1 E scuchad, cielos, y hablaré; Y oiga la tierra los dichos de mi boca.

Give ear, ye heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth!

2 G oteará como la lluvia mi enseñanza; Destilará como el rocío mi razonamiento; Como la llovizna sobre la grama, Y como las gotas sobre la hierba;

My doctrine shall drop as rain, My speech flow down as dew, As small rain upon the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.

3 P orque el nombre de Jehová proclamaré. Engrandeced a nuestro Dios.

For the name of Jehovah will I proclaim: Ascribe greatness unto our God!

4 E l es la Roca, cuya obra es perfecta, Porque todos sus caminos son rectitud; Dios de verdad, y sin ninguna iniquidad en él; Es justo y recto.

the Rock, his work is perfect, For all his ways are righteousness; A God of faithfulness without deceit, Just and right is he.

5 L a corrupción no es suya; de sus hijos es la mancha, Generación torcida y perversa.

They have dealt corruptly with him; Not his children's is their spot:—A crooked and perverted generation!

6 ¿ Así pagáis a Jehová, Pueblo loco e ignorante? ¿No es él tu padre que te creó? El te hizo y te estableció.

Do ye thus requite Jehovah, Foolish and unwise people? Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? Hath he not made thee and established thee?

7 A cuérdate de los tiempos antiguos, Considera los años de muchas generaciones; Pregunta a tu padre, y él te declarará; A tus ancianos, y ellos te dirán.

Remember the days of old, Consider the years of generation to generation; Ask thy father, and he will shew thee; Thine elders, and they will tell thee.

8 C uando el Altísimo hizo heredar a las naciones, Cuando hizo dividir a los hijos de los hombres, Estableció los límites de los pueblos Según el número de los hijos de Israel.

When the Most High assigned to the nations their inheritance, When he separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.

9 P orque la porción de Jehová es su pueblo; Jacob la heredad que le tocó.

For Jehovah's portion is his people; Jacob the lot of his inheritance.

10 L e halló en tierra de desierto, Y en yermo de horrible soledad; Lo trajo alrededor, lo instruyó, Lo guardó como a la niña de su ojo.

He found him in a desert land, And in the waste, howling wilderness; He compassed him about, he watched over him, He preserved him as the apple of his eye.

11 C omo el águila que excita su nidada, Revolotea sobre sus pollos, Extiende sus alas, los toma, Los lleva sobre sus plumas,

As the eagle stirreth up its nest, Hovereth over its young, Spreadeth out its wings, Taketh them, beareth them on its feathers,

12 J ehová solo le guió, Y con él no hubo dios extraño.

So Jehovah alone did lead him, And no strange god with him.

13 L o hizo subir sobre las alturas de la tierra, Y comió los frutos del campo, E hizo que chupase miel de la peña, Y aceite del duro pedernal;

He made him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And he made him suck honey out of the crag, And oil out of the flinty rock;

14 M antequilla de vacas y leche de ovejas, Con grosura de corderos, Y carneros de Basán; también machos cabríos, Con lo mejor del trigo; Y de la sangre de la uva bebiste vino.

Cream of kine, and milk of sheep, With the fat of lambs, And rams of the breed of Bashan, and he-goats, With the fat of kidneys of wheat; And thou didst drink pure wine, the blood of the grape.

15 P ero engordó Jesurún, y tiró coces (Engordaste, te cubriste de grasa); Entonces abandonó al Dios que lo hizo, Y menospreció la Roca de su salvación.

Then Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked—Thou art waxen fat, Thou art grown thick, And thou art covered with fatness;—He gave up +God who made him, And lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

16 L e despertaron a celos con los dioses ajenos; Lo provocaron a ira con abominaciones.

They moved him to jealousy with strange gods, With abominations did they provoke him to anger.

17 S acrificaron a los demonios, y no a Dios; A dioses que no habían conocido, A nuevos dioses venidos de cerca, Que no habían temido vuestros padres.

They sacrificed unto demons who are not +God; To gods whom they knew not, To new ones, who came newly up, Whom your fathers revered not.

