1 E n el año segundo de Joás hijo de Joacaz rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá.

In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, began Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, to reign.

2 C uando comenzó a reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalén; el nombre de su madre fue Joadán, de Jerusalén.

He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

3 Y él hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como David su padre; hizo conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Joás su padre.

And he did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.

4 C on todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados, porque el pueblo aún sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en esos lugares altos.

Only, the high places were not removed: the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

5 Y cuando hubo afirmado en sus manos el reino, mató a los siervos que habían dado muerte al rey su padre.

And it came to pass when the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his servants who had smitten the king his father.

6 P ero no mató a los hijos de los que le dieron muerte, conforme a lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó diciendo: No matarán a los padres por los hijos, ni a los hijos por los padres, sino que cada uno morirá por su propio pecado.

But the children of those that smote he did not put to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein Jehovah commanded saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

7 E ste mató asimismo a diez mil edomitas en el Valle de la Sal, y tomó a Sela en batalla, y la llamó Jocteel, hasta hoy.

He smote of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Sela in the war, and called the name of it Joktheel to this day.

8 E ntonces Amasías envió mensajeros a Joás hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, para que nos veamos las caras.

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

9 Y Joás rey de Israel envió a Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardo que está en el Líbano envió a decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer a mi hijo. Y pasaron las fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardo.

And Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thorn-bush that is in Lebanon sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son as wife; and there passed by the wild beast that is in Lebanon, and trode down the thorn-bush.

10 C iertamente has derrotado a Edom, y tu corazón se ha envanecido; gloríate pues, mas quédate en tu casa. ¿Para qué te metes en un mal, para que caigas tú y Judá contigo?

Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart has lifted thee up: boast thyself, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou contend with misfortune, that thou shouldest fall, thou, and Judah with thee?

11 P ero Amasías no escuchó; por lo cual subió Joás rey de Israel, y se vieron las caras él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Bet-semes, que es de Judá.

But Amaziah would not hear. And Jehoash king of Israel went up; and they looked one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which is in Judah.

12 Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron, cada uno a su tienda.

And Judah was routed before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.

13 A demás Joás rey de Israel tomó a Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joás hijo de Ocozías, en Bet-semes; y vino a Jerusalén, y rompió el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.

And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner-gate, four hundred cubits.

14 Y tomó todo el oro, y la plata, y todos los utensilios que fueron hallados en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y a los hijos tomó en rehenes, y volvió a Samaria.

And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.

15 L os demás hechos que ejecutó Joás, y sus hazañas, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

And the rest of the acts of Jehoash, what he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

16 Y durmió Joás con sus padres, y fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.

And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

17 Y Amasías hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joás hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, quince años.

And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, fifteen years.

18 L os demás hechos de Amasías, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

19 C onspiraron contra él en Jerusalén, y él huyó a Laquis; pero le persiguieron hasta Laquis, y allá lo mataron.

And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish; and they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

20 L o trajeron luego sobre caballos, y lo sepultaron en Jerusalén con sus padres, en la ciudad de David.

And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers, in the city of David.

21 E ntonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Azarías, que era de dieciséis años, y lo hicieron rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.

And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

22 R eedificó él a Elat, y la restituyó a Judá, después que el rey durmió con sus padres. Reinado de Jeroboam II

It was he that built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.

23 E l año quince de Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Jeroboam hijo de Joás sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó cuarenta y un años.

In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, began to reign in Samaria, for forty-one years.

24 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah: he departed not from any of the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

25 E l restauró los límites de Israel desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el mar del Arabá, conforme a la palabra de Jehová Dios de Israel, la cual él había hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amitai, profeta que fue de Gat-hefer.

He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath as far as the sea of the plain, according to the word of Jehovah the God of Israel, which he had spoken through his servant Jonah the prophet, the son of Amittai, who was of Gath-Hepher.

26 P orque Jehová miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había siervo ni libre, ni quien diese ayuda a Israel;

For Jehovah saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter; and that there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

27 y Jehová no había determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo; por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joás.

And Jehovah had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under the heavens; and he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

28 L os demás hechos de Jeroboam, y todo lo que hizo, y su valentía, y todas las guerras que hizo, y cómo restituyó al dominio de Israel a Damasco y Hamat, que habían pertenecido a Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered for Israel that to Judah in Damascus and in Hamath, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

29 Y durmió Jeroboam con sus padres, los reyes de Israel, y reinó en su lugar Zacarías su hijo.

And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
