1 Y cuando Roboam hubo confirmado el reino, cuando se fortaleció, dejó la ley del SEÑOR, y con él todo Israel.

And it came to pass when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and when he had become strong, he forsook the law of Jehovah, and all Israel with him.

2 Y en el quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalén (por cuanto se habían rebelado contra el SEÑOR),

And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, because they had transgressed against Jehovah, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem,

3 c on mil doscientos carros, y con sesenta mil hombres de a caballo; mas el pueblo que venía con él de Egipto, no tenía número; a saber, de libios, suquienos, y etíopes.

with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt: Libyans, Sukkites, and Ethiopians.

4 Y tomó las ciudades fuertes de Judá, y llegó hasta Jerusalén.

And he took the fortified cities that belonged to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

5 ¶ Entonces vino Semeías profeta a Roboam y a los príncipes de Judá, que estaban reunidos en Jerusalén por causa de Sisac, y les dijo: Así ha dicho el SEÑOR: Vosotros me habéis dejado, y yo también os he dejado en manos de Sisac.

And Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the princes of Judah that had gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus saith Jehovah: Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

6 Y los príncipes de Israel y el rey se humillaron, y dijeron: Justo es el SEÑOR.

And the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, Jehovah is righteous.

7 Y como vio el SEÑOR que se habían humillado, vino palabra del SEÑOR a Semeías, diciendo: Se han humillado; no los destruiré; antes los salvare en breve, y no se derramará mi ira contra Jerusalén por la mano de Sisac.

And when Jehovah saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Jehovah came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them, but I will grant them a little deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8 P ero serán sus siervos; para que sepan qué es servirme a mí, y servir a los reinos de las naciones.

Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

9 S ubió, pues, Sisac rey de Egipto a Jerusalén, y tomó los tesoros de la Casa del SEÑOR, y los tesoros de la casa del rey; todo lo llevó, y tomó los paveses de oro que Salomón había hecho.

And Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house; he took away all; and he took away the shields of gold that Solomon had made.

10 Y en lugar de ellos hizo el rey Roboam paveses de bronce, y los entregó en manos de los príncipes de la guardia, los cuales custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.

And king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of bronze, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the couriers who kept the entrance of the king's house.

11 Y cuando el rey iba a la Casa del SEÑOR, venían los de la guardia, y los traían, y después los volvían a dejar en la cámara de la guardia.

And it was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of Jehovah, the couriers came and fetched them, and brought them again into the chamber of the couriers.

12 Y cuando él se humilló, la ira del SEÑOR se apartó de él, para no destruirlo del todo; y también en Judá las cosas fueron bien.

And when he humbled himself, the anger of Jehovah turned away from him, that he would not destroy him altogether; and also in Judah there were good things.

13 F ortificado, pues, Roboam, reinó en Jerusalén; y era Roboam de cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalén, ciudad que escogió el SEÑOR de todas las tribus de Israel, para poner en ella su Nombre. Y el nombre de su madre fue Naama, una amonita.

And king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

14 E hizo lo malo, porque no apercibió su corazón para buscar al SEÑOR.

And he did evil, for he applied not his heart to seek Jehovah.

15 Y las cosas de Roboam, primeras y postreras, ¿no están escritas en los libros de Semeías profeta y de Iddo, el vidente, en la cuenta de los linajes? Y entre Roboam y Jeroboam hubo perpetua guerra.

And the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the words of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer, in the genealogical registers? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

16 Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David; y reinó en su lugar Abías su hijo.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. And Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
