1 ¶ Escuchad, cielos, y hablaré; y oiga la tierra los dichos de mi boca.

Give ear, ye heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth!

2 G oteará como la lluvia mi doctrina; destilará como el rocío mi dicho; como la llovizna sobre la grama, y como las gotas sobre la hierba.

My doctrine shall drop as rain, My speech flow down as dew, As small rain upon the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.

3 P orque el Nombre del SEÑOR invocaré; engrandeced a nuestro Dios.

For the name of Jehovah will I proclaim: Ascribe greatness unto our God!

4 D el Fuerte, cuya obra es perfecta, porque todos sus caminos son rectitud; Dios de verdad, y ninguna iniquidad en él; es justo y recto.

the Rock, his work is perfect, For all his ways are righteousness; A God of faithfulness without deceit, Just and right is he.

5 S e corrompieron; su mancha es que no son hijos suyos, son generación torcida y perversa.

They have dealt corruptly with him; Not his children's is their spot:—A crooked and perverted generation!

6 ¿ Así pagáis al SEÑOR, pueblo loco e ignorante? ¿No es él tu padre que te poseyó? El te hizo y te compuso.

Do ye thus requite Jehovah, Foolish and unwise people? Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? Hath he not made thee and established thee?

7 ¶ Acuérdate de los tiempos antiguos; considerad los años de generación y generación; pregunta a tu padre, que él te declarará; a tus viejos, y ellos te dirán;

Remember the days of old, Consider the years of generation to generation; Ask thy father, and he will shew thee; Thine elders, and they will tell thee.

8 c uando el Altísimo hizo heredar a los gentiles, cuando hizo dividir a los hijos de los hombres, cuando estableció los términos de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Israel.

When the Most High assigned to the nations their inheritance, When he separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.

9 P orque la parte del SEÑOR es su pueblo; Jacob el cordel de su heredad.

For Jehovah's portion is his people; Jacob the lot of his inheritance.

10 L e halló en tierra de desierto, y en un desierto horrible y yermo; lo trajo alrededor, lo instruyó, lo guardó como la niña de su ojo.

He found him in a desert land, And in the waste, howling wilderness; He compassed him about, he watched over him, He preserved him as the apple of his eye.

11 C omo el águila que despierta su nidada, revolotea sobre sus pollos, extiende sus alas, los toma, los lleva sobre sus espaldas;

As the eagle stirreth up its nest, Hovereth over its young, Spreadeth out its wings, Taketh them, beareth them on its feathers,

12 e l SEÑOR solo le guió, que no hubo con él dios ajeno.

So Jehovah alone did lead him, And no strange god with him.

13 L o hizo subir sobre las alturas de la tierra, y comió los frutos del campo, e hizo que chupara miel de la peña, y aceite del pedernal fuerte;

He made him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And he made him suck honey out of the crag, And oil out of the flinty rock;

14 m anteca de vacas y leche de ovejas, con grosura de corderos, y carneros de los hijos de Basán (fructificación); también machos cabríos, con grosura de riñones de trigo; y sangre de la uva bebiste, vino puro.

Cream of kine, and milk of sheep, With the fat of lambs, And rams of the breed of Bashan, and he-goats, With the fat of kidneys of wheat; And thou didst drink pure wine, the blood of the grape.

15 ¶ Y engrosó Jesurún (el recto), y tiró coces; (te engordaste, te engrosaste, te cubriste;) y dejó al Dios que le hizo, y menospreció al Fuerte de su salud.

Then Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked—Thou art waxen fat, Thou art grown thick, And thou art covered with fatness;—He gave up +God who made him, And lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

16 L e despertaron a celos con los dioses ajenos; le ensañaron con abominaciones.

They moved him to jealousy with strange gods, With abominations did they provoke him to anger.

17 S acrificaron a los diablos, no a Dios; a los dioses que no conocieron; nuevos dioses, venidos de cerca, que no habían temido vuestros padres.