18 D e la Roca que te creó te olvidaste; Te has olvidado de Dios tu creador.

Of the Rock that begot thee wast thou unmindful, And thou hast forgotten God who brought thee forth.

19 Y lo vio Jehová, y se encendió en ira Por el menosprecio de sus hijos y de sus hijas.

And Jehovah saw it, and despised them, Because of the provoking of his sons and of his daughters.

20 Y dijo: Esconderé de ellos mi rostro, Veré cuál será su fin; Porque son una generación perversa, Hijos infieles.

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be; For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faithfulness.

21 E llos me movieron a celos con lo que no es Dios; Me provocaron a ira con sus ídolos; Yo también los moveré a celos con un pueblo que no es pueblo, Los provocaré a ira con una nación insensata.

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is no God; They have exasperated me with their vanities; And I will move them to jealousy with that which is not a people; With a foolish nation will I provoke them to anger.

22 P orque fuego se ha encendido en mi ira, Y arderá hasta las profundidades del Seol; Devorará la tierra y sus frutos, Y abrasará los fundamentos de los montes.

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, And it shall burn into the lowest Sheol, And shall consume the earth and its produce, And set fire to the foundations of the mountains.

23 Y o amontonaré males sobre ellos; Emplearé en ellos mis saetas.

I will heap mischiefs upon them; Mine arrows will I spend against them.

24 C onsumidos serán de hambre, y devorados de fiebre ardiente Y de peste amarga; Diente de fieras enviaré también sobre ellos, Con veneno de serpientes de la tierra.

They shall be consumed with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, And with poisonous pestilence; And the teeth of beasts will I send against them, With the poison of what crawleth in the dust.

25 P or fuera desolará la espada, Y dentro de las cámaras el espanto; Así al joven como a la doncella, Al niño de pecho como al hombre cano.

From without shall the sword bereave them, and in the chambers, terror—Both the young man and the virgin, The suckling with the man of gray hairs.

26 Y o había dicho que los esparciría lejos, Que haría cesar de entre los hombres la memoria de ellos,

I would say, I will scatter, I will make the remembrance of them to cease from among men,

27 D e no haber temido la provocación del enemigo, No sea que se envanezcan sus adversarios, No sea que digan: Nuestra mano poderosa Ha hecho todo esto, y no Jehová.

If I did not fear provocation from the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand it, Lest they should say, Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this.

28 P orque son nación privada de consejos, Y no hay en ellos entendimiento.

For they are a nation void of counsel, And understanding is not in them.

29 O jalá fueran sabios, que comprendieran esto, Y se dieran cuenta del fin que les espera!

Oh that they had been wise! they would have understood this, They would have considered their latter end!

30 ¿ Cómo podría perseguir uno a mil, Y dos hacer huir a diez mil, Si su Roca no los hubiese vendido, Y Jehová no los hubiera entregado?

How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Were it not that their Rock had sold them, And Jehovah had delivered them up?

31 P orque la roca de ellos no es como nuestra Roca, Y aun nuestros enemigos son de ello jueces.

For their rock is not as our Rock: Let our enemies themselves be judges.

32 P orque de la vid de Sodoma es la vid de ellos, Y de los campos de Gomorra; Las uvas de ellos son uvas ponzoñosas, Racimos muy amargos tienen.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, And of the fields of Gomorrah: Their grapes are grapes of poison, Bitter are their clusters;

33 V eneno de serpientes es su vino, Y ponzoña cruel de áspides.

Their wine is the poison of dragons, And the cruel venom of vipers.

34 ¿ No tengo yo esto guardado conmigo, Sellado en mis tesoros?

Is not this hidden with me, Sealed up among my treasures?

35 M ía es la venganza y la retribución; A su tiempo su pie resbalará, Porque el día de su aflicción está cercano, Y lo que les está preparado se apresura.

Vengeance is mine, and recompense, For the time when their foot shall slip. For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things that shall come upon them make haste.

