1 ¶ Y después de seis días, Jesús toma a Pedro, y a Jacobo, y a Juan su hermano, y los lleva aparte a un monte alto;

And after six days Jesus takes with Peter, and James, and John his brother, and brings them up into a high mountain apart.

2 Y se transfiguró delante de ellos; y resplandeció su rostro como el sol, y sus vestidos fueron blancos como la luz.

And he was transfigured before them. And his face shone as the sun, and his garments became white as the light;

3 Y he aquí les aparecieron Moisés y Elías, hablando con él.

and lo, Moses and Elias appeared to them talking with him.

4 Y respondiendo Pedro, dijo a Jesús: Señor, bien es que nos quedemos aquí; si quieres, hagamos aquí tres tabernáculos: para ti uno, y para Moisés otro, y otro para Elías.

And Peter answering said to Jesus, Lord, it is good we should be here. If thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles: for thee one, and for Moses one, and one for Elias.

5 Y estando aún él hablando, he aquí una nube de luz que los cubrió; y una voz de la nube, que dijo: Este es mi Hijo amado, en el cual tomo contentamiento; a El oíd.

While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I have found my delight: hear him.

6 Y oyendo esto los discípulos, cayeron sobre sus rostros, y temieron en gran manera.

And the disciples hearing fell upon their faces, and were greatly terrified.

7 E ntonces Jesús llegando, los tocó, y dijo: Levantaos, y no temáis.

And Jesus coming to touched them, and said, Rise up, and be not terrified.

8 Y alzando ellos sus ojos, a nadie vieron, sino a Jesús solo.

And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus alone.

9 Y como descendieron del monte, les mandó Jesús, diciendo: No digáis a nadie la visión, hasta que el Hijo del hombre resucite de los muertos.

And as they descended from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no one, until the Son of man be risen up from among dead.

10 E ntonces sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Por qué dicen, pues, los escribas que es necesario que Elías venga primero?

And disciples demanded of him saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first have come?

11 Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: a la verdad, Elías vendrá primero, y restituirá todas las cosas.

And he answering said to them, Elias indeed comes first and will restore all things.

12 M as os digo que ya vino Elías, y no le conocieron; antes hicieron con él todo lo que quisieron; así también el Hijo del hombre padecerá de ellos.

But I say unto you that Elias has already come, and they have not known him, but have done unto him whatever they would. Thus also the Son of man is about to suffer from them.

13 L os discípulos entonces entendieron, que les habló de Juan el Bautista.

Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the baptist.

14 ¶ Cuando ellos llegaron a la multitud, vino a él un hombre hincándose de rodillas,

And when they came to the crowd, a man came to him, falling on his knees before him, and saying,

15 Y diciendo: Señor, ten misericordia de mi hijo, que es lunático, y padece malamente; porque muchas veces cae en el fuego, y muchas en el agua.

Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatic, and suffers sorely; for often he falls into the fire and often into the water.

16 Y lo he presentado a tus discípulos, y no le han podido sanar.

And I brought him to thy disciples, and they were not able to heal him.

17 R espondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación infiel y torcida! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo os he de sufrir? Traédmelo acá.

And Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to me.

18 Y Jesús le reprendió, y salió el demonio de él; y el niño fue sano desde aquella hora.

And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out from him, and the boy was healed from that hour.

19 E ntonces, acercándose los discípulos a Jesús, aparte, dijeron: ¿Por qué nosotros no lo pudimos echar fuera?

Then the disciples, coming to Jesus apart, said, Why were not we able to cast him out?

20 Y Jesús les dijo: Por vuestra infidelidad; porque de cierto os digo, que si tuviereis fe como un grano de mostaza, diréis a este monte: Pásate de aquí allá; y se pasará; y nada os será imposible.

And he says to them, Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard, ye shall say to this mountain, Be transported hence there, and it shall transport itself; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

21 M as este linaje de demonios no sale sino por oración y ayuno.

But this kind does not go out but by prayer and fasting.

22 ¶ Y estando ellos en Galilea, Jesús les dijo: El Hijo del hombre será entregado en manos de hombres,

And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man is about to be delivered up into hands of men,

23 Y le matarán; mas al tercer día resucitará. Y ellos se entristecieron en gran manera.

and they shall kill him; and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were greatly grieved.

24 ¶ Cuando llegaron a Capernaum, vinieron a Pedro los que cobraban las dos dracmas, y dijeron: ¿Vuestro Maestro no paga las dos dracmas?

And when they came to Capernaum, those who received the didrachmas came to Peter and said, Does your teacher not pay the didrachmas?

25 Y él dice: Sí. Y entrando él en casa, Jesús le habló antes, diciendo: ¿Qué te parece, Simón? Los reyes de la tierra, ¿de quién cobran los tributos o el censo? ¿De sus hijos o de los extraños?

He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What dost thou think, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive custom or tribute? from their own sons or from strangers?

26 P edro le dice: De los extraños. Jesús le dijo: Luego los hijos están exentos.

Peter says to him, From strangers. Jesus said to him, Then are the sons free.

27 S in embargo, para que no los ofendamos, ve al mar, y echa el anzuelo, y el primer pez que viniere, tómalo, y abierta su boca, hallarás un estatero: tómalo, y dáselo por mí y por ti.

But that we may not be an offence to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when thou hast opened its mouth thou wilt find a stater; take that and give it to them for me and thee.