They sacrificed unto demons who are not +God; To gods whom they knew not, To new ones, who came newly up, Whom your fathers revered not.

18 D el Fuerte que te engendró, te has olvidado; te has olvidado del Dios que te dio a luz con dolor.

Of the Rock that begot thee wast thou unmindful, And thou hast forgotten God who brought thee forth.

19 ¶ Y lo vio el SEÑOR, y se encendió con ira, a causa de sus hijos y de sus hijas.

And Jehovah saw it, and despised them, Because of the provoking of his sons and of his daughters.

20 Y dijo: Esconderé de ellos mi rostro, veré cuál será su postrimería; que son generación de perversidades, hijos sin fe.

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be; For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faithfulness.

21 E llos me despertaron a celos con lo que no es Dios; me hicieron ensañar con sus vanidades; y yo también los despertaré a celos con un pueblo que no es pueblo, con gente loca los haré ensañar.

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is no God; They have exasperated me with their vanities; And I will move them to jealousy with that which is not a people; With a foolish nation will I provoke them to anger.

22 P orque fuego se encenderá en mi furor, y arderá hasta lo más profundo del Seol; y devorará la tierra y sus frutos, y abrasará los fundamentos de los montes.

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, And it shall burn into the lowest Sheol, And shall consume the earth and its produce, And set fire to the foundations of the mountains.

23 Y o agotaré males sobre ellos; emplearé en ellos mis saetas.

I will heap mischiefs upon them; Mine arrows will I spend against them.

24 C onsumidos serán de hambre, y comidos de fiebre ardiente y de talamiento amargo; diente de bestias enviaré también sobre ellos, con veneno de serpientes de la tierra.

They shall be consumed with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, And with poisonous pestilence; And the teeth of beasts will I send against them, With the poison of what crawleth in the dust.

25 P or fuera desolará la espada, y dentro de las cámaras el espanto; así al joven como a la doncella, al que mama como al hombre cano.

From without shall the sword bereave them, and in the chambers, terror—Both the young man and the virgin, The suckling with the man of gray hairs.

26 ¶ Dije: Los quebrantará en pedazos, haría cesar de entre los hombres la memoria de ellos,

I would say, I will scatter, I will make the remembrance of them to cease from among men,

27 s i no temiera la ira del enemigo, no sea que se envanezcan sus adversarios, no sea que digan: Nuestra mano alta ha hecho todo esto, no el SEÑOR.

If I did not fear provocation from the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand it, Lest they should say, Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this.

28 P orque son nación gentil privada de consejos, y no hay en ellos inteligencia.

For they are a nation void of counsel, And understanding is not in them.

29 ¡ Deseo que fueran sabios, si fueran prudentes entenderían su postrimería!

Oh that they had been wise! they would have understood this, They would have considered their latter end!

30 ¿ Cómo podría perseguir uno a mil, y dos harían huir a diez millares, si su Fuerte no los hubiera vendido, y el SEÑOR no los hubiera entregado?

How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Were it not that their Rock had sold them, And Jehovah had delivered them up?

31 Q ue el fuerte de ellos no es como nuestro Fuerte; y aun nuestros enemigos son de ello jueces.

For their rock is not as our Rock: Let our enemies themselves be judges.

32 P or tanto de la vid de Sodoma es la vid de ellos, y de los campos de Gomorra; las uvas de ellos son uvas ponzoñosas, racimos muy amargos tienen.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, And of the fields of Gomorrah: Their grapes are grapes of poison, Bitter are their clusters;

33 V eneno de dragones es su vino, y ponzoña cruel de áspides.

Their wine is the poison of dragons, And the cruel venom of vipers.

34 ¿ No tengo yo esto guardado, sellado en mis tesoros?

Is not this hidden with me, Sealed up among my treasures?

35 M ía es la venganza y el pago, al tiempo que su pie vacilará; porque el día de su aflicción está cercano, y lo que les está determinado se apresura.

Vengeance is mine, and recompense, For the time when their foot shall slip. For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things that shall come upon them make haste.

