1 S ubió destruidor contra ti; guarda la fortaleza, vigila el camino, cíñete los lomos, refuerza mucho tu poder.

He that dasheth in pieces is come up against thy face: keep the fortress, watch the way, make loins strong, fortify power mightily.

2 P orque Jehová restaurará la gloria de Jacob como la gloria de Israel; porque saqueadores los saquearon, y estropearon sus mugrones.

For Jehovah hath brought again the glory of Jacob, as the glory of Israel; for the wasters have wasted them, and marred their vine-branches.

3 E l escudo de sus valientes estará enrojecido, los varones de su ejército vestidos de grana; el carro como fuego de antorchas; el día que se prepare, temblarán las hayas.

The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots with the sheen of steel, in the day of his preparation, and the spears are brandished.

4 L os carros se precipitarán a las plazas, con estruendo rodarán por las calles; su aspecto será como antorchas encendidas, correrán como relámpagos.

The chariots rush madly in the streets, they justle one against another in the broad ways: the appearance of them is like torches, they run like lightnings.

5 S e acordará él de sus valientes; se atropellarán en su marcha; se apresurarán a su muro, y la defensa se preparará.

He bethinketh him of his nobles: they stumble in their march; they make haste to the wall thereof, and the shelter is prepared.

6 L as puertas de los ríos se abrirán, y el palacio será destruido.

The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace melteth away.

7 Y la reina será cautiva; mandarán que suba, y sus criadas la llevarán gimiendo como palomas, golpeándose sus pechos.

And it is decreed: she shall be uncovered, she shall be led away, and her maids shall moan as with the voice of doves, drumming upon their breasts.

8 F ue Nínive de tiempo antiguo como estanque de aguas; pero ellos huyen. Dicen:!! Deteneos, deteneos!; pero ninguno mira.

Nineveh hath been like a pool of water, since the day she existed, yet they flee away. … Stand! Stand! But none looketh back.

9 S aquead plata, saquead oro; no hay fin de las riquezas y suntuosidad de toda clase de efectos codiciables.

Plunder the silver, plunder the gold; for there is no end of the splendid store of all precious vessels.

10 V acía, agotada y desolada está, y el corazón desfallecido; temblor de rodillas, dolor en las entrañas, rostros demudados.

She is empty, and void, and waste; and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and writhing pain is in all loins, and all their faces grow pale.

11 ¿ Qué es de la guarida de los leones, y de la majada de los cachorros de los leones, donde se recogía el león y la leona, y los cachorros del león, y no había quien los espantase?

Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion, the lioness, the lion's whelp walked, and none made them afraid?

12 E l león arrebataba en abundancia para sus cachorros, y ahogaba para sus leonas, y llenaba de presa sus cavernas, y de robo sus guaridas. Destrucción total de Nínive

The lion tore in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.

13 H eme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Encenderé y reduciré a humo tus carros, y espada devorará tus leoncillos; y cortaré de la tierra tu robo, y nunca más se oirá la voz de tus mensajeros.

Behold, I am against thee, saith Jehovah of hosts: and I will burn her chariots into smoke; and the sword shall devour thy young lions, and I will cut off thy prey from the earth; and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
