыми из вождей Израиля.

5 J ehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

Иораму было тридцать два года, когда он стал царем, и правил он в Иерусалиме восемь лет.

6 A nd he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the sight of Jehovah.

Он ходил путем царей Израиля, по примеру дома Ахава, потому что женился на дочери Ахава. Он делал зло в глазах Господа.

7 B ut Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he had promised to give to him always a lamp, and to his sons.

Но ради завета, который Господь заключил с Давидом, Господь не хотел погубить дом Давида. Он обещал сохранить светильник ему и его потомкам навеки.

8 I n his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they set a king over themselves.

Во времена Иорама Эдом восстал против власти Иудеи и поставил себе царя.

9 A nd Jehoram went over with his captains, and all the chariots with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites who had surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots.

Тогда Иорам пошел туда со своими военачальниками и всеми своими колесницами. Эдомитяне окружили его и начальников над его колесницами, но он встал ночью и пробился через кольцо врагов.

10 B ut the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken Jehovah the God of his fathers.

И до сих пор Эдом не покорен власти Иудеи. В то же время Ливна восстала против власти Иорама, потому что он оставил Господа, Бога своих отцов.

11 M oreover he made high places on the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah.

Еще он построил святилища на холмах Иудеи, ввел в распутство жителей Иерусалима и сбил Иудею с пути.

12 A nd there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father: Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Однажды к нему пришло письмо от пророка Илии, где было сказано: «Так говорит Господь, Бог твоего предка Давида: “Ты не ходил путями твоего отца Иосафата и Асы, царя Иудеи.

13 b ut hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, like the fornications of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren, thy father's house who were better than thyself:

Ты ходил путями царей Израиля и ввел Иудею и жителей Иерусалима в распутство по примеру дома Ахава. Ты убил своих братьев – дом твоего отца, – которые были лучше тебя.

14 b ehold, Jehovah will smite with a great stroke thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy substance,

И вот, Господь обрушит тяжкую кару на твой народ, твоих сыновей и жен и все, что у тебя есть.

15 a nd thyself with sore sicknesses, with a disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

А сам ты будешь страдать долгой и мучительной внутренней болезнью, пока твои внутренности не станут день за днем выпадать наружу”».

16 A nd Jehovah stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who near the Ethiopians;

Господь возбудил против Иорама вражду филистимлян и арабов, соседей кушитов.

17 a nd they came up into Judah, and broke into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was no son left him, except Jehoahaz the youngest of his sons.

Они двинулись на Иудею, вторглись в нее и захватили все добро, какое нашлось во дворце царя, вместе с его сыновьями и женами. Они не оставили ему никого из сыновей, кроме Охозии, самого младшего.

18 A nd after all this, Jehovah smote him in his bowels with an incurable sickness.

После всего этого Господь поразил Иорама неисцелимой внутренней болезнью.

19 A nd it came to pass, from day to day, and at the time when the second year was drawing to a close, that his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died in cruel sufferings. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

Со временем, на исходе второго года, его внутренности выпали наружу из-за болезни, и он умер в страшных мучениях. Народ не развел в его честь поминального костра, как это делали в память его предков.

20 H e was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being regretted. And they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.

Иораму было тридцать два года когда он стал царем, и правил он в Иерусалиме восемь лет. Он ушел никем не оплаканный и был похоронен в Городе Давида, но не в гробницах, где хоронили царей.