36 P orque el SEÑOR juzgará a su pueblo, y se arrepentirá él mismo por sus siervos, cuando viere que su fuerza pereció sin quedar nadie guardado ni quedado.

For Jehovah will judge his people, And shall repent in favour of his servants; When he seeth that power is gone, And there is none shut up or left.

37 Y dirá: ¿Dónde están sus dioses, el fuerte de quien se ampararon;

And he shall say, Where are their gods, Their rock in whom they trusted,

38 q ue comían el sebo de sus sacrificios, bebían el vino de sus libaciones? Levántense, que os ayuden y os amparen.

Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, drank the wine of their drink-offering? Let them rise up and help you, That there may be a protection over you.

39 ¶ Ved ahora que yo, yo soy él, y no hay dioses conmigo; yo hago morir, y yo hago vivir; yo hiero, y yo curo; y no hay quien pueda librar de mi mano.

See now that I, I am HE, And there is no god with me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal, And there is none that delivereth out of my hand,

40 C uando yo alzaré a los cielos mi mano, y diré: Vivo yo para siempre,

For I lift up my hand to the heavens, and say, I live for ever!

41 s i amolare el resplandor de mi espada, y mi mano arrebatare el juicio, yo volveré la venganza a mis enemigos, y daré el pago a los que me aborrecen.

If I have sharpened my gleaming sword, And my hand take hold of judgment, I will render vengeance to mine adversaries, And will recompense them that hate me.

42 E mbriagaré de sangre mis saetas, y mi espada devorará carne; en la sangre de los muertos y de los cautivos de los reyes y las cabezas, con venganzas de enemigo.

Mine arrows will I make drunk with blood, And my sword shall devour flesh; with the blood of the slain and of the captives, With the head of the princes of the enemy.

43 A labad, gentiles, con su pueblo, porque él vengará la sangre de sus siervos, y volverá la venganza a sus enemigos, y reconciliará su tierra, a su pueblo.

Shout for joy, ye nations, with his people, For he avengeth the blood of his servants, And rendereth vengeance to his enemies, And maketh atonement for his land, for his people.

44 ¶ Y vino Moisés, y recitó todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo, él, y Oseas hijo de Nun.

And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea the son of Nun.

45 Y acabó Moisés de recitar todas estas palabras a todo Israel;

And when Moses had ended speaking all these words to all Israel,

46 y les dijo: Poned vuestro corazón a todas las palabras que yo protesto hoy contra vosotros, para que las mandéis a vuestros hijos, y guarden y cumplan todas las palabras de esta ley.

he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words that I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to take heed to do, all the words of this law.

47 P orque no os es cosa vana, mas es vuestra vida; y por este negocio haréis prolongar los días sobre la tierra, para heredar la cual pasáis el Jordán.

For it is no vain word for you, but it is your life, and through this word ye shall prolong your days on the land whereunto ye pass over the Jordan to possess it.

48 Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés aquel mismo día, diciendo:

And Jehovah spoke to Moses that same day, saying,

49 S ube a este monte de Abarim, al monte Nebo, que está en la tierra de Moab, que está frente a Jericó, y mira la tierra de Canaán, que yo doy por heredad a los hijos de Israel;

Go up into this mountain Abarim, mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession,

50 y muere en el monte al cual subes, y sé reunido a tu pueblo; de la manera que murió Aarón tu hermano en el monte de Hor, y fue reunido a su pueblo;

and die on the mountain whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy peoples, as Aaron thy brother died on mount Hor, and was gathered unto his peoples;

51 p or cuanto prevaricasteis contra mí en medio de los hijos de Israel en las aguas de Meriba de Cades, en el desierto de Zin; porque no me santificasteis en medio de los hijos de Israel.

because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye hallowed me not in the midst of the children of Israel.

52 V erás, por tanto, delante de ti la tierra; mas no entrarás allá, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israel.

For thou shalt see the land before; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