36 P orque Jehová juzgará a su pueblo, Y por amor de sus siervos se arrepentirá, Cuando viere que la fuerza pereció, Y que no queda ni siervo ni libre.

For Jehovah will judge his people, And shall repent in favour of his servants; When he seeth that power is gone, And there is none shut up or left.

37 Y dirá: ¿Dónde están sus dioses, La roca en que se refugiaban;

And he shall say, Where are their gods, Their rock in whom they trusted,

38 Q ue comían la grosura de sus sacrificios, Y bebían el vino de sus libaciones? Levántense, que os ayuden Y os defiendan.

Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, drank the wine of their drink-offering? Let them rise up and help you, That there may be a protection over you.

39 V ed ahora que yo, yo soy, Y no hay dioses conmigo; Yo hago morir, y yo hago vivir; Yo hiero, y yo sano; Y no hay quien pueda librar de mi mano.

See now that I, I am HE, And there is no god with me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal, And there is none that delivereth out of my hand,

40 P orque yo alzaré a los cielos mi mano, Y diré: Vivo yo para siempre,

For I lift up my hand to the heavens, and say, I live for ever!

41 S i afilare mi reluciente espada, Y echare mano del juicio, Yo tomaré venganza de mis enemigos, Y daré la retribución a los que me aborrecen.

If I have sharpened my gleaming sword, And my hand take hold of judgment, I will render vengeance to mine adversaries, And will recompense them that hate me.

42 E mbriagaré de sangre mis saetas, Y mi espada devorará carne; En la sangre de los muertos y de los cautivos, En las cabezas de larga cabellera del enemigo.

Mine arrows will I make drunk with blood, And my sword shall devour flesh; with the blood of the slain and of the captives, With the head of the princes of the enemy.

43 A labad, naciones, a su pueblo, Porque él vengará la sangre de sus siervos, Y tomará venganza de sus enemigos, Y hará expiación por la tierra de su pueblo.

Shout for joy, ye nations, with his people, For he avengeth the blood of his servants, And rendereth vengeance to his enemies, And maketh atonement for his land, for his people.

44 V ino Moisés y recitó todas las palabras de este cántico a oídos del pueblo, él y Josué hijo de Nun.

And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea the son of Nun.

45 Y acabó Moisés de recitar todas estas palabras a todo Israel;

And when Moses had ended speaking all these words to all Israel,

46 y les dijo: Aplicad vuestro corazón a todas las palabras que yo os testifico hoy, para que las mandéis a vuestros hijos, a fin de que cuiden de cumplir todas las palabras de esta ley.

he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words that I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to take heed to do, all the words of this law.

47 P orque no os es cosa vana; es vuestra vida, y por medio de esta ley haréis prolongar vuestros días sobre la tierra adonde vais, pasando el Jordán, para tomar posesión de ella. Se le permite a Moisés contemplar la tierra de Canaán

For it is no vain word for you, but it is your life, and through this word ye shall prolong your days on the land whereunto ye pass over the Jordan to possess it.

48 Y habló Jehová a Moisés aquel mismo día, diciendo:

And Jehovah spoke to Moses that same day, saying,

49 S ube a este monte de Abarim, al monte Nebo, situado en la tierra de Moab que está frente a Jericó, y mira la tierra de Canaán, que yo doy por heredad a los hijos de Israel;

Go up into this mountain Abarim, mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession,

50 y muere en el monte al cual subes, y sé unido a tu pueblo, así como murió Aarón tu hermano en el monte Hor, y fue unido a su pueblo;

and die on the mountain whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy peoples, as Aaron thy brother died on mount Hor, and was gathered unto his peoples;

51 p or cuanto pecasteis contra mí en medio de los hijos de Israel en las aguas de Meriba de Cades, en el desierto de Zin; porque no me santificasteis en medio de los hijos de Israel.

because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye hallowed me not in the midst of the children of Israel.

52 V erás, por tanto, delante de ti la tierra; mas no entrarás allá, a la tierra que doy a los hijos de Israel.

For thou shalt see the land before; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
