1 P alabra que habló Jeremías, el profeta a Baruc hijo de Nerías, cuando escribía en el libro estas palabras de boca de Jeremías, el año cuarto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, diciendo:

The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Nerijah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying,

2 A sí dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel, a ti, oh Baruc:

Thus sayeth Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning thee, Baruch:

3 T ú dijiste: ¡Ay de mí ahora! Porque me ha añadido el SEÑOR tristeza sobre mi dolor; trabajé en mi gemido, y no he hallado descanso.

Thou didst say, Woe unto me! for Jehovah hath added grief to my sorrow; I am weary with my sighing, and I find no rest.

4 A sí le dirás: Así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí que yo destruyo los que edifiqué, y arranco los que planté, y a toda esta tierra.

Thus shalt thou say unto him, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, what I have built do I overthrow, and what I have planted I pluck up, even this whole land.

5 ¿ Y tú buscas para ti grandezas? No las busques; porque he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre toda carne, dijo el SEÑOR, y a ti te daré tu vida por despojo en todos los lugares adonde fueres.

And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek not; for behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith Jehovah; but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou shalt go.
