1 ¶ Y el ángel del SEÑOR subió de Gilgal a Boquim, y dijo: Yo os saqué de Egipto, y os introduje en la tierra de la cual había jurado a vuestros padres; y dije: No invalidaré jamás mi pacto con vosotros;

And the Angel of Jehovah came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you to the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you; and as for you,

2 c on tal que vosotros no hagáis pacto con los moradores de esta tierra, antes habéis de destruir sus altares; mas vosotros no habéis oído mi voz; ¿por qué habéis hecho esto?

ye shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not hearkened unto my voice. Why have ye done this?

3 P or tanto yo también dije: No los echaré de delante de vosotros, sino que os serán por azote para vuestros costados, y sus dioses por tropezadero.

Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

4 Y cuando el ángel del SEÑOR habló estas palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo lloró en alta voz.

And it came to pass, when the Angel of Jehovah spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice and wept.

5 Y llamaron por nombre aquel lugar Boquim; y sacrificaron allí al SEÑOR.

And they called the name of that place Bochim; and they sacrificed there to Jehovah.

6 ¶ Porque ya Josué había despedido al pueblo, y los hijos de Israel se habían ido cada uno a su herencia para poseer la tierra.

And Joshua dismissed the people, and the children of Israel went every man to his inheritance to possess the land.

7 Y el pueblo había servido al SEÑOR todo el tiempo de Josué, y todo el tiempo de los ancianos que vivieron largos días después de Josué, los cuales habían visto todas las grandes obras del SEÑOR, que él había hecho con Israel.

And the people served Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders whose days were prolonged after Joshua, who had seen all the great works of Jehovah, which he had done for Israel.

8 Y murió Josué hijo de Nun, siervo del SEÑOR, siendo de ciento diez años.

And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Jehovah, died, a hundred and ten years old.

9 Y lo enterraron en el término de su heredad en Timnat-sera, en el monte de Efraín, al norte del monte de Gaas.

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-Heres, in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the mountain of Gaash.

10 Y toda aquella generación fue también recogida con sus padres. Y se levantó después de ellos otra generación, que no conocía al SEÑOR, ni la obra que él había hecho a Israel.

And also all that generation were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them, which knew not Jehovah, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

11 Y los hijos de Israel hicieron lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, y sirvieron a los baales.

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and served the Baals.

12 Y dejaron al SEÑOR el Dios de sus padres, que los había sacado de la tierra de Egipto, y se fueron tras otros dioses, tras los dioses de los pueblos que estaban en sus alrededores, a los cuales adoraron; y provocaron a ira al SEÑOR.

And they forsook Jehovah the God of their fathers, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods of the gods of the peoples that were round about them, and bowed themselves to them, and provoked Jehovah to anger.

13 Y dejaron al SEÑOR, y adoraron a Baal y a Astarot.

And they forsook Jehovah, and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

14 Y el furor del SEÑOR se encendió contra Israel, el cual los entregó en manos de salteadores que les robaron, y los vendió en manos de sus enemigos de alrededor; y no pudieron parar más delante de sus enemigos.

And the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about; and they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

15 P or dondequiera que salían, la mano del SEÑOR era contra ellos para mal, como el SEÑOR había dicho, y como el SEÑOR lo había jurado; así los afligió en gran manera.

Whithersoever they went out the hand of Jehovah was against them for evil, as Jehovah had said, and as Jehovah had sworn unto them; and they were greatly distressed.

16 M as el SEÑOR despertó jueces que los libraran de mano de los que les saqueaban.

And Jehovah raised up judges, and they saved them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

17 Y tampoco oyeron a sus jueces, sino que fornicaron tras dioses ajenos, a los cuales adoraron; y se apartaron muy pronto del camino en que anduvieron sus padres escuchando los mandamientos del SEÑOR; mas ellos no lo hicieron así.

But they did not even hearken to their judges, for they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves to them; they turned quickly out of the way that their fathers had walked in, obeying the commandments of Jehovah; they did not so.

18 Y cuando el SEÑOR les despertaba jueces, el SEÑOR era con el juez, y los libraba de mano de los enemigos todo el tiempo de aquel juez; porque el SEÑOR se arrepentía por sus gemidos a causa de los que los oprimían y afligían.

And when Jehovah raised them up judges, then Jehovah was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repented Jehovah because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and crushed them.

19 M as al morir el juez, ellos se volvían, y se corrompían más que sus padres, siguiendo a dioses ajenos para servirles, e inclinándose delante de ellos; y nada disminuían de sus obras, ni de su obstinado camino.

And it came to pass when the judge died, that they turned back and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them: they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

20 Y la ira del SEÑOR se encendió contra Israel, y dijo: Pues que esta gente traspasa mi pacto que ordené a sus padres, y no escuchan mi voz,

And the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel; and he said, Because this nation hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and hath not hearkened unto my voice,

21 t ampoco yo echaré más de delante de ellos a ninguno de estos gentiles que dejó Josué cuando murió;

I also will not henceforth dispossess from before them any of the nations that Joshua left when he died;

22 p ara que por ellos probara yo a Israel, si guardarían ellos el camino del SEÑOR andando en él, como sus padres lo guardaron, o no.

that through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of Jehovah to walk therein, as their fathers did keep, or not.

23 P or esto dejó el SEÑOR aquellos gentiles, y no los desarraigó luego, ni los entregó en mano de Josué.

Therefore Jehovah left those nations, without dispossessing them hastily, neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
