1 Y luego que el muro fue edificado, y asenté las puertas, y fueron señalados porteros, cantores y levitas,

And it came to pass when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, that the doorkeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed.

2 m andé a mi hermano Hanani, y a Hananías, príncipe del palacio en Jerusalén (porque era éste, como varón de verdad y temeroso de Dios, sobre muchos);

And I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the citadel, charge over Jerusalem; for he was a faithful man and feared God above many.

3 y les dije: No se abran las puertas de Jerusalén hasta que caliente el sol; y aun con los guardas presentes, cierren las puertas, y atrancad. Y señalé guardas de los moradores de Jerusalén, cada cual en su guardia, y cada uno delante de su casa.

And I said to them that the gates of Jerusalem should not be opened until the sun was hot, and that they should shut the doors and bar them while they stood by; and that there should be appointed watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one over against his house.

4 ¶ Y la ciudad era espaciosa y grande, pero poco pueblo dentro de ella, y no había casas reedificadas.

Now the city was large and great; but the people in it were few, and no houses were built.

5 Y puso Dios en mi corazón que juntara los principales, los magistrados, y el pueblo, para que fueran empadronados por el orden de sus linajes; y hallé el libro de la genealogía de los que habían subido antes, y encontré en él escrito:

And my God put into my heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, for registration by genealogy. And I found a genealogical register of those that had come up at the first, and I found written in it:

6 E stos son los hijos de la provincia que subieron de la cautividad, de la transmigración que hizo pasar Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y que volvieron a Jerusalén y a Judá cada uno a su ciudad;

These are the children of the province that went up out of the captivity of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and who came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one to his city;

61 Y éstos son los que subieron de Tel-mela, Tel-harsa, Querub, Adón, e Imer, los cuales no pudieron mostrar la casa de sus padres, ni su linaje, si eran de Israel:

And these are they that went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub-Addon and Immer; but they could not shew their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.

The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobijah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred and forty-two.

63 Y de los sacerdotes: los hijos de Habaía, los hijos de Cos, los hijos de Barzilai, el cual tomó mujer de las hijas de Barzilai galaadita, y se llamó del nombre de ellas.

And of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called after their name.

64 E stos buscaron su registro de genealogías, y no se halló; y fueron echados del sacerdocio por contaminados.

These sought their genealogical register, but it was not found; therefore were they, as polluted, removed from the priesthood.

65 Y les dijo el Tirsata que no comieren de las cosas santísimas, hasta que hubiera sacerdote con Urim y Tumim.

And the Tirshatha said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up the priest with Urim and Thummim.

66 T oda la congregación unida como un varón era de cuarenta y dos mil trescientos sesenta,

The whole congregation together was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,

67 s in sus siervos y siervas, que eran siete mil trescientos treinta y siete; y entre ellos había doscientos cuarenta y cinco cantores y cantoras.

besides their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven; and they had two hundred and forty-five singing-men and singing-women.

68 S us caballos, setecientos treinta y seis; sus mulos, doscientos cuarenta y cinco;

Their horses were seven hundred and thirty-six; their mules, two hundred and forty-five;

69 c amellos, cuatrocientos treinta y cinco; asnos, seis mil setecientos veinte.

the camels, four hundred and thirty-five; the asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

70 Y algunos de los príncipes de las familias dieron para la obra. El Tirsata dio para el tesoro mil dracmas de oro, cincuenta tazones, y quinientas treinta vestiduras sacerdotales.

And some of the chief fathers gave to the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand darics of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' coats.

71 Y de los príncipes de las familias dieron para el tesoro de la obra, veinte mil dracmas de oro, y dos mil doscientas libras de plata.

And of the chief fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver.

72 Y lo que dio el resto del pueblo fue veinte mil dracmas de oro, y dos mil libras de plata, y sesenta y siete vestiduras sacerdotales.

And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests' coats.

73 Y habitaron los sacerdotes, los levitas, los porteros, los cantores, los del pueblo, los netineos, y todo Israel, en sus ciudades. Y venido el mes séptimo, los hijos de Israel estaban en sus ciudades.

And the priests, and the Levites, and the doorkeepers, and the singers, and of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities. And when the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in their cities,
